If city roads also improve at the same pace, then nobody in the world can beat India in terms of Road quality and connectivity. But things take time, so lets wait and watch.
It's a great initiative but I would love to see road infrastructure development in capital cities and adjacent towns as well. Most of these roads are in very bad shape. Especially during monsoon season.
There are some highways being developed but come to Assam, NH6 and NH27, you will cry as the roads are not even paved. A country cannot develop unless all its states are developed. In the US, no matter which state you visit, the roads are so good.

Work done by atal vihari bajypee was commendable, in that Era when vote politics was high,depsite country had little money he focused on quadrilateral highway, connecting all villages to road, if you draw a graph of highway construction in india you will see sharp slope between 2000-2004 , and after changing regime slope went downward, same with case of iit , aiims and iims, between 1947-2002 only one aiims, and in vajypee Era alone 5 aiims and similar with iits, iims. Indian never values a true visionary leader if he only focus on vision of high infrastructure, growth rate, pm modi is also winning because of people to people freebies like ration, money to farmers, cylinders, loans but if he only focused on infrastructure growth he couldn't came back to power again
We actually get 4 lane infrastructure with massive length at the time of Bajpayeeji`s regime. And no practical infrastructure had been seen day light before that. So do not bring the Gandhis in all the places. Modiji`s able leadership boost this to the record high.
What about quality of highways? Newly built mumbai goa highway have such curves which aren't in even african countries. Look at bhoste ghat. How such section even get permission from ministry is beyond imagination. As much loss due to accidents happen in this ghat in that amount this whole section would have been constructed as elevated section.
