Nice move. I've had the S5iiX for a while and love it and have zero concerns about it overheating. For the record, a few years ago I had the GH5 and S1H powered and both running for 35 hours non stop outside, both night and day, sometimes in the rain, in the summer whilst hot-swapping cards and they performed flawlessly. I was filming a record attempt for Guinness World Records. A few years prior to that, I did the same over 108 hours using the GH4 and Sony PMW EX1. No problems even when the Sony was soaked during a storm. Lumix cameras are amazing and you are going to love the S5iiX 💪👍
I have also changed my camera from a7iii to S1H.. but for other reasons. I don’t understand these overheating complaints. I live in India. I have been shooting with a7iii since 2018 in scorching heat. For 6 years I have never experienced overheating issue while shooting. I have shot in 40-50 degree C during every Indian summer and my camera didn’t die.
The A7iii shoots 8 bit 4:2:0 4k 24p and 4k 30p with a crop. The A7IV shoots in 10 bit 4:2:2 oversampled from 7k upto 4k 30p and 4k 60p with an APSC crop. A lot more heat generated by the processors for the small body to radiate the heat away.
Great insights! Are you shooting in 4K? This only happened when I switched to 4K ALL-I codec. I want to record in the highest quality and unfortunately the Sony just wouldn’t allow it unless I rigged up a fan to it
Sir, you could use some sleep. Really. Great video by the way. Sony's heating issue is a show stopper and it is really a shame they could not address it all these years. So long.
I didn’t switch. And why use the A7IV for long form video? That’s what the FX cameras are from. Though I used my A7IV for hours also in the UK. I also used it in 35 degree humid heat in south west Japan with no overheat warning. Good luck with Panasonic but I think it’s nuts changing a camera body when lenses are far more important.
@@Just-Nicoit has ProRes raw and to be honest I prefer imagine off the FX3 sensor. But the main point is lenses and just don’t think L mount competes yet. And it just seems strange to change a whole system and lose all that money. Even more where the A74 is a more photo centred camera anyway.
@@neilrocks25 prores RAW is external you need extra monitor for that, with that the s5iix also has it. And for the image to me the s5iix looks better than the fx3. Actually I tried to watch the creator which is shot with the fx3 and didn't really liked how it looks I stopped the movie after 10 minutes. Alien from the 90s looks far better
@@Just-Nico I know a ninja v. The reds look so bad on S5ii, they just do not look natural. The S5ii is a great camera but it’s just not there yet and it does not have the lenses yet. The auto focus isn’t there yet either. Give it 2 more gen and sort out the reds and then we are talking. Hopefully it will get a better range of lenses. Alien is from the 70’s and film, also recorded in anamorphic. Not 90’s at all. And if you can’t watch a movie because of the camera it’s shot on then how can anyone take you seriously?
@@neilrocks25 l mount has enough lenses right now and it can be easily adapted to pl and EF and also the autofocus works more than enough with EF lenses. And with the autofocus I've seen the s5ii compared to the a7iv and by surprise the autofocus on the s5ii worked actually better than the a7iv. Now with alien there are several movies yes starting from 79 but I was referring to one from the 90s like alien 3 which I didn't specify. And with the creator is not that I didn't watch it because of the camera but because I just simply didn't like how the image looks I don't care about what camera was used. I don't have nothing against Sony 😄
I also Just recently got an S5IIX and the same kit with the kit lens and the 50 mil . nice kit and very great quality. I kept my a7iv for event photos. Subbed to support a fellow S5IIX Newbie
Sweet! I have been impressed with it. I would have loved to keep one of my A7IV's for the same reason but couldn't afford to right now. Thanks for the sub! (Returned the favour, looking forward to your content!)
@@anishaandsunjay I understand that totally. It's not cheap and I may be selling one of my other cameras . I would really like to get the sigma 24-70 f2.8 mark ii for L mount .
It has a fan so it’s not supposed to overheat. No signs so far in my usage. You can choose whichever bit rate you wish. 10 or 8 even 16 bit raw with an external recorder!
The A7IV is a Hybrid camera and you stated you knew its limitations. Maybe the FX line is more appropriate for your needs and you could still use your glass.
I did consider it. However the price of two FX3’s was something that wasn’t in the budget. Features such as SSD recording and 6K open gate were a no brainer for my particular workflow - and I saved money in the process 💰
