I got started in the "summer of All Tomorrows" as well. I've been a big fan of your content since. I think the name change is a good call, and keep experimenting! I'm looking forward to seeing where the future takes you.
I appreciate the input, Mr. Potato. I think the three of us (yourself, Curious Archive and I) all started around the same time. I've always enjoyed your stuff too. In this video I stated that I will be calling myself "Beware" from now on but I've actually decided on "BewareCast" now as it's less generic, a change will will take place over the next few weeks. Thank you for the kind words, I look forward to seeing what you come up with as the future unfolds too!
All tomorrows really scratched that dark forest theory itch for me after the 3 body problem series. I hope the author will come to love this book more as it has brought much joy to many people with this story.
I remember catching your channel early on and was super stoked when you started reading all kinds of different scifi. Glad to see you're still going strong.
I haven't watched the video yet but, finding your audiobook of this book launched me back into reading sci-fi, I didn't read much for several years but I vividly remember after the video ended I found pdf versions of various novels I bookmarked and began reading them, ex- Solaris!
A bit late, but I’ve been following this channel since the beginning (The Qu Explained was my first video) and have been watching every video after that. I really love your channel and I’m looking forward to seeing how the future of the channel!
Big fan of the channel for a while now and I have an unsolicited opinion, I understand your reasons for changing your channel name and support it, bit I honestly think the name "beware the qu" is iconic as is
I'm pretty sure I've seen every video on this channel and I'm here for every video you upload in the future. This is one of my favourite youtube channels.
I've been watching you since you were 30 subs! Hope you are doing well. Your videos are amazing (also, my son personally likes the Hand Flappers for some reason 😅). But thanks for introducing me to All Tomorrows
Not related to the book but over a short time frame, I have gradually began to notice that even tho the internet seems so big but it doesn't stop the fact that some RU-vidrs tend to reference other RU-vidrs that I have grown to be quite familiar with in which reminds me that (at least for this side of the internet) the internet isn't as big as it may initially seem in which to me is a pretty weird revelation.
Watch the original video earlier this year then from recommendations I found your channel and just watched just about everything including your reading. I feel like this small obsession of mine is gonna be a yearly thing because I find myself wanting to listen/watch all of it again. Love what you do mate.
I remember the summer of all tomorrows. It was a weird time and I like everyone else got invested to the point of joining every community related to the subject. I watched all the fan animations possible I checked some other ones too. I got a solid good two years out of that genre. CM Kosemen was probably beyond dumbfounded at the sudden popularity of what was already an old story that was just out there.
I found you from all tomorrows. After clicking on one of your videos I started watching every video I could of yours. I really like that you branched out into more scifi and speculative evolution! I love your videos and will continue to watch anything you make!
You got me into spec evo and your audiobook readings are some of my favorite content on RU-vid. I really enjoyed dinosaurs and the machine stops both of which I hope we get some videos on them going through the worlds and speculating on them and i have lost count of how many times Ive listend to Man After Man and All Tomorrows. Thank you making this channel.
Hey, BewareCast I really appreciate your content and I find it really fun and interesting, and recently I found myself binging your content, listening to your audiobook, etc. You and Curious Archive have been the driving forces in my life that have gotten me into Speculative Evolution, and I am literally very thankful that you produced this content and still keep producing content. Keep up the great work, and I'll be along for the ride. Cheers! (Sorry if I mess it up somehow, I'm not British hehe)
Wow you found it In the summer of 2021? I’ve known about it since around 2018 after I randomly stumbled across man after man and started looking for more books like it! I didn’t even know there was an all tomorrows renaissance until a girl I was interested in actually knew what it was… which had never happened before. Also my art teacher recognized a Qu I drew. Most people I talked to before the summer of 2021 had NO clue what all tomorrows was, they’d just be like: “all tomorrow’s what now?” And would get freaked out by the art lmao. I really wish I could go back and read the PDFs of man after man and all tomorrows for the first time again. Man after man genuinely disturbed me but I was very interested in it, while all tomorrows gave me a feeling of xenophobia and made me want to write my own book! Also… man after man was also extremely expensive when I discovered it in 2018, though, most of them were in the lower 100’s, they’ve definitely gone up. Perhaps it’s just a rare book?
i have followed your chaneel for about a year now and i have absolutely loved it! also like your man after man audio book introduced me to the story and a lot more spec evo projects. also i love all your other stuff too like the H.P lovecraft audio books! and i think its good that you have decided to change your name and it was probably for the better now that you have branched off to other stuff and is becoming more popular! but i mean to be honest i dont think just beware will be that great of a channel name. like i like it but when one is searching for a channel they mostly will not find the thing they are looking for if the channel is named after a commonly used word. like i think you should keep beware in the name but maybe add another word in there to make it more recognizable? like "beware the unknown" or like "beware the mind". those arent that good but like something like that. but i fully support you about your oppinion and if you want to go with just beware then that okay! it still sounds cool and mysterious so go wild!
Thanks for your input. I think you raise a good point in that maybe just Beware will make it harder for people to find. I should think of something new.
