While the title “Fluent in 3 Months” has created a lot of controversy and is thought by many to be simply clickbait, this intensity and goal was actually my learning philosophy long before I ever started posting online, based on seeing real world examples of others who had the pressure and need to learn a language quickly.
There are reasons why I'll never switch to slower approaches when it comes to learning a new language, and in this talk I can give the exact reasons why!
There are certain personality traits, priorities and preferences that make long-term slow learning (for anything but language maintenance) to be incompatible with certain people, and is a major reason why so many people will never get beyond the absolute basics. And then again, there are many types of people for whom this level of intensity would be a waste time.
In this talk I can outline why some people should consider much more intensive bursts of language learning, and what that could look like realistically in their lives.
This talk will be a brief break in what I am currently doing; very intensively attempting to learn Korean to a B2 level in 3 months, which I can also discuss and answer any questions on!

Thank you for this: it was SO helpful to hear from you the "use case" (expats) behind the initial "fluent in 3 months" idea, and to hear you connect it with your own psychology. (I share the need to get things done in limited, intensive bursts.)

Interesting topic. I prefer to learn fairly intensively as well. I watched the video of the final result of the Korean project mentioned here (3 months of studying, followed by 5 months of practice in Korea). I'd evaluate his level to be between TOPIK level 1 and 2 [reasoning: narrow use of grammar and vocab; number of mistakes; misunderstanding simple questions]. I'd say he got through something equivalent to 연세 한국어 1 (out of 6 levels), and figuratively skimmed through level 2, but is a ways from mastery in level 2 (approx. A2).
