MRBEAST LAWSUIT
Famous RU-vidr MrBeast is back in the headlines today as a lawsuit has been filed against him and Amazon. MrBeast is an online megastar known for his mega challenges that come with mega prizes. But now, MrBeast also has a mega lawsuit on his hands. You see, MrBeast recently teamed up with Amazon to produce a TV show called "Beast Games". It's been teased as the biggest game show in the world, with a cash prize of 5 million US dollars. But now, there are some allegations about what went down on the set. In a lawsuit filed by five anonymous contestants from the show, they're alleging they were lied to about their odds of winning the prize, weren't paid properly, that their breaks for eating and resting weren't up to scratch and that working conditions were unsafe and toxic. A spokesperson for MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, said the RU-vidr had no comment on the new lawsuit. So we'll have to wait and see how this all unfolds.
TASMANIA STADIUM
The plans for Hobart's new AFL stadium have been revealed. The stadium will be able to seat 23,000 people and 31,500 for major concerts and events. But it looks like it will cost more than originally expected, 60 million dollars more, and some politicians aren't too happy about it. But others are hoping it will all be built by 2029, so the new Tasmanian Devils Footy Team can hit the ground running.
TUPPERWARE
Chances are you've probably heard of the brand Tupperware, you might even have some in your kitchen cupboard at home. But now the company has found itself in a bit of financial trouble. Believe it or not there was a time when an airtight container was revolutionary. In fact, Tupperware was the first brand to create one way back in 1947. Up until then, food storage was mainly limited to glass jars or ceramic containers and a lot of people couldn't work out how Tupperware actually worked. So salespeople, who were mostly women, were recruited to go out into people's homes and host Tupperware parties where they could demonstrate how the containers worked and sell products. But now, it looks like the party might be over for good. Tupperware has just filed for bankruptcy, which basically means it doesn't have enough money to keep going. The company says the cost of doing business has massively increased in recent years. There's also a lot more competition on the market these days and there's been a push to move away from plastic and towards more environmentally friendly food storage that doesn't use plastic. So we'll have to wait and see if Tupperware will be saved or if this lid is closed for good.
HOT AIR BALLOON CHAMPIONSHIP
Look up into the sky. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a hot air balloon or rather many hot air balloons. Yep, this is the 67th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett, an annual long distance air balloon race in Europe where balloonists see how far they can travel across the continent. This year the race started in Germany and this year's winner finished up in Portugal after travelling 2,111 kilometres.
PARTIAL LUNAR ECLIPSE
If you live in the Americas, Africa or Europe and looked up into the sky last night, you would have been treated to a supermoon and a partial lunar eclipse. That's when the Earth passes between the sun and moon casting a shadow that darkens the moon's surface.
RAILWAY ROBOT
If you look up Railway Repairer, you probably wouldn't expect to see a transformer-like robot. Showcased earlier this year at Japan Robot Week, the Giant humanoid robot has now been rolled out in Tokyo to perform railway maintenance tasks that can be a bit more risky for Humans.
