Why I've Had Enough of Adobe Products 

I had CS5, Subscriptions were already in effect when I went back into needing to use Adobe. I managed to convince them to get CS6 and pay for the upgrade from CS5-CS6. My situation was a bit different, it’s when I became disabled but wanted to have suite for my mental health. CS5 was bricked because of OS upgrade.

You know, if you're using a Mac, support for CS6 would have ended many years ago so it would have been impossible, unless you maintained an old machine. But, with each OS upgrade, the software runs slower and slower to the point where it would just aggravate you to use it. Things are a little bit different on the Windows side. As of Windows 10, I'm still able to install and run CS3. The backwards compatibility far better than with MacOS. Not that I'm championing Windows over Macs. I hate Windows but this one thing has always been a big advantage, along with pricing. But with Adobe, I continued to use CS3 until 2017 where I finally decided that I was missing out on too much and I started to subscribe to Adobe CC. I'm not a fan of subscriptions, but for Illustrator and Photoshop there's just nothing nearly as good. There are lots of other programs that people refer to as "alternatives" but I haven't found that to be true. But I think it's true for other Adobe products. There are real competitors that are as good and better than Adobe's products.

@@KuttyJoe Up to few months ago I was using CS6 on my old mac. I was hoping to be in a place where I could have bought a newer mac or pc keep my CS6. But alas, I couldn’t and I updated it. Adobe made it clear to me that I couldn’t move my license to window based machine. I’m disabled on limited income. So whatever extra I have goes to necessities. In my case was I got a new 3D printer and sadly I needed to upgrade my mac. I do run windows 10 on that machine, but that would have limited my ability and security of the slicer I needed to use. When the time comes, I will get a new machine, and restore that Mac so I can get illustrator back. But the simple fact they wouldn’t allow me to move my license to windows….kind of put the nail into the coffin for me. As much as I love the mac, it does have its flaw, those flaws are not enough for me to go all the way into windows. At one point my business revolved around Adobe, but it’s no longer the case. Adobe usage for me at this point is just workflow comfort. Nothing more. I paid a lot over the years, but it doesn’t worth financially to keep paying for it.

Yeah I think it took me a while to see that. ps: If you have recommendations. I need a replacement for premiere and photoshop.

@@driesketels to replace photoshop 1 - for photo editing I'd say Affinity Photo ( the suite is on sale right now, Photo, Designer ( illustrator replacement ) and Publisher ( InDesign replacement ) 2- for art like illustration go with Krita if you like it free, Clip Studio paint if you like to pay. To replace premiere I strongly suggest Davinci Resolve. Happy migration ! :)

​@@driesketels Photoshop = Affinity Photo. No Subscription, no machine learning, no creative useless cloud, you can do 80-90% of what you do on Photoshop (at the moment 50% off) Premiiere = Da Vinci Resolve. The Free version is really good and can do pretty much all the things Premiere can. The Fusion page is hard to learn but you can live without it.

Maybe affinity photo and Final Cut pro:)

@@driesketels I'm begining to use Canva Affinity suite. Half the price of a year's Adobe for a one-off fee.

Sounds like a famous strategy that many have been copy pasting over the years. First make it free and then let people pay for it

@@belac4979 There are a lot of names and websites the YT censor bots will delete automatically within just a few seconds.

@@driesketels For editing videos I think the more advanced there is is KDEnlive, another one I like is Olive, then there's openshot and shotcut, but they're too buggy in my opinion

Yeah agree. Music has been pirated for years. I think 'pirating music' is the sole reason why the internet got caught on in the first place but that is a totally different discussion.

@@driesketels For artists and all those who want to work in confidentiality and block cookies from operating systems or software, especially with the massive integration of AI which pumps everything to feed itself, nothing better than being equipped with 'an offline machine.

you seem to be the guy that I need. I need a replacement for premiere and photoshop. Would that be Davinci Resolve and Photo?

@@AddiRockART Please try to post your findings again. My PC is dead, so I need to visit Costco and purchase a replacement, and I had decided that I wanted to put Photoshop on it because in addition to making prints, I wanted to try making designs for fabric, too. However, anything I create for fabric designs may need to be able to be worked on again in Photoshop by buyers if I am fortunate enough to make some design sales. For that reason, I may be better off sticking with Photoshop? Also, I think most of the software training I need is geared towards Photoshop as well. They really do have a pretty tight hold on the market. :/

@@CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx you just export from affinity photo as a psd and you can import your adobe brushes library. Affinity has a huge library on RU-vid for their software.

I subscribe to this comment section in hope of guidance from @AddiRockART @@CarolinaCarolina-ph9mx I heared Affinity Suite is very good for surface pattern design. And depending of what you need to do and if you have an iPad, Procrate is very affordable and good for the start (that's how I am doing it atm. But I step up my game with Affinity) Hope it helps. 👋

AI cannot think outside of the box. It can only reuse, in different combinations, whatever LLMs are in the box. Only those in the digital world, who can think outside of the box, will not collapse.
