Why I Stopped Uploading & Playing League of Legends 

I’m happy for your transparency and honesty Red, I’ve loved your work since I started playing this game in 2014, you and Midbeast were the only ones I’d watch for League related content, thanks for all you’ve ever done man.

Many years watching you, I am gonna miss those journeys to challenger, but I just want you to be happy and enjoy your own content and what you do. Thanks for all of these amazing years 🤝

Hey Red, I’ve been watching you for years now and I’m glad you aren’t forcing yourself to play this game. I will say I think what you need is to do what Pants did and step away from the competitive scene and just play for fun. Spam troll builds, collab with friends, maybe bring back the flex buddies, just something to step away from toxic players and enjoy the core game with friends. It’s literally the only way I find any enjoyment out of this game for years now. To add on to some of your points, one of the biggest reasons why I feel like nothing is being done at Riot and why no improvements are happening is because Riot is going through some major lawsuits from their employees. They’re literally firing people left and right, dealing with sexual harassment charges, laying off people so they don’t have to pay insurance fees. They’re a greedy company just like the rest of the big name companies (funny that you mentioned Blizzard as they are going through the same thing rn). I have many mixed feelings on the subject because, as you said, I really do love this game. It’s been a hub for me and my friends to play and chat through the pandemic. But at the same time the people who originally made the game are pretty much all gone and the new creators really don’t give af about the game. They get what they deserve for neglecting their player base and causing problems within their own company, but it is sad to see the game slowly die. Whatever you decide to do we’re here to see you Red! Good luck and cheers!

For me the biggest problem is: im a plat 1 player for almost 3 years now. I play the game from time to time, doing like 200 games per season. How am i suppose to climb if in 10 of my games, 50 % are griefers, rages and stomps and 30 % are against challenger smurfs with 90% winrate? The ONLY way i can climb, i feel its to have no life and have 3k games per season with a 51% winrate and luck with the smurfs if they are on my team. What the fuck is this bro?

Well Red. Startet to watch ur vids right from the beginning. You and Pants were my very favorite RU-vid lol content for years. I have played league for like 12-13 years. My rank was in the Diamond elo for years, and was happy in that section due to being a dad, husband and employee at the same time. But for the last few years I have faced the same issues as you pointing out, and ended up never playing ranked games until these problems were fixed somehow. Well I'm still not playing ranked games as they are just a coinflip that riot somehow deside how the outcome will be, and the toxicity is just unbearable in like 8-9out of 10games. Sad to watch the ship go down with so many good players and content creaters. But Red, thx for many good years of great YT content, in a golden time were league of legends was just incredible, and a joyful ride.

I've been subscribed to you for YEARS since I started playing back in S3. I had to stop part way through S7-8 due to life taking over. I still tuned in to updates still and you were my go to League guy. However, I found that I stuck with you because of you and your personality. It's been years since I've been done from playing so I'd be down to see you shift into other content outside of league if you have that within your interests for RU-vid.

I honestly enjoy that game play vs ranked/regular. Its crazy how toxic the game got at some point. I even caught myself being just like them just from experiencing it so much and I guess thinking it was normal. Thanks for the videos and I hope you do some lore stuff once in a while. been watching you for a looooong time, and to see you like this makes me think of a lot, even though my thoguhts on the game have changed so much over the years, I think I'm up for a challenge myself, to focus on having fun in the game with my definition of "fun", even playing rankeds in the middle maybe... what you consider fun is not the focus of the game anymore, I guess things are bad but... things are hopeful at least? you do you, most importantly, and people will watch you for it

I fully agree on almost everything here. The biggest point being that of the community. Absolutely awful, and Riot keeps making these announcements of "we're working on it" but like you said, nothing has changed in years. Except they increased the queue timer for dodging games? Even though dodging is rather harmless in terms of lp and mental state. The only thing I slightly disagree on is the state of the new champs being obnoxious. Though there is something to be said about Zeri being nerfed like what, 5 patches in a row now?

I remember the days when I was waiting for the Tobito 1v1. Those were the golden days. When you had fun playing the game and climbing. When the Richboi Redmercy was born. I’ll miss your climbing adventures but I cannot deny that most if not all of what you pointed out about the game and it’s playerbase, is actually true. Honestly this was a refreshing video to watch. You were one of the first content creators I started watching when my ex introduced me to League. I was a support main but your content was fun, informative, and really pushed me to learn and improve with the game. You put it best. The community is toxic. Between sexist comments and being held hostage for 40 to 60 minutes by other players while they feed/rage/etc....why bother playing? There is no incentive to play a game where you leave it feeling mentally exhausted after each and every game. It's a sad state of affairs right now in League and I really hope Riot sees this and does something, ANYTHING meaningful to improve the toxicity.

