Nah fr, I shattered my nail,, my neighbor got his pinky stuck on the rim and had to get it stitched… man everyone knows once u start dunking ur done shooting that game
@@marcusmccloud8394it will fuck you up later in life. Not a good idea to become a leaper unless you’re making money on it and can afford those surgeries when you’re older
Lol! There are a lotta players out there jump higher than some people actually assume. Booker , Donovan, Kyrie, Dorozan…. List goes on! When they are 6’4” plus…. some make it look effortless! We had a guy in my hometown could dunk 2 basketballs 🏀 (large hands) … about 6’3-6’5”
I'm a white guy who started dunking at 14. My coaches would encourage me to do crazy dunks to attract adults who buy tickets. After 5 years of dunking almost daily I destroyed my knees from all the landings as I was only 5ft 11in when I began. I'm 6ft 4in now, 39 years old and have already had knee surgeries. I can't even jump anymore. My advice to kids who can dunk is save it for special occasions. If you practice dunks everyday, especially trick dunks, your forearms and knees can be injured.
I agree. I played up to college and liked to jump and dunk. I also have knee issues due in part to lots of jumping. If I had to do it over, I'd spend more time on the ground. There are more years to live after basketball. Having jacked-up knees after you're done playing isn't worth it.
i can dunk on 9’9”, only touch rim w/ 3 fingers on 10’ Update 10/13/22: I’ve dunked on 9’10.5 and I can just about flush it on 10 but I need a lob. I’m also 5’10”
It prolly cos of all the adrenaline they get and plus with the crowd going crazy and shi. They only feel it like after the game or few minutes after dunking
@@Sapreme well kicking young banana trees is a bit different to fucking metal, don't you think? It hurts for sure, but it isn't actually tough enough to dent or fracture your shin. Metal is. Most of muay thai shin conditioning is just years of kicking thai pads and heavy bags really hard and sparring without shinguards. You wanna make microfractures that heal back with a denser mineral content, which makes your bones stronger. Hitting something that has no give like metal or solid wood focuses all the force on one area, which will most of the time just injure you instead of slowly building you to be tougher.
Yeah, I used to "go dunking" on a nerf hoop alot when I was young (ca 14 until 18). Now I'm 45 and still have calluses on my hands from hanging on the rim.
Yup, I used to have multiple giant callouses on every finger from the rim and my wrists were always so bruised and beat up from smashing it against the rim while trying to punch it through. Good times.
“For nba players” how about any one who can dunk no matter the size of the hoop. It’s going to hurt regardless Edit: I’ve never reached so many likes before, I appreciate both sides of the argument and may every one have a great day
When I was a bit younger my friend lowered his basketball hoop to the lowest height and when we went for dunks our hands hurt a lot, I never thought much of it though because I thought it was just because we were younger and less physical and strong
yea that's my experience I actually glide over the top of the rim and spike the ball down into the bucket and make no contact, it's good to know other people have the same issues
@@Christopheofficial1854 Rose ain't had to rape his girl wit his homies but he did that anyway so I think talmbout his ankles or whatever is minor compared to that
I remember playing while it was kinda cold outside. I went up for a dunk and got fouled. My fingers hit the rim and then got tangled in the net while i was coming down. That pain make you not want to dunk again
Yea same lol I got to where I would try just throwing it into the rim instead of Dunking but I would miss so I had to slam it where it hurt my wrist in order for me to make it. And for me it's worth hurting yourself than it is getting embarrassed by missing a dunk lmao
Yeah it always hurts when i tomahawk dunk on my rim that i definitely didn’t lower to 8ft. All these elite athletes and me really gotta have some toughness. 💪🏽
Once I learned to dunk, I started wondering how NBA players did it all the time. And then I started realizing that they almost never dunk hard. At least, not on the actual rim.
In highschool ppl thought i was cutting myself because of the bruises on my right forearm from dunking...i would always laugh and tell them that makes no sense because im right handed lol.....All the cuts are on the left arm
I remember I found this hoop that could adjust and it was the greatest thing ever. I think I was 11 and I was dunking on 7’5 and my hands started to bleed😭
I VERY BRIEFLY, had worked my way up to the point I was able to dunk. And thought I was doing it wrong because of this. Literally never thought of it again until this.. so.. cool thanks
We all know this.. we used to lower the rim and dunk on each other. After the game I’d have bruises on my wrists and my fingers would swell up sometimes. Even though it hurts, it still feels good and a good hard dunk can change the momentum of a game.
