Its weird how his job got monotonous for him but for us viewers we looked forward to it. I know for me being a corporate dude in Texas I really looked forward to it. I've never been to the PNW and probably will never go but I'm thankful for the videos to show it to me. I always liked the basic camping videos and the best part is you cooking. Your cooking has inspired me to cook more at home. Hope you find happiness just glad you're ok.

My wife and I are both retired. We have a vintage truck and camper. We thoroughly enjoy your videos and always look forward to your next one since the days of the Slumber Queen. We don't venture out much but you've taken us on many adventures with you and your cooking segments are always a treat. Especially the Hot Pot and Thanksgiving segments. Since the camper sale, my wife kept asking every week if there were any Jonathan Yentch videos posted yet. When I told her "Hey, there's a new Jonathan Yentch!' she rushed in from the kitchen and we both tuned in. We were a bit surprised by the camper sale but we're not disappointed in your decision now that you've given us an update. We understand your reasoning behind it; life has changes. So, what ever videos you decide to make I'm sure they will be as good as ever. We'll be waiting. Best Wishes!

John, you were one reason I pulled the trigger on a truck camper and sold my 5th wheel. It has connected me to the outdoors again. Most importantly it brought me closer to my kids and wife. We literally camp every weekend here. My kids and wife love the outdoors and adventure. Your videos made an impact on people that you will never realize. That’s why people are upset. We actually have a connection with you without ever meeting. Thank you for helping me make a decision on “just a camper,” that brought my family so close together. At my ripe old age of 67, I now believe that being happy is a decision I have make internally. Then I look for the gratitude I need to acknowledge to myself in everything in my life. If I cannot "feel" happy, on a given day, then I try harder on seeking the gratitude I need to realize. Life is an interesting journey. You be true to yourself my young friend. You are a good and kind person. You've brought alot of enjoyment to others with your videos thus far. and I am grateful to you and your youthful spirit. 🥰🥰 And your dog is beautiful! One day at a time, be present in the moment --that's what I try , best of everything to you!

I agree, I’m 55 and spent most of my life always chasing something “better “ I thought was out there and then I realized just to be grateful and content with my life and now I live my life with a sense of gratitude for what I’ve been blessed with. Sometimes it’s just the simple things in life that bring the most happiness but we miss it chasing something else we think will make us happy.

It's your life and your life resonates with a lot of us in many different ways. It keeps your viewers grounded, reminds us in stressful times, to just go out in nature, or if one thing fails, try another. Your videos are so much more than a rinse and repeat. Jonathan, do what you want to do. Do what you love. That’s what people want to see. I’m what I call a “quiet content creator.” I share what I want, when I want. I have strong boundaries because my hobbies are also my work. I don’t have a channel, but have beat myself up for a while because so many people tell me to start one including my friends with channels. Your story is that of many creators. This is why I have never started a channel. It does something to the mind. I’m born and raised in Portland. I know the majority of the places that you go to, but I still love watching your point of view. I’m not a photographer or videographer. I rely on jobs and friends to show my point of view through cameras. Your cinematography skill set is seen through your videos and I get to revisit places through a high quality lens. Instead of my wobbly old iPhone videos.😂 Maybe editing, collaboration or filming with others could be a steady income stream. Definitely not predictable. And you set your availability. Don’t niche too hard. It becomes your identity and can make it hard to see your other talents. Do all the things, no matter what category it fits in. I’m known for mycology, outdoor education, social justice, truffle dogs, fiber arts, broomcorn… And my income comes from all. Dreams are allowed to change. I’d sit down with you for a coffee or hike! Google me. I don’t bite. We have both been through it within the past 5 years. Aside from my childhood friends, I’ve made the closest friends during those years. Community is the best medicine.

Interestingly, just the day before you published this video, I was browsing the internet to see if I could find out the answers to the status of your channel. Several RU-vid content creators I regularly watched had recently gone radio silent without notice. It is disappointing when that happens - kind of like a favorite TV show getting cancelled abruptly. I am glad you took the time to carefully consider the big picture of your life. The update (though ultimately your decision) is greatly appreciated and is exactly why many other loyal viewers like me, look forward to the “What’s Next?” It may all change somewhere down the road but I am confident you will handle it with plenty of thought and class. Best wishes going forward.