I got out of lol, just strugled with urges to play for a week and then after that the idea of playing again cringes my stomach, I can't wait for the other games, the continuation of the universe and arcane season 2, the ip is really phenomenal. I've been playing lor and it is relaxing and fun, not toxic, perfect for long poop trips to the bathroom

Redmercy i follow you from a very long time and the short version of me says that you are absolutely right and league is pretty much done for what it used to be. Clearly the fcking random talk bullshit about how are they going to change the player base exhausted a very big portion of the streamers and youtubers' content. The only time i really thought that they are going to do the "BIG" step was when back in s10 voyboy talked and the poor guy as i remember almost cried not only because he was pissed for the player base but for the LOVE that he has for this game and im pretty sure many people like me are in love with this game so with the years some of the as you said "only one righteous guy in the team" ARE GONE and these good people just because from the shit of other players and riot's careless breathe work are now polluting even more and more the few good hearted guys left who will eventually join the rest of the player base and it will just cycle until there is place only for hatred, curse and wishes for the worst possible things in life's people. BUT the most important argument of yours for me is that there is too much teamwork to be done and that absolutely purely makes the game sort of "casino" oriented which is not what this game should do and be. I writed this comment with a lot of sad thoughts in the process and a little anger. So you can figure what effect this game had on my life back in the good old days. (Sorry for bad english btw)

I've been trying to to play unmuted and I get tilted. I've tried muting all and leaving the pings but I do 1, 2 mistakes and the ping spam is tilting me and making me lose my temper or lose my focus on the game from there. I can play at my best in all muted but then there are players who probably type to me or ping me for dangers or are just tilted for some reason that I haven't seen in the chat and then as the only player muted and untilted, I get to play almost alone. Removing the chat is the best solution and reducing the ping spam to 2-3 ping at 6 seconds gap.

Hey Red, after 10 years of religiously playing the game, I quit/stopped playing LoL earlier this year before Renata came out, and started playing Lost Ark. You should come over to LA, it’s very chill, they will be adding moba game mode to it soon, tho it’s just for fun and not main content.

I'd love it if you can review one tricks as maybe one of the 'sub-series' of this series perhaps in contrast to other streamers.

Not gonna lie I actually really enjoyed this sit down real talk type video, I'm glad you and a few others are actually trying to make a change in the LOL community/game. I used to play probably 10+ games a day with my friends back up till like Season 8 then the game started to get really frustrating and dry. It become more and more obvious that Riot just wanted to make money off of 50 lux skins then actually balancing and letting players enjoy the game, small things like removing Clans, Twisted Treeline, Dominion, It doesn't seem like much but getting rid of those made League lose a lot of it's uniqueness. I loved spending hours playing hide and seek on dominion or just taking a break and trying out TTL with 2 other friends. I hope Riot revives the game and creates some sort of "Classic League" mode or alternative for the players who have been playing for a long time. Been playing Since Season 4 and its been a fun ride but I can barely handle playing the game even ONCE per day. Tragic.

Idk but for me at least it's kinda been the opposite. Last season Diamond/Masters elo had a lot more toxicity and games that were just over immediately from players not trying, but this season barely any of my games I've actually ran into someone inting or stuff like that. That's just my experiences though

totally feel you bro. Been around since 2012. I think e sports creates the desire to climb and be the best player. Failing at that is frustrating and people get so Tilt over it. Toxicity gotten worse I can confirm that. People can’t differ between someone having a bad game or getting outplayed or losing to a clearly stronger match up. I’m curious how the riot Feedback to your video will be. Riot will encounter these problems in the future for sure but I think we will just laugh when we hear their solutions. All the best for you

My friends and I started playing between the end of season two and start of season three and we talk about all the time how much more toxic the game has become. Also most of us(not all of us but most) agree on is they’re tightening the meta WAY too much and not in a good way.

💯 agree with everything Red says, most of all with champions. I stop playing regular when Viego come to the game, and after him it was just got worst. All in all I think Riot doesn't do good job with the game last 2 years and a lot of players come to this point where they are just done with it. I agree its very frusterating how team oriented the game is now when they don't improve other areas because its the same game now but its wayyyyy harder to carry now and the amount of champions and roles that can do it are signifigantly reduced.

Almost 3 years ago I was playing League Ranked and my Jinx ADC was running it down while streaming it live on twitch(!!!), the game was lost and everyone else had some fun in all chat and at the end I told the enemys to report our Jinx, which they all agreed to. That resulted in me getting a chat ban (i opened a ticket and the riot supporter said it was because i "shouldnt tell others what to do"). The chat ban caused being lower than honor level 2 and getting no season rewards for that season. That was my first season getting diamond after lot of years playing the game. I couldnt believe what happened and realised how fucked up this game is. I lost every minute i put into this game over the most dumb thing ever. I play an ARAM once every few months now for the nostalgia, the game died for me.

I agree with you saying that the games sucks Red The player base is terrible A lot needs to change when it comes to the game's player base But due to the way toxicity is being handled is Tragic Along with that the game has changed so much gameplay wise but yet still not t many things are implemented for us to catch up to how much things have changed in game LOL is more team based every new season that comes and it really hurts the game due to how toxic the game is right now
