My 2 cents on the electrical issues you had early on is that the battery connection issue was the whole problem. Being a Volvo tech I can say I've experienced vehicles with sensitive electrical components do all sorts of crazy shit if a battery connection is loose or if the sytem voltage gets below 12volts. It's amazing what problems a bad connection can cause in an electrical system
@CycleCruza

idk, could be but I doubt it. Whatever it was the bike has been fine ever since. I had the bike serviced by the Aprilia dealership I bought it from before I even took possession of it. I was able to put in a dispute with my credit card company and I got my money back for the service.

Aprilia is weird when it comes to updating their bikes. That put on all of the latest electronics but fail to update little things like LED headlights and a fuel gauge, also their designs are a bit outdated as well. However, this bike is a sick bike to ride, a beast that sounds like a MotoGP bike.

I gotta say this and I'm not usually a negative dude but, bro, this information is awful. Every single complaint you said on this bike was either fixed or you said makes sense. Electronics were fixed, no more problem. Just because you don't trust the bike because of the ONE problem you had (that was fixed immediately) doesn't mean it's a bad bike. I've had my 2017 Tuono since it was new and never had a problem. Why you gotta talk smack about a bike just because it doesn't fit you?? If you're going to be a guy reviewing stuff, you gotta take your personal choices out of the equation. It was at this moment 10:23 I decided to comment "A lot more reliable then they used to be." I've ridden ape's as far back as 2007 when buying my 1st gen tuono 2004 with rotax engine, I have a 2003 tuono racing and a 2016 tuono factory. I thrashed the 2004 first gen tuono for 20k miles and the only thing it wanted was fuel and oil these bikes are known to go 100k easy, there was no aprilia dealers back in 2007 and not many now, the only place you had really was is AF1 racing and the forum. these bikes are monsters and thrash proof. I started my own little aprilia clan with friends back then and we always rode with a smile every ride, knowing there was no dealer, no parts except from crashed bikes, and guess what we still all have are bikes no issues some over 30k miles with mods, exhausts, forged wheels, gabro chips god of speed aprilia.

I have to say, that your excuses about why you selling the Aprilia are weak. You preaching about working on the bike to be a REAL RIDER but, you not willing to learn about Aprilia that's lame on your part. I have 2 Aprilia RSV4 one it's track duty, the other street duty... I love the bike some much, the I bought a CBR 600RR to share the load of track duties. It's true that Italians are high maintenance, labor and parts are way more expensive than a Japanese bikes. But, owning a Italian motorcycle you buying an expensively. Sure, you can buy a Japanese bike and feel more secure on the maintenance part but, everybody has an Japanese bike. I learned about my bikes and work on them... as a matter fact, my friend just bought a RSV4 Factory and am doing work on it. Your exhaust and ECU (problem) can be easily fix just buy looking into the for sale adds on the Aprilia AF1 forum... you would expend at most $1k. You always brag about your research, then do some so your Aprilia experience it's better. I have 4 bikes: Aprilia RSV4 13 (street) Ducati Hypermotard SP 18 (street) Aprilia RSV4 16RR Black (track) Honda CBR 600RR 07 (track) And your bet, I have worked or will work on them...

The BMW comes with a 3yr warranty which is pretty much unmatched. Plus I really think with the next gen S1000R and GSXS when they implement the variable valve timing engines into those bikes they will be even better, giving the inline 4's better torque down low where they suffer a little compared to the v twin, or v4. I should be ready to trade in once those are hitting the showroom floors lol.

Not really. Yamaha is the only japanese brand who is even trying to put some fan factor and soul in their bikes, Honda kawasaki and suzuku is still selling you the same old garbage. And i can even argue that suzuki and kawasaki is less reliable than ducati and bmw out of personal experience. Aprilia truly sucks with their electronics so as new 2017 cbr1000rr which had a lot of electronics issues and fails. The only reason why people have bias agaisnt european bikes is simply because europeans are the first who put advanced electronics on the superbikes like s1000rr did back in 2009 of course if you compare a lot of electronics to just a frame and the engine like in older japanese bikes you'll have much less issues. But today everyone is on even field. But yes aprilia is still much less reliable with their electronics but ducatis today are bullet proof.

