I'm 70 in a few months, have never been married, and have no kids. Over the years, I've had a number of relationships and have been with the same woman for 24 years. Relationships are work. They are not "if it happens, it happens".

For me it's very interesting because I was in heroin addict for 20 years have been off for over a year and a half almost 2 years now and haven't been in a relationship in almost three and a half years because I was really busy working on myself and now things are very interesting. I was just talking with a lady at the grocery store really nice attractive who asked for my number actually. I think what I'm really dealing with is even though I'm living in a good place which I can afford and have a part-time job right now but no degree or serious professional things like being in the trades or anything good like that so I feel so not worthy compared to a lot of my contemporaries who didn't use drugs and good for them who have a lot more in life monetarily and I live in a really expensive part of the nation. One of the hard parts for me has been the sex drive coming back in full force to say the least even worse than being a young kid after using drugs for so long. Thankfully I've had many relationships with women and have definitely sowed my wild oats to say the least previously so at least I don't have that issue. Very much appreciate Mike's answer and being honest and with you being honest that is becoming very rare in society. God bless you 🙏❤
Mike is a very smart man and also respectable, honest, sensible, etc, however, he will be lonely at some point. We're not meant to traverse this life alone. Family and friends are critically important, but they aren't a partner in life. Pursue MGTOW at your own risk.

I'm thinking these are the married couples who have the perfect lives and the perfect marriages and like to look down on people who are not married. They are stuck in that moment of time where a man was seen as a "loser" if he was not married and/or a parent by the time he was 30. This is especially if the man was working a "lowly" trade that required digging holes or another such job instead the "glamourous, high-powered" world of corporate business, or even something that really makes a man like a factory or engineering company. It's not just women who are continually subjected to friends and family asking "When are you going to get married? When are you going to have children?" And nothing that singleton says will ever convince them: "Oh, you're just scared, you're going to be a great father." They should take a look at the men who stay late at work every night just to avoid their children, and when they do spend time with them, it's violent.
He pushes conservative values, one of the strongest being marriage. He sure seemed to hold his wrist in a limp manner as he gave no real kind of answer. It's obvious why he isn't married. I saw his main ex. She's very "pixie" like, kind of like a fairy. Maybe he's looking for the right fairy?

As a never-been-married 53 year old, I’ve had the same philosophy. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, so be it. But I don’t go out looking to get married, or in a relationship. I’ve also remained friendly with my exes, and close friends with one of them who is now married with two children whom I absolutely adore.

I'm not married and people ask this all the time. They think something is wrong with you or you are scared of the thing or gay. I have relationships when I wanted and didn't when I didn't.
I grew up in a Leave It To Beaver Family Lifestyle I did not know anybody that got divorced among my my friends parents. Married my first girlfriend had two perfect boys. I can't imagine anything different.

I’m a Christian and we were put on this earth to first have a relationship with God , next to find a mate, fall in love and procreate. How do you think God intended to replenish the earth? If you are a good person which I believe he is, there is a lot to be said for a relationship and volumes to be said about having children. I’ve been married 56 years. It has been the best part of my life and the best decision I ever made, after accepting Jesus as my Savior. Thirdly, my children are a gift from God and I won’t even talk about what grandchildren bring to my life. You can have a career, friends, nice things - nothing takes the place of a committed relationship and family. Still to each, his own.
What you forget to take into consideration is that you would not be here only for a relationship. Business would not be able to be done if there were no people.
Marriage & kids is a huge & permanent responsibility. There are emotional & spiritual expectations. If one is not ready to be a good husband or dad, then don't put yourself in that role as it will be harmful for everyone; the guilt, the manipulations, the disappointments & addictions that could develop... Mike is a realist & knows this. Oprah has the same philosophy.
Marriage is a bad deal for men. If you want to get married, at least take the time to go down to the divorce and family courts, and see with your own eyes what will happen when your marriage goes south!
Marriage is wonderful, i am in one but American people just make marriage seem very scary. If one couple is rich, the other partner get divorce to get other person pay all the money and make them broke and they make the kids to be against the other partner paying them the money. It's not supposed to be like that, if it doesn't work then allow the other to go in peace. In America it makes it seems like money is the reason they marry for the most part.
My daughter is 50, divorced for years and never re- married. She would have made a wonderful mother. She has made a great career but her life is all about her and what makes her happy. She isn’t selfish but she definitely comes first in her mind. I can easily see that not having someone to love and share life with makes her sad at times.
every man i have counseled "to not force himself into a marriage"; has failed (including myself with 26yrs of living, an adulterous hell). in approach to my second marriage "i did not seek to marry"...nor runaround like a whore hound; but waited and watched and found an "exquisite pearl" whom i married 28yrs. ago...and "still firing on all cylinders"...all these years later! Mike Rowe is a very pragmatic guy and he's really good at cutting through the BS. He knows a bad deal when he sees one, and he can see marriage is a terrible deal for a man. No traditional wife, no traditional values, high divorce rates, alimony, child support. Its a State run transfer of wealth from the higher income earner to the lower income earner, in most cases this is husband to wife....
I’ve enjoyed him for decades, but it’s sad that he lacks the spiritual awareness of the importance of the Sacrament of Marriage in contrast to living in sin, fornication. Saying another prayer for his conversion and that of his girlfriend.
His voice is mid grade, baritone rasp. I used to like to watch him get soused and sweaty faced drinking wine on "Evening Magazine" in SF. He sort of had that slippery, slimy look. Basically, I'm just jealous because I couldn't wrangle my parents a national TV commercial like he did. However, I put him right up there with other nauseating, TV over-exposures like Dog The Bounty hunter, Matt Crouch, owner of TBN, Paul Teutul of Orange County Choppers, Danny Koker of Counting Cars, Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars and The Ligina brothers of The Oak Island Fiascos.
