Why INFPs are such excellent people 

INFPs are often described as overly emotional cry babies. But in real life I’ve noticed they are some of the most composed people I know. They can be goofy at times, and sure they are honest about how deeply they feel things, but I’ve never seen an INFP lose emotional control. Also Ren, I’m very glad to see videos dedicated to other types. I know the channel is specifically branded for INFJs but I love the expansion. I will push back a tad in differentiating these two types with their relationships to reality. We may be explaining different phenomenon or having a semantic issue, but I do think infps tend to feel like they don’t fit in, and more often “day dream” and so can feel very alienated from society both as a constant, oppressive force, and a subtle disconnect in the moment when “not paying attention. But with INFJs they often don’t have an issue fitting in. In fact they fit in so often with so many diverse groups, they can lose their core self and *this* is how they feel isolated from reality, as a result of their inauthenticity.

The INFP's I have had the good fortune to meet are incredibly genuine. They do things for people just to do it without any underlying motive of keeping group settings calm and harmonious, like my conflict avoidant a**.

I love my INFP fiancé. He rarely is expressive but he feels everything so deeply and is a more extreme introvert than I. He’s a joy- gentle, in control, not a crier or especially demonstrative most of the time, but when he does open up- it’s magical beautiful or terrifying. He balances me perfectly. I know my mere presence brings him joy and comfort and can trust him absolutely. The still waters run deep and he keeps me grounded. Practical stable and boring to most people, gentle, kind, and very cool and aloof, with outbursts of overwhelming emotional depth, observations and rare smiles, giggling and silly weirdness- it’s fascinating!

I think we handle emotions almost selfishly; we express our feelings in our own way and on our own terms. I don't mind crying in front of other people and I don't really expect sympathy or anything, some people might cringe at that idea (Fe users especially) but I personally think showing emotions is very normal as long as you're not being obnoxiously loud or violent.. :D

They definitely seem like self-contained people. The few I've interacted with have been pretty much like you described. They do have their downsides, too, like disappearing for chunks of time with no explanation, but yes. I agree with your assessment. I'm glad your book is coming along so well! The nice way to say they are solipsistic and self centered. Which I agree is a strength. Wish I had it. Today I have a bad taste in my mouth with INFP's it happens (so I'm more critical of them today then usually), cus yet again they demonstrate the complete lack of consideration for others and only caring for them selves, in moments when it truly matters. Yes they will always do what they think is the right thing, but never forget that they actually don't care about you and will flip their script the moment they see self benefit in something else. I do like hanging out with them a lot, but they can't be relied upon as whatever they feel in this moment dictates their reality. And if they feel like not keeping their word, then that is what they do.

Having opposite set of functions to INFJs makes them very different. You not similarity is having N and Functions at the front. This results in INFP being very much ‘in the world’ and conventional in contrast with INFJ alienation natural tendency to rebel and want to change society. This is reflected in INFJ fiction whereby they tend to suggest individuals change over societal systems. Fi doms being very much about their own subjectivity, I feel they come at life as individuals who seek to determine truths from their own perspectives rather than objectively like INFJs do. At its worst, this can result in eccentricity and lack of coherence in their overall belief systems (Te demon). It can also come across as being quite selfish and self-serving. Keanu Reeves is a great example of a healthy developed INFP imo. He is known as being very personable and generous while not bragging or seeking to boast about this. His moral integrity is amazing. A great role model. It’s ironic and funny that in many INFJ videos on YT, his image is shown but I’m pretty sure he’s an INFP. I do think INFJs can learn something from them though. You can certainly influence the world like Roger Waters is trying now, but there is a lot to be said for leading by example too. I’m not saying Roger isn’t living authentically however. It’s interesting to note how INFP (like ISFP) don’t smile readily like Fe doms or even INFJs do when meeting you. There’s no fakery to them. I do think F doms in general are quite sensitive and can use this as a weapon when angered.

With most functions you can put them on a sort of wheel where for example an Ni is on top, meaning in this case disconnect from the external world, and Se is on the bottom, meaning it's opposite being the most connected to the external world. On both left and right sides you have Ne and Si which are both half connected to the outisde world and half not connected. Si is more directly connected as it's sensing. However, it's disconnected because it's introverted and Ne is connected becuase it's external, but disconnected because it's not fully the real world that they are connected to, but rather the ideas about the real world. You could make such a wheel for most traits. For example, you could say Ne is at the top of novelty orientated and Si is at the bottom of being novelty related. Ne people are often already bored with things even before they happen. Just merely thinking about something that does not exist already quickly creates boredeom and hence high Ne types often do not even apon ideas as the idea is arelady boring before it becomes reality. Si on the other hand is it's polar opposite. Si almost does not appreciate the thing in the current moment untill it has passed. Then lastly there are Ni and Se which are in between those 2 extremes.Ni is intuition and thus novelty related, but at the same time it deals with what's already in the mind rather htan looking outward. Se does look outside for the new things, but since the things already exist in mateiral form, it is interetested in (concrete things) , which make it in a way less novelty related than Ne. Just some ideas that just random Ne ideas that floated around in my head when i was a few mins into the vid

I would agree that INFPs have a great deal of self-possession which is enviable for us INFJs. One of the great benefits of lead Fi. As well, they are maybe the least judgemental types when it comes to dealing with unpleasant/messy/ugly emotions, provided that you are considered to be a friend of theirs. Of course there are some common weaknesses to that type (as with all types). Like all IxxPs they can be passive-aggressive (owing to inferior Extraverted Judging functions) when they are either immature or in crisis. As well, they can be bullish when it comes to compromise in instances where they believe their authenticity to be impugned, and having Ti as their weakest function means that they can be a bit space-cadetish and at times frustratingly hypocritical. But generally, I've found them to be creative, sensitive, funny, and sweet. And being an INF with a completely different set of cognitive functions can often hit a sweet spot of contrast and relatability. Truly one of my favorite types.

I wonder if Fi users see Fe users as weak, fake or shallow? Negative Fe seeks social approval over the truth. The tribes needs above the individual?

The negative side is they can be epically self serving and hypocritical.