I have to say that this was you and not the bike. You can’t deal with the finnicky nature of such a small company’s bikes. You should have known what you were buying, therefore you should not complain. You don’t even bother to use the quickshifter. You are the only person I have seen to have the electronic problem. You complain about the exhaust and the price of the full akra exhaust and yet it is around the same price as other full titanium systems. Long story short, you yourself admit that you knew what you were getting and you still complain.

I can understand your lack of trust. Aprilia electronics are known to be problematic and on older models ECUs and Imobilizers aren't available anymore. Immobilizer issues are legendary but you can by pass it so ultimately not as big an issue as it could be. I have a 04 RSV1000R Factory and it is easily the best handling motorcycle I've ever owned. That said if I had to pay someone to work on it I wouldn't have bought it. If you are used to Japanese bikes you have to learn a lot when you start working on an Aprilia. The same thing was true though when I bought a Harley. Completely different platform. 3 lubricants to change for an oil change. Primary chain adjustment. Clutch adjustment. All different. My Aprilia left me stranded. Dead. Crank, no start. It wasn't Aprilia's fault though. Previous owner used a cheap hose clamp that came loose on the fuel filter (which is inside the tank so definitely not a roadside fix) the fuel filter came off bike wouldn't run. Had to remove all the plastic, the tank, fuel pump assembly plate from bottom of tank, then repair was simple. I could have just put the filter back on the hose, put it all back together and it wound have been running again. I didn't want the same thing happening again soI decided to upgrade the fuel hose and especially the clamps. The real delay fixing the bike was finding parts which should have been readily available in America, like crush washers for injector line. 8 different parts stores, dealerships, etc, to find the right ones and they are commonly used. All had the same story, "we're having problems getting all kinds of things these days". Again not Aprilia's fault. I will say this if you want a reliable, well made, fast, decent handling, low maintenance, low operating cost bike, just like with cars, buy Japanese. European bikes and cars handle better, are fast, more performance oriented, but aren't as reliable, require more maintenance, are expensive buy and own, but are wonderful machines to drive/ride. My RSV1000R Factory is definitely more toy than transportation. It's ideal for riding twisties, and taking to the track. Your not going to want to commute with it or go on a trip on it. Stick it in a trailer, go somewhere fun, then go fire a ride. I had a Zx12R before this and the Aprilia has been more headaches but mostly because I was so unfamiliar with them. The Same was true for the Harley for the same reason. Now that I'm familiar with both bikes they aren't headaches anymore. The Aprilia handles far better than the Zx12R, is almost as fast, and a lot more fun to ride. It has the same torque as the Harley in 400lbs package. The Zx12R did about mid 180s the Aprilia low 170s. Not making a bit of practical difference to me. The Zx12R was quicker but that made it difficult to control, almost like a turbo bike. It could get sideways on you in the blink of an eye. The Aprilia is much more controllable. That's my 2 cents.

Great video. I was planning on getting a Tuono, but the more I find out about these bikes, the less likely I will get one. In my province (equivalent to state) there are only two dealerships. And both decided to give up their rights to carry Aprilia. Now there is only one dealship, and the reason the two dealerships told me was because of warranty work. Aprilia would not approve of most repairs candid they did, they would only pay out at 75%. So the dealerships were loosing money on them. Also parts would take forever to come in. And the entire company shuts down for the month of August, so if you need parts you are out of luck. Piagio/vespa/Aprilia are the same company. And ordering parts for my wife’s vespa took forever. 2-3weeks for a water pump gasket. Hate to say it, But being able to only have one bike, it’s probably not going to be an Aprilia. It’s too bad because it’s probably the best super naked out there.
@CycleCruza

Aprilia does not like to pay. Now I understand why I only have one Aprilia dealership around here. No dealership wants to deal with a company that doesn't want to pay for warranty work. However, I will say this Tuono v4 is a sick bike, the V4 is a beast and sounds like a MotoGP bike.