Just know that it doesn't take much to entertain. And the videos don't have to be more and more exciting or dangerous. Just a new location visit and review, maybe a helpful camping tip each time. Like how do you cook outside with a rocket stove... only needing a few sticks for fuel. Tips for us on easy throw together camping dinners. What are the nearby attractions if we went there. Maybe start staying at some of the campgrounds and let us know how it was. Let us meet the awesome camp owners. I also like survival tips. Bugout bags, best way to make drinking water from a lake, lake fishing tips, other than fly fishing, 😊 That looks hard to me. Well, I hope you can enjoy each trip that you plan. (My next purchase is going to be a 6 foot pop-up camper). I've seen older ones for pretty cheap. Thanks for the update.

I have two things to say about that video: 1- you let an really bad impression when you sell the camper without saying anything about it and it gets worse when the next video after that was an 10 minute ad. The video about that thing to put under the bed was also "too ad". We are strangers and you dont need to make decisions based on what we want. But we like you and your content so it was like an friend that we make camping trips together selling the camper without saying nothing to us. 2- That loop of coffe, exploring, little ad with context, exploring and comming back to the camper and cooking sounds repetitive and basic but maybe is what i really like, the videos becames a cool and relaxed place to calm down. Sounds like its the same thing over and over but its always a diferent place, diferent food, good comentary, good historys, charisma and top tier cinematography. Keep going man, i'm waiting for new videos.

Jon, first of all thank you for the update. I'm sure I wasn't alone wondering what was going on with you and hoping you were well. Now with that said, props to you for being so open and honest about what you've been going through. You're not alone. I think that at some time in our lives we all have periods that we question not only what we're doing but the very foundation of who we are and our place in our world. I can only speak for myself but the reason I've enjoyed your videos wasn't just for the camping, travel and cooking but YOU. It is your personality and humor that is so engaging and enjoyable. It's really like hanging out with a buddy and enjoying time spent together. Please don't ever discount the value of you being you. Your interaction with what's going on around you is a pleasure to watch and experience with you in absentia. We only wish we could be sitting across a campfire talking and laughing with you. It's an overused saying but you need to be you and that's enough. Yes, if you find something new to be excited about we'll be excited with you. I have no doubt about that. I've rambled but I just wanted you to know that it's ok. It's ALL OK. I look forward to whatever you decide to do next. Hugs, Jules ❤

Jonathan- I completely understand where you're coming from. My calling was to be a nurse ever since I was little. When I became a nurse it was pretty cool for a time. Then I got disenchanted and I found the way to ignite my interest again was to try a different specialty and do that for a while. I did that several times. Now, after my last layoff, I find myself in a position where I can't go back to work in the traditional sense because I have a parent I have to take care of. Through that, I realized I no longer wanted to return to the traditional setting. It no longer makes me happy. I still love the profession, but the current settings in which we have to work are just too much BS now. So I am also having to figure this out as well. I have learned that you can truly love a profession, but if the version of it you've been doing doesn't make you happy, then it's not worth doing. Life is too short to compromise. As the best boss I ever had said "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life!" and he was right. I'll be watching your channel whatever you produce, because it's always interesting to me, and your videography is beautiful. And since I'm stuck at home with my Mom, I can't get out to the trees and rivers right now. So I really appreciate being able to adventure vicariously through people like you!

It’s always good to hear from you. As you can see from comments some of us have similar outdoor interests. Some even live vicariously through you and others like you. I for one hope that you decide to continue the outdoor activities. For what it’s worth the “journey” as it were, is yours. You go wherever you want. Maybe continue with sharing the videos and even pictures and I for one will continue to follow along. 🤙

Jonathan, you may be thinking too much. I've done it too. I've said it before, you are a very creative person. Sometimes a break (like you've done) is exactly what you need to do. You've had your break. Now hop to it. Do what you love doing. Creating videos. Any videos. Topics don't matter.