As someone who came along quite late to the All Tomorrows fandom through your channel,as in just a few months ago, I appreciate the work you’ve done! As a note of interest, The Future Is Wild was my first really memorable spec evo work that I came across, so I definitely have had an interest in other stuff you’ve done too, in addition to AT. I would say what makes AT compelling isn’t the fact that there were already evolutionary steps before the Qu got hold of humanity, but the fact that despite what the Qu tried to do, the essence of humanity, both good and bad, comes through so strongly once sentience returns to the descendant species. It’s only certain species that were truly horrifying to me: specifically the Temptors (self-evident why), the Colonials (but this is tempered by their resilience), and the Mantelopes (because what did them in was a cultural surrender, not a lack of physical fitness). By the time we get to the Second Galactic Empire, the familiarity really kicks in hard to the point where the Snake Woman, however different her form is, is basically living a snaky version of my own life! ❤ I have done a few fanfics that I posted to AO3, touching on the Qu and the Modulars. I don’t know yet whether I’ll write more as I unfortunately was quite late to the AT fandom party and I also have other bigger fandoms but maybe you’d enjoy reading them sometime when you have a bit of spare time. Have you written any stories of your own over there? If so I would be happy to read them. I wouldn’t presume to tell you what your channel name should be, though I certainly think what you have encompasses both the spec evo flair and the eldritch that comes in with some of your other stuff like your Lovecraft audiobooks, etc. So don’t feel pressured to change it unless YOU really want to yourself. It should be a personal choice.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. With regards to fan-fiction I haven't really written any myself, though I suppose my All Tomorrows Complete Timeline video would count as I added a lot of stuff. Plus, I am also working on my own spec evo project completely unrelated to All Tomorrows which I will start talking about over the next few months. When I have some spare time I'll check your stuff out too! And regarding the name change, I agree with what you said but again it just seems hard for most people to separate me from AT at this point, so a change seems necessary. At the moment I am actually leaning towards calling it "The BewareCast" as someone else pointed out that simply calling it "Beware" wont make it stand out at all. I appreciate your input.
@@BewareCast I really look forward to seeing how your project unfolds! 😃 I agree The BewareCast is better than just “Beware.” There has been a spate of AI-generated RU-vid channels since ChatGPT came out with super vague titles like just “Beware” or “Amaze” or things like that. BewareCast sounds more active like there is a human being behind it, so I would definitely say that’s a better idea. 👍 (Kyle Hill did a video about the issue with these AI channels if you want to see examples and not just things I came up with at random off the top of my head.)
I have just recently discovered your channel and I find your stuff fascinating. Your plight with youtube and your own creative strugles are unfortunately all too common. Also given your interests, I am surprised that you haven't covered Last and First Men by Olaf Stapledon. That book has started this whole speculative evolution thing.
Hey sorry a bit late I know as usual 😅 but if I'm being honest I'm really happy I found your channel, I remember at the start I'd comment on almost every single video, there were days I was so in love with your content that'd I'd watch some of your videos multiple times a day and it got me so excited when you made a new one, seriously your All Tommrows audiobook is perhaps my most viewed video on YT lol. But on a more personal note during the time it came out it was during lockdown and I was going through some pretty bad mental health issues and your video and channel honestly helped me so so much, I couldn't get enough of spec evo and all tommrows and it brought my happiness and motivation back, I was enjoying all of it so much lockdown flew by. But also i have moved onto other interests and fandoms over time I'll always love spec evo and all tommrows and your channel, I'm kinda glad I forget about it sometimes if you know what I mean cos then I come back and I'm like let's goooo so many new videos! But honestly man keep it up your doing wonderful and I look forward to seeing how your channel develops in the future!
That's amazing Gerrard. I'm glad my stuff was able to help you to feel more positively about things. I appreciate you being a fan and also being a member, and yes I remember you would comment on almost every video lol. Was nice to know I actually had some fans though haha. Was good to hear from you again mate. Hope you're keeping well. Cheers!
“Beware” seems like a good solution, given your situation and intentions. Btw have you ever read the Blindsight series? Really cool sci-fi universe with probably my favorite conception of vampire spec-evo
I think the Dougal Dixon videos didnt do as well because like you many of us were disgusted by the art and the hate towards humans got to be a bit much really quickly.
Yeah I don’t like human hate either. I root for the humans while watching avatar because (dare I say it), they were justified to try to colonize pandora. Earth was dying and they’d die out without a new homeworld. Plus the Na’vi are just a bunch of tribes that worship an alien hivemind. And there’s a clip of the humans returning in the sequel on RU-vid, and I guess a lot of people hate the human hate as they were all cheering on the humans 😂
Kosemen is pretty woke. I fear that his redux will ruin the original. Why do artists insist on destroying their previous works for various reasons? You'd think that they would learn by now!
I think when you get so divorced from current times and the species we know today, it blunts the impact of that as long as you avoid excessive cut/paste in duplicating historical events exactly. Though to be fair I can see he was at least somewhat left leaning in the way the old Star Trek: The Next Generation was so I can’t say I would feel blindsided but extensions of those themes. For now I will suspend judgment until I actually see the updated version.
