Thanks for watching folks! Apologies for the 'gear-heavy' video! At least you now know what i'll be shooting with here on the channel moving forward! 📸 Also, be sure to subscribe to Scott's channel here: www.youtube.com/@ScottEdwards 🎬🎥
@@chrisharveyphotography anytime Bro, I shoot multiple Brands for work, but switched fully over to LUMIX for my Personal Business. 5 Bodies, 10 Lenses later 😂 I guess I found a reliable system.
@@moneyboys2010 im wanna do both photo and video im using my current nikond90 and nikon d5000 for photos as they cant take proper video as they are 10 years old. would you suggest me to buy nikon z6iii or lumix s5ii ?
+1 to what you have said about S5II, I’ve been using my for almost two years as a backup to Leica SL2-S. Recently I purchased an APO SL 2.0/50 this lens shines on both of these bodies.
Thanks Josh, really appreciate it! I'm blown away by it, i've been having such a blast! I actually watched a couple of your videos about the S5ii - they were really helpful man, your videos are great! 👌🏻
Went from Sony and Fujifilm to Lumix S5 and Olympus PEN-F. I also decided to trade-in my Lumix GX80, 12-32 Kit Lens and Voigtlander Color-Skopar 35mm f2.5 to a mint Lumix G9 + Leica DG 12-60 f2.8-4. Like you, I started to like the Lumix Colors and even started to move away from Post Processing, just in-camera Film Recipes. Nice sample photos and video, thanks!
@@boahandarrowsproductions4326 Got the Lumix G9 and the Leica DG 12-60 and all I can say is WOW... I know it is subjective but I find the Lumix colors closer to Leica ( I used to own the Leica T and TL even the DIGILUX 2 ) and it is hard to explain but looks more natural to me, more pleasing, more realistic. I still have my Fujifilm X-E3 and XF 18-55 but every time I use it, I feel like I am forced to use Film Simulations, it is this feeling that I don't like.
@@brompterdam Wow, I see what you mean. I usually shoot with Raw and jpg and tweak in post a bit. I might like to try a Leica and see what that shooting experience is like. Thank you.
Fantastic choice! I also started switching to primes just over a year ago now, and I love the challenge it provides when out on location. I now travel pretty light, and on most trips I'll limit myself to one prime to see what I can create.
Thanks for watching Chris, really appreciate it mate! Yeah these primes are fantastic, I did my first proper shoot yesterday (next week's video) and absolutely loved the primes, the image quality is amazing and they really make you think about composition! I'm a big fan 👌🏻
I find this encouraging, because I'm currently on a Lumix bridge camera (the FZ1000ii), basically as my starter "learning the basics of photography" camera, and my plan is to not upgrade before 2026, at which time I'll start doing research...but I'm lying if I say I haven't started low-key paying attention to what's out there! I'm not one to rigidly maintain brand loyalty, but my experience with my current camera is sufficiently good that I'll be almost certainly giving Lumix the first look when I do decide it's time to start looking around. Your good results thus far (along with some other people I've talked to) are encouraging!
Had an fz1000 for years. Loved it! This year I upgraded to Lumix G95 micro 4/3 system. Love it! The transition from fz1000 is fairly seamless. Highly recommend micro 4/3 as the lenses are much smaller than full frame
@@KellySedinger just to chip in... I use Lumix FZ330 bridge cam and also Lumix M43 and also Fuji apsc. I occasionally have access to Nikon full frame. With each increase in sensor size you can see an improvement in low light capability when working at high ISO. M43 is fine for professional use but you may end up relying on editing software a bit more to clean up low light images. It's less work with full frame. Also depends on your definition of low light and the situation. If you're using flash or video lights it helps a lot. Bridge camera sensors are pretty small compared to the others, so whatever you 'upgrade' to will show an improvement on low light. Lenses also make quite the difference. Bad lenses will give poor results even on the larger sensors. Try some fast primes to take your photography to the next level. They are helpful in low light. Also, keep the bridge camera. For everyday use they are great and versatile. Sorry for the ramble.
@@KellySedinger significantly better than the 1inch sensor in the FZ1000. Not as good as I have seen APC and full frame users achieve. Did some night sky tests in my backyard. I was happy. Again not as good as larger sensors, but pretty darn good. Could easily be a skill issue.
My full frame camera was a Canon 5D mark iv. I wanted to switch to mirrorless and was seriously considering the Lumix S5ii X. In the end, I decided to stick with Canon and just got an R5 ii a couple of weeks ago, but the S5ii really packs a punch. I've never been a fan of Sony for many reasons.
Great first impression. I myself have a Canon R5, as I wanted a hybrid camera. When I use the R5 when recording video in highest quality it gets very warm to very hot to hold. This may seem crazy but I want to sell it for the LUMIX S5IIX. Thanks again for your insight
Great stuff fella! Very informative, I would be buzzing to watch this if I was weighing up the same camera so hopefully it finds all the people in need of that push that you got from the others vids!! 🎉
Thanks man I really appreciate that! 😊🙏🏻 Definitely feels like i've only skimmed the surface so fingers crossed there's some value in this video but first impressions are so positive with this camera! 👌🏻
Cameras are a box with a sensor. A BOX. I switched from Pentas to Canon to Nikon F2. You know what? None of that changed my picture quality, but I got my Nikon in Japan where it was much less expensive than in the U.S. Changing cameras is nuts. Many of my best photos was taking with film cameras, totally mechanical, no automation, cameras. It's not the camera, it's the artist using the camera.
