Hard to compare a barrel shaped handle (some Puukkos) with a broom stick handle. If I remember correctly and I had a few of the LTs, the scandi comes with a buffed microbevel and not a „true“ or „zero“ scandi. I think LT is also communicating that on their website. But the scandis are at least better to use compared to their flat and sabre grinds (too thick behind the cutting edge). IMHO

Finally! LTWK in DBK!! But you could have had the experience of magnacut version Genesis if you decided to review the Genesis few months earlier. It would be fascinating while you are so impressed with PSB-27. Also, the design of the Genesis very neutral, less combatty, less stylish curves.

No way to hold down a bearing block with your foot. Sawdust must accumulate on the hearth/catch board and ignited by friction into an ember. Hard to do that upside down because it would fall, scatter and give you a sad.

Lt. Wright, are what Bark River should be. Bark River opted to substantially lower their quality & churn out as many blades as possible. LT keeps very high quality / fit & finish standards. Hence why a lot of their models are a bit of a pain to get hold of. Even their leather sheaths are VASTLY better than Bark River. I stopped buying from BR after receiving like 5 blades that were absolutely garbage. Uneven grinds, uneven handle scales that were not even lined up with the tang. Edge issues (rolls & micro chipping) from them frying the edge dry grinding. Good luck getting any issues resolved as well. They have had 4 of my knives for over 2 YEARS now. Brand new knives i returned to get fixed. They have completely stopped replying to my emails. Absolute garbage company. Lt. Wright is completely different. Never had a single issue with them. Other than availability.

I have 7 of their knives, and every one is outstanding! I prefer the GNS or the Outback over the Genesis, but they're all good. The thing you didn't show was how crazy sharp the spines are. They're famous for that. You can scrape fluff and shower sparks all day long with any of their knives. The GNS is a woodlore style knife you should check out if that's what you like

You may want to contact them ahead of time. They don’t have a retail store there per se. And most of the knives that they make are going to dealers or customer orders via their website. But they are incredibly nice and very accommodating. If they had some knives in stock (that weren’t already spoken for), they might be open to selling them.

As someone who was born and raised here it's sad to see how far Steubenville has fallen. She would have had a totally different and better experience here in the 80's or 90's. Lack of stability and not for longterm use in my opinion. Barrel shaped is more comfortable in all regards. But that is of course my experience.

The LT Wright Genesis is based off of a Kephart knife. I have 2 myself. I collect LTW knives. My favorite knife I have is the GNS in 3V. They do drops at DLT Trading and other dealers with different steels and handle options. Glad you guys finally tried one out.

Since I bought bushcraft knives from LT, I sold every other knives that I had from Brisa, Joker, Fallkniven, I just sold them all, because I enjoyed none of them like my Genesis, GNS (sabre) and Illuminous 5. If you like LT Wright and CPM3-V, try to get Illuminous 5, that is a real beast. Only the sheath fits really loose on the 5 and you will have to mod it.

Everything from LT is spectacular. The Forrest Trail is my favorite blade from them. I honestly wish you hadn't done a video on them because they're hard enough to get hold of.

@chrisp1598 Indeed, I have been trying to get hold of multiple models for a few years now. Wanted the Gary Wines bushcrafter, bushcraft hunter, another scandi 3V forrest trail, and others. Their staple models like this & the GNS are usually available (usually in 01 or A2), but I already have them. I would buy another GNS if it were a convex in 3v, but it's finding them in stock. That plus importing any knife to the UK is a fkn nightmare. A few US retailers will ship knives as "camping tools," & they get through without issue. Others will only put "KNIFE" & custome stop it even if it's perfectly legal to buy, import, and own. Most annoying, especially when it's worth a few hundred.

Both the garywines models are now discontinued but they have brought back the extra large workhorse which is a similar pattern blade. TKC had some in stock as of a couple days ago. You could try putting a note in the order comments line for them to list it as camping supplies.

Nah, those sheathes are garbage. I always have to get a custom aftermarket sheath. There’s a reason jres are so cheap at $30 or less.

I definitely wouldnt say garbage. They are well made, highly functional sheaths. You can get fancier and nicer sheaths…but JRE makes a nice sheath

@@chrisp1598 I disagree. They aren’t saddle stitched. They’re machine stitched. One cut thread and the whole sheath comes apart. The leather is second hand bulk bought pre dyed cow hide that isn’t the best quality. It’s always dry and doesn’t do well against any moisture. They may look ok and do the job. But they definitely aren’t functional as a leather sheath. Too many flaws. No different than the cheap sheathes badger leather produces these days for the same knife makers.

I have a JRE sheath that I carried everyday for 2 1/2 years while working as a carpenter. Over that 2 1/2 years, I coated it a couple times with mink oil. The leather has a bit of character from all the use. But the sheath still looks pretty nice and still works flawlessly. I still carry a fixed blade everyday. And more often than not it’s in a JRE sheath. I have never had an issue with any of the sheaths.

Not saying that they are the best sheaths out there. But to me a sheaths that holds a knife well, looks good, and should stand up to 5-10 years of hard daily use is a decent sheath.