You're young and this need for change and the not knowing exactly how to go about that is just part of the journey we take through life. I'm glad you are figuring out what will spark joy and interest and sharing your pursuit of whatever that looks like! Until the next post, stay safe. Tracey from San Diego, California

You were my inspiration, and still are. I am 61 years old, have 2 master degrees (Education: Curriculum and Instruction, and the other in Archaeology of the Near East) and can not find a full time job. I have to move out of the tiny house I am renting. I just bought a camper shell like the one you bought before. In fact, I bought it too at USA Camper Shell in Montclair, CA. By the way, I told Martín, the owner, that I got inspired by you. He remembers you well and he is very thankful for the push in advertising you made. I am converting now that camper in what it is going to be my home. It sits on my Toyota Tundra, extended cab. I hope to see more of you and your adventures. One thing that I really like of you is how genuine you are. No filters, no acting, just natural and with a good heart. Lovely! A true inspiration. I wish you the best and I am looking forward to go along with you in your rides. Have fun!!

I believe you have a bright future ahead of you, with whatever you choose to do. You are so honest in your love for life and nature. Stay true, keep your positivity and it will all work out. Hey Jonathan first of all I would like to say I appreciate and admire your honesty and vulnerableness and integrity that you have displayed in this video! I’ve followed you along your journey and it’s always been a pleasure to watch you. RU-vid is a tough business from what I understand and tough decisions will come and go. I personally don’t care about the camper! I personally came to the channel again and again to see you! Downsizing and just adventuring wether it’s spear fishing along the coast, camping, hiking, biking regular fishing or whatever is just an added bonus for me because like I said I watch the channel because of you! You’ll find your place! Hope all is well and keep your head up brother!

You may think that you are "just a random dude on RU-vid" - but I beg to differ. You are a rather decent, nice, funny and adventurous "random dude on RU-vid" - that I want to watch on a regular basis. I live in New York City - in an apartment building where what you can pay for a parking spot is what some folks pay for rental housing for the entire month. There are very few places where one can just "hop in their camper" and enjoy vast areas of open parkland free from other humans - unless you want to drive at 1east 100 miles away. Watching your videos (and a few others) as inspired me to actually take up the task of renting a small camper van to go on such an adventure. "You know the drill" - as you have told us plenty of times. You are a joy to watch - your reactions to your coffee and beers! The way that you tackle problems, and enjoy yourself among nature. Within three days of making this video - you had 675 comments! I'm pretty sure that there are other folks that might not comment - but are glad that you will be back. "You know the drill" - as you have told us plenty of times.

Thank you for the update and for sharing with us what a good girl and good dog your puppy has grown into. I agree, your video were becoming very redundant, the formula was exactly as you explained. I would still watch, but they had lost their flavor. And sharing that you weren't having fun anymore is probably why. Those of us with a conscience around the globe have been struggling for a year now. It's been a year of horror for those of us paying attention to the happenings in the world which to say are not good would be the understatement of the century. Or at least of my lifetime, 64 years and counting. If taking a break from RU-vid in this season of your life is what you needed. No one can fault you for a thing, as you said, it's your life, you get to live it. You most certainly don't have to answer to strangers. I will say that your photography and explorations of the nature around you there gave me great joy and was a feast for my eyes. I may never get to see it in person, but through your lense I feel as if I have. Through your adventures I feel as if I've experienced them as well and I thank you for that. You also fed my OCD issues and didn't trigger me or make me uncomfortable ever. I'm OCD clean and organized. I can't even eat a meal out as I don't know their food handling or how clean the kitchens are. Yep, I have it bad. I'd rather be OCD clean and organized than be a slob or a hoarder, so there's that. God be with you Johnathan. I was looking for something until I was 19. I felt that there was something missing in my life that would make me happy. I just couldn't figure out what that something was. It wasn't in money, success, relationships, experiences, you name it, I looked, I had, I did and yet, none of it was it. What I was looking for was salvation and what was missing was the Holy Spirit that lives within me now. It was what was missing, nothing else. They weren't missing clothing in the garden of Eden. They were missing the Holy Spirit of God that was dweling inside of them before the fall. That touch, that spark, a breath, a drop of power, that can only be given by God. I needed to accept the free gift that Jesus gave us through His sacrifice. The covering of our sins, so we are cleaned and made holy vessels, so once again the Holy Spirit of God could dwell within.