I have a s5 with the 20-60 mm as I am a none video amateur photographer I was surprised how good this camera is, The contrast, sharpness and colour is outstanding for the price.
Absolutely agree Mark! The files are so nice to work with and that 20-60mm kit lens is absolutely mind blowing! To call it a kit lens feels wrong because it's incredibly sharp!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment! Not my usual style of video but I feel like a lot more people need to know about this camera! 😊
Awesome! Yeah man, people dont beleive me when I tell them it is the best value full frame camera with the most features, but it is an amazing camera. Of all my sony, and canon cameras, it is still my favorite!
I switched from an A7III to an S5II, and I'm very happy with it too. What I don't like are the weight and size of the camera; this thing is a tank. I'm thinking about buying a compact Fuji for traveling. And at the moment, there aren't many lens options available except for Sigma. Maybe Samyang in the future? But I'd also like to see Tamron, Sirui, and Viltrox on the L-mount.
Thanks for watching and for leaving a comment mate! I agree, the size is different to the Sony A7ii, took some adjusting to but I actually quite like the hefty grip and overall weight... kinda feels reassuring 😄. But a compact everyday camera is always a great investment when you want to travel light! Yeah some more third party lens options would be good. Especially from Tamron as I really enjoyed their 28-75mm f2.8 lens on my Sony
I went the other way. Had a GH4 which I loved apart from the shocking auto focus. I waited for years for Panasonic to sort it out but got fed up and switched to Sony FX30. Panasonic have finally sorted out auto focus and have world class stabilisation but I'm happy with Sony the only thing that might tempt me back now in internal ND filters. For video in the prosumer space Panasonic and Sony rule IMO it just comes down to which of the features where each excels is more important to you.
Thanks mate! I’m blown away so far! It’s a big change from the Sony a7iii.. but in a good way 👌🏻. Slowly getting to grips with it! Thanks for watching buddy 🙏🏻
As someone who owns a a7iv and a s5 you are so right, but at this stage Im looking at a zv e1 for higher frame rates in full frame at an affordable price. I really think Panasonic dropped the ball with the S5iix if that camera had had 60fps full frame (even line skipped) I would buy two.
Sorry I should have been more clear! What I was getting at was shooting on a tripod would eliminate camera movement which would make the image stitching process a little easier in camera. Not essential, just how I'd use it when shooting landscapes 😊
Thanks! That's absolutely true! Sorry I should have been more clear! What I was getting at was shooting on a tripod would eliminate camera movement which would make the image stitching process a little easier in camera. Not essential, just how I'd use it when shooting landscapes 😊
Hope the new camera system meets your expectations in the long term, Chris. How are low light performance, battery life, custom button/dial options, and menu navigation? (Does this model tell you when you are at sea level?😂). A follow-on vid, e.g., 4 months of use, would be telling. BTW, my YT viewing device default vid resolution is 720p, so did not detect quality diff from prior posts. Cheers!
Thanks Paul! All great questions that i'm curious about myself! I'll need to spend a lot more time with it before I know those answers but first impressions are incredibly positive! I'll be sure to do that! 4 months feels like a good amount of time given how much I shoot! 👌🏻📸 Good to know that would be of interest! Might be worth seeing if there are any 'advanced settings' where you can select your own playback resolution. In the youtube player, where you selected the resolution, it may give you a few more options 👌🏻😊
@@chrisharveyphotography Yes, 1080p is the YT setting topside resolution option, but on my aging iPad I can’t detect much difference. Will have to accept your word that IQ is spectacular.😁
@chrisharveyphotography I was tempted but in the end I ended up getting a Lumix G9ii with the 12-60 Leica F2.8-4 and the 25mm F1.7 as well as a spare battery for about £1700 it cost me!
Hey chris , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
I have Sony a7IV and Lumix S5II . If we speak about event photography : Lumix has less DR , its rly easy overexpose highlights , AF struggles way more ( better with native lenses than Sigma 28-70, 35 1.4) , less Mp , Raw File size is enormous and no options for smaller files, working with flash( godox system ) is pain intheaaass, so slow, turns on /sleep off is slower , bulky, positives : LCD is better , colors and sensor I would say better, noise on high Iso better! Sharpness! omg , Lumix is so sharp cuz it has no OLP filter, ( moire because of that). Overall Lumix feels like a work horse ( as Canon 5dm3) . But Af perfomance for some serious isnt that good as Sony /Canon.
@mex5341 I've used the same autofocus on the G9ii for fast moving and small subjects like Puffins. If it can do that with ease there's basically nothing it can't do
If you manually set the proper white balance, shoot SLOG3, and use a good corrective LUT you will get amazing colors. I use the EOS alpha LUT from Eric Lenz - it’s amazing.
Yeah I know a few people who feel this way! You can get good colours but you have to do so much work to get them! With the Lumix, I don't even need to do anything to HSL sliders in LR and colour grading video is a dream if the white balance is set correctly 👌🏻
Congratulations for getting a real camera and dumping Chinese radio 😂😂😂 Panasonic is absolutely stunning and there is nothing wrong with AF . It stunning AF for photographers who know what they are doing. Sony is highly over rated and system for RU-vid photographers.
