Reasons for emergency 1. Nav Nirman movement- Students strike 2. Nationwide railways strike- arrested thousands of employees and drove their families out of their quarters 3. (12th June 1975) Indira Gandhi *election fraud* of bribing and malpractice made Supreme court to ban her from politics for 6 years (25th June 1975)- the electricity to all major newspapers was cut and the political opposition arrested. National emergency declared. *140,000* people had been arrested without trial during the twenty months of Gandhi's Emergency *This is actual Dictatorship* This time is far better than 1975.