This is great. I even emailed you guys and offered to give you my own just so you would see it. But you finally got one! I reviewed this knife on my channel and I got a lot of black from people who haven't experienced it before. I called it a game changer. And a lot of people disagreed with that saying that there's a bunch of other knives to do the same thing but honestly there's no other night that does everything as well as it does.

They make one with a more woodlore type handle. They call it the GNS. They also make tons of other knivfe pattern and use a multitude of steels. AEBL, O1, A2, 3V, Magnacut and many others as well.

LT is one of the best in the business. Made by hand for a great price. Several of their knifes have been carried on Alone by contestant who did extremely well, including one winner. They’re made to be users and clearly they stand up to whatever you can throw at them.

It’s about time !!! I have two LT wright Genesis one magna cut, and One in CPM 3V you can’t go wrong, specially with the broomstick handle. And the fire steel scraping abilities is amazing. It’s about time Dutch Bushcraft boys. I won’t lie. Mine has some microchips in the beginning, but once I reground them , they’re pretty much awesome.

LT Wright knives, definitely one of the best in the business. Also am a huge fan boy and have quite a few, with different steels from O1 to Magnacut, but not PSB-27. Have never been disappointed or let down by the quality and workmanship. P.S. Try the GNS if you want better ergonomics, but the broom handle I find is no issue at all. Thanks for another great video, I always look forward to Fridays. 🙂

LT Wright makes great knives; I have several different models.They may not be designs some people care for, but the knives are World Class in quality. I have no idea what that steel is; but I have one of the first "One Foot in the Wild" Genesis knives, in O1. After almost 10 years, it's still a great knife; even though my hand finds a Skookum the best fit for woodcraft. I like the performance of that PSB-27. Great vid guys!!!

Ive been waiting so long for you guys to review an LT!! They are my favorite production knives. And trust me, if you have any issues, they will honor their warranty and have the knife back to you quickly. Unlike a certain other brand……. They make knives in 3v, A2, O1, AEBL, and Magnacut as well. I have a ton of their knives, and every single one came flawless from the factory

"A hole that needed to be filled.." ? What is that supposed to mean?? The LT Wright Genesis is on the market for years now! After LT decided to split away from Blind Horse Knives. I ordered one almost after it was created for me here in Australia and it served me well ever since. It is simply brilliant and reliable even in Redgum.

It is so strange that it needed you this long to review a LT Wright. If you want a Woodlore handle from them on a Kephart blade check their Scaaty Crafter model. Thicker spine, though and it is probably the rarest knife made by them. Also, DLT had their own version of Genesis made specifically for them with a different handle. LT Wright GNS model is their excellent interpretation of a Woodlore knife.

I was a little Puzzled when you mentioned that this LT wright knife lacks ergonomics like Puukko knives. Its not lacking ergonomics, it has a ergonomic handle. Puukko knives have ergonomic handles you can carve with them a whole day without hurting youre hands. What is not ergonomic in this LT knife?

Well done gentlemen, also been waiting a long time for the LT review. I really enjoy LT’s and they are amazing knives but I agree with you that they’re harder to find than a quality Australian breakdancer! The European price markup is also crazy but if I criticize foreign policy I might offend someone and start an international incident. One criticism though I didn’t see the spine sharpness test that LT’s are so known for but oh well. I’ve had the Genesis in a2,3V and magnacut but have never heard of them in that steel which is weird!

I bought the last Lt wright knife in Europe last year from Lamnia 😂. It was a GNS in o1. Is crazy because I could not find any other Lt wright model since then in Europe. Why is that?

It needs a sharpening choil! Why? That's a new knive, but has a slight curve already in the spot where it's would have a choil. Hate it when that happens

IMHO it's good, but overrated for all the hype and the price. For less than a third you can get a Joker Bushlord, which will deliver the same performance and is also very well crafted from fine very fine materials.

The broom handle of the Genesis and its variants are definitely my personal favorite, simply because its comfortable and functional in any grip position. Don't particularly care for knives that try to tell me how to hold them. I'm especially fond of LT's mountain finish.

LT are great people and company but I feel like their falling behind on what heat treat can do, they do run the stuff softer than I prefer and haven't really pushed it to what most custom knife makers are doing these days, I know the fan boys hate hearing this but thats a fact, and guys where is the cru wear, a cru Genesis with a proper 63-64 heat treat would smoke shit

I've got that knife in A2 steel. It's a great performer. About the handle; Yeah, it's kind of plain, but has good grip, and is attached so well that it will never become loose, even under real abuse.

My biggest problem with LT Wright knives is that I only have one of them. They're built right and designed for hard use, but sadly often out of stock because a lot of other people like them too.

Guys you have to test out the Extrema ratio fulcrum in full-size. For a bloody bajonett like knive it performes insanely well

I’ve used an LT Wright for years and I love them. They are a great maker as well and are always willing to help. The looks to me are outstanding and simple. I like having a simple tool that looks elegant in the woods and looks like something from an older generation.

i think the bark river bravo crusader can be the knife that decrown the modern bowie once and for all, has the convex grind, has the choil for control. basically same weight. has a better sheath with a firesteel holder. comes with beter steel and is about 30% cheaper
