Why is removing a dam important for a river’s healing? 

There are few places better suited for both wind and solar power than northern California, and there are few places where river restoration can have such a significant benefit to the environment. The removal of dams will open up hundreds of miles of spawning areas to salmon, vastly improve water quality, and bring ecological benefits from the headwaters all the way into the Pacific Ocean. There is also stream restoration that will restore beaver habitats, increase groundwater supplies, and bring back a multitude of species to the lands. This restoration project may be one of the most consequential actions of my long lifetime. I say "Thank you!" to every tribal member and to everyone else involved in the epic struggle to free the river.

This person could care less if everything downstream was wiped out by flooding. I hope this is just a test to see what happens now.