Complains that a small volume Italian company doesn't update their bikes often enough but thinks his Honda CBR1000RR, from the biggest bike manufacturer that didnt get any kind of meaningful update engine and chassis-wise for over a decade is the greatest thing ever. Lol. I wil caveat that owning an Aprilia isnt easy. I own two, a 2003 and 2012 Tuono and Aprilia quality isn't what it used to be. But the engine on the 03 is a Rotax mill and they make good engines. But all the newest superbikes have so much tech in them and so much stress on the engines that reliability will be issues for all of them to one degree or another.

I am so sorry about the experience you had with Aprilia, it is not the Bike experience you having issue with but the Service dept you are having issue with. I lived in CA, there is never any issue with Aprilia service here, they are honoring all the warranty as promised during the sales, i my self owned 3 Aprilias and not one single Aprilias i owned having any issue with service. I understand some Aprilia dealership in other small state are very timid to do their warranty works just because they are worry not being reimbursed by Aprilia. But to me owning Aprilias since 2010 untill today, not one single issue i had with service to all my bikes, the only issue i am running into at the height of pandemic certain parts are coming in very slow from Italy other than that i have no issue at all. I can see you use to your inline 4 Honda, but seriously man comparing Honda and Aprilia dollars per dollars.....? Aprilia give you more bikes for your hard earning dollars than Japanese Bike. @@CycleCruza Your channel would explode with all the Yammie fans out there (myself included) if you pulled the trigger. We all know that 2020 Honda will still be vanilla unfortunately.

Fade, also being Italian, love the looks of Italian exotic cars and bikes, but through past experience the reliability rating is not good. I think it's more like bragging rights. Been there and done that. I would love to purchase this new bike after a few years of R&D as well as owners reviews. Seems like the bike would fit my mission for canyons and certain tracks in SoCal. I own a new 2020GSX-R1000R after owning a few bikes in the past, have to say I was ready for the liter sport bike. Raised the bars and left everything stock. Can't say enough about the bike, very easy to ride and have the electronics aids which helps keep me safer. My level of skill is no where near what the bike is capably of doing. On the track I will progress slowly and hope never to go down at age 69yrs.old. Hope to track in my 70's for as long as I can till I have to hang it up. Never ride the city streets, very dangerous and odd's are not good. I like the odd's in my favor! I like your comment and hope good comments will help others!!!

I've said before, you'd love the Speed Triple RS, torquey and quick enough for the streets and comfortable, throw some arrow cans on the back and you're set.

Lol got my motors and brands mixed. Either way you get my idea. Z900rs only in cruiser form. Yamaha don't really have the platform. But a modern triple in a cruiser would be the shit

if you like the v4 check out the honda interceptor. they dont sell them in the US anymore as of 2015 but you can find ones that have not been sold yet so you can get a warranty on them as a new bike. i got my 2014 with zero miles for 8400 out the door. now it doesnt have big impressive numbers like a supersport but it's a well refined bike. its sport touring bike but a little bit more sporty than touring as far as ergos go.

Your right on par with everything you mentioned , I agree with all of it , we think alike , get rid of it , after a couple of years there very costly , hey I’m full blooded Italian , but there bikes suck when it comes too maintenance, they know this and they don’t give a fvck there just like Harley Davidson , stay Japanese !!

@@CycleCruza that's crazy my buddy just said that I should build one, that it only takes about 1.5 acres. I have like 2.5 but still have neighbor's and think it would hurt resale on house if I ever wanted to sell it someday.

You really can't go wrong with any of the Japanese brands. I had an 05 & 07 GSXR 750 & those bikes were amazing on street & track, never ever had an issue with either one & they were ridden hard. I'm glad you're trying different bikes Cruza, it gives you awesome content, safe riding!
