I work for Metro North I started a a trackperson and I am now a boom truck operator there is always room for advancement you basically write your own check I mean this literally I want to correct the young brother the city MTA is 25 years of service 50 years old so if you start at 20 years old you have to wait until you are 50 to retire I work for the federal state MTA the years of service is 30 years and 55 age so if you get in at 20 do 30 years you have to wait until 55 years of age to retire or take the 20% hit on your retirement

I work for MTA, and wut I like about it is theres no butt kissing, every1 is treated fair and equal and u can always move up if u have the education and experience. Pay is not as great as competitors but the benefits is where its at. MTA is one of the last few that still offers a pension plan on retirement for all their employees which is a huge plus. Competitors wants you working 40+ yrs for them, with MTA, u do ur 25 yrs and u get ur full pension, and if u want to increase ur pension just work another 5 yrs. Also, the job is extremely easy, most of the time ur not doing anything. Job security is phenomenal

That's great. Can you swim? Can you dive? If so try out for underwater welding. This is a job that picks its workers not the other way around. If you do decide to try out and the job picks you then you're set and good luxk.

Retirement is 25 years of service AND age 55 so if you think you're going to Retire at 50 no matter what age you start not even close to being correct...
@saiyanbrother5659
@saiyanbrother5659 2 года назад
Really? So if ur accepted at 20 yrs old u cant retire at 50?
@istaycatchingfish2552
@istaycatchingfish2552 2 года назад
@@saiyanbrother5659 If you start at 20 years old to get the full retirement you gotta do 35 years technically you can retire after 10 years you're vested but you get a fraction of your pension...
@Saladon89
@Saladon89 Год назад
@@saiyanbrother5659 Yea reitrement is 25 yrs of service and u have to be 55 yrs old. But thats good, because the more yrs u do the higher pension u get. I think its 5-10% more for every 5 yrs i believe. 55 yrs old is still young, u can still do alot of things. And a lot of ppl still dont retire because they love it especially when ur a senior.

Hey , bro I’m in jersey and to commute to the city I need at least 80mins to 120mins to get to city , is it still worth taking the mta job ?
@nyelectriciantalk
@nyelectriciantalk 2 года назад
If you are commuting from NJ, it’s not worth coming into Transit unless you come into Electrical Helper and get promoted or start as Maintainer which is $32+ an hours. It depends on your situation right now, what job you have now? What pay you have? And the benefits you have vs Transit
@grandcanyon2
@grandcanyon2 2 года назад
@@nyelectriciantalk funny enough im going through the process of electrical helper, the starting i think is 23.40 but after two years you can take the test for maintainer and make 41 a hour if your signal or in electronics equipment maintainer. I advise anyone to go into signals or equipment maintainer. Lightining is the worse to be in skill, wise as if you leave the mta you will be less prepared.
@nyelectriciantalk
@nyelectriciantalk 2 года назад
@@grandcanyon2 you can be maintainer after 1 yr as helper. Just don’t be too excited and just be quiet. Also if you recently took the test you’ll be probably waiting 2-3 hrs for hire because of Covid

Here is what seems to REALLY be happening with the MTA train system because this kid could hardly talk. The MTA is a very difficult job to have for two reasons. 1st, it seems that MTA track workers rarely do anything. They just stand around for hours wherever they are milking the tax payers money that they get from the governor of the state who has no one supervising what they do. They supervise themselves. So, in a shift, the workers might work one hour out of eight hours. The hardest part of the MTA is looking like you are busy by walking back and forth. The 2nd, hard part is standing on your feet for most of the shift. The MTA is currently again begging the governor for money. Even though they get billions of dollars a year. Imagine any other business where they are supposed to be making a profit. But, instead it is always running out of money even though millions of people use the trains in New York where millions of tourists and natives use it daily. That shows how the massive corruption may be infiltrating that organization which uses it's union to milk the tax payers money away from other things like homelessness and tax breaks. If you don't believe me here is a legit news clip from ABC news exposing them...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zK3VWSufZMA.html&pp=ygUkbXRhIHRyYWNrIHdvcmtlcnMgbm90IGRvaW5nIGFueSB3b3Jr

I’m a track worker and it’s not just standing there we have safety issues that need to be addressed before we start working on the tracks, we have to repair and replace things can’t do that if the system dents know where we are or what we working on, a lot of track workers have died on them tracks
