I think too many people are jumping to the field, experience developer, statistics, student of post grad in other field, business executive etc... and the entry barrier is becoming higher and higher since there are two many people entering the market. The uni keep pushing and since media is not stop skewing our opinions on the data evolution. The career path into solving problems in a particular domain is not clears and the student is left alone after graduated with skills that everybody else have.

Hey, thanks for your opinion. Its similar to what I said in my video that the supply is increasing, so it really is an employers market at the moment.

Don't worry about getting a job, maybe the market is not growing and there are more people applying for this jobs, On the other hand, if you are passionate about Data Analysis, pursue it. Data Analysis is a complex field and human will remain essential for interpreting that data.

I agree, I dont think anyone should go into a profession like data and tech only because it pays well. There has to be an element of enjoyment as it requires constant up-skilling and learning.

Most companies don't understand how to best leverage data, it's not understood well and you need so much infra and organisational help to get things right!

Agreed, its still a new field and area that companies are still trying to get right.

Egor, thank you for sparking this important discussion, but your arguments seem to be biased. It’s crucial for us to consider all angles and understand the diverse factors influencing job markets worldwide. While it’s true that the job market for data scientists has become more competitive, the situation in England might be uniquely challenging due to specific economic and political factors. Since the United Kingdom left the European Union, there have been notable economic repercussions. The post-Brexit landscape has introduced uncertainties and complexities, affecting various sectors, including tech and data science. Companies in England are navigating new trade regulations, supply chain disruptions, and shifts in market access, all of which can influence hiring practices. The economic slowdown in the UK has been more pronounced compared to some other regions. This slowdown impacts investment in new projects and the expansion of teams, including those focused on data science. Brexit has also affected the mobility of skilled workers. With stricter immigration controls, the influx of talent from other European countries has decreased. This restriction on the talent pool can create an environment where companies are more cautious about hiring, fearing skill shortages or increased costs in recruiting internationally. Businesses thrive on stability and predictability. The ongoing uncertainty surrounding trade agreements and regulatory changes can make companies hesitant to commit to long-term investments, including hiring full-time data scientists. They might prefer to opt for short-term contracts or freelancers, leading to a perception of a tougher job market. It's crucial to compare the situation in England with other regions. For instance, in the United States and parts of Asia, the demand for data scientists remains robust due to ongoing investments in technology and innovation. Countries with more stable economic conditions and proactive tech policies might present a more favorable job market for data scientists. In summary, while your observations about the job market for data scientists might be accurate for England, it's essential to consider the broader global context. The economic challenges post-Brexit are unique and might not reflect the overall global demand for data science professionals. This regional bias could be influencing your perception, making it seem like the job market is universally challenging, whereas, in reality, it varies significantly by region.

the field is super saturated, you have to compete against thousands around the world that can be way better at your skills, passing lots of code reviews and tests, then ask for a price not to pricy and you need to be updated every day in the new thing that replaced what you knew yesterday... is exhausting, dont go for it

Most of the ML/DS stuff are getting abstracted. In the near future, the meat and bone of any data analysis will be the EDA, the rest of the pipeline will be pretty much automated end to end. EDA requires Subject Matter Expertise (SME) .... and only few SME(s) are needed for a given company. This is no different than what happened / is happening in Accounting, Agriculture, Automotive, Engineering ... etc, where AI, Automation, preconfigured Tools are brining in efficiency at cost of less needed labor. Younger generations should shoot for skills that will be in demand (as best as you can tell) 10 and 15 years from now. I still remember days when drafters were getting laid off by the dozens once CAD took over. Now put AI on top of advanced CAD/CAM/CAE .... got the picture?
