I purchased a new 2016 White F150 Platinum and received a couple of great incentives, 0 APR, 0 down and 60 months. I have no problems or regrets with buying this awesome truck, absolutely no problems over the years, Rolling right along @ 29,305 miles
Agree, the LARIAT trim combined with V6 Twin Turbo and 10 speed transmission is a perfect truck for towing and cruising cross country. Joe your reviews are the best, keep up the good work.
This review was what was missing to decide to get f150 lariat going to get mine Saturday..very excited...thank you for this great job you just killed with very detailed and pro review I saw things I didn't when I went to capital Ford here in my city... definitely I'm 100% sure about my decision..thank you
My favorite option on my Platinum is the power side steps... and the power of the 3.5 EcoBoost is unbelievable....it pulls the crap out of a loaded trailer.
Rick Lanier these are great trucks, but not a big fan of the EB. They sure run HOT, even when not pulling. Otherwise, I loved my 2016 F150 wither the 3.5l in it.
Excellent review of a fantastic truck! I'm 63 years old and it's a struggle for me to get in and out of a truck bed and the tailgate step with the handle would be great to have!
I'm 62 and can get in and out of my Denali with the bumper step before any body can get the Ford setup ready. They don't tell you this is useless if you have a trailer on. Paid 63K for my 16 Denali 2500 duramax, the price of these 1/2 tons blows my mind.
Depending where you live if you get one off a dealers lot you can easily get 5k off and some places you can get up to $8,500 off sticker plus incentives
Joel I love the Chrome detail I love that Ford still believes in Chrome I'm old school and I love Chrome and that Larry it looks pretty freaking Sharp and specially the two tone
I love it my F150 center console can feed a family of 10 🤣😂😅, that should be in a commercial THE F150 the only center console Grandma trust to put her Thanksgiving Day turkey in 👍
Very nice review you did..I've been through a lot of truck reviews but only this one convinced me to buy right this time a lariat☺..Very convincing..I appreciate your passion on cars and trucks..keep it up men..
I'd never seen the little pull-out step ahead of the rear wheel, very cool ! Apparently 15 turkeys unsubscribed during that center console storage sequence - something to do with November 22...... touchy old birds !
Excellent job on the review man. I agree with you on the seats they should have splashed some brown in the center of those seats but all in all it's a really great truck overall.
That truck is a "supercrew". The "supercab" has smaller rear seat room along with the suicide doors (open backwards). The terminology is confusing and varies between different brands and even amongst different Ford dealers.
Thank you so much for sharing that info! I totally tripped over my thoughts on that. It is funny how there are so many different names for the same thing! LOL
I didn't mention but on the F150 the "supercab" because of its smaller rear passenger area provides and extra foot of bed length in the standard wheelbase version. It is also lighter (=more payload) and less expensive than a "supercrew."
Love the body crease's of the Ford how it goes into the hood it's subtle on the 97 early mid 2000 but def beats the squinted eyes of the Chevy and Dodge fenders by a long shot
Fyi the most that truck is rated to tow is 12,700 assuming it has the max tow option (per the towing guide). 13,200 towing is the best in class number for 2 wheel drive and a longer wheelbase. Still a respectable number.
One thing with the back step that isn't quite genius. That grab handle should be either interchangeable or on both sides equally. My left shoulder is 'shot' not really allowing me to reach up above my head and pull upwards (even after surgery). I'd bet I'm not the only one with this issue. The steps on the GM's are genius.
I have a continental but I enjoy the f-150 more, I am also planning on customizing it, I use 3DTuning, now you see there was update which helped a lot. But the problem is that I need to order it from outside since these things aren’t available in my country, the cost may cost around 13k$ which means 50k dirhams in my country
Have always been a V8 guy. Thought back and almost every vehicle I've had, had a V8.(ex motorcycles) Had a couple of AMC, CJ jeeps and they had a V8 or we swapped one in. Now, Ford has the 5.0 and that is an excellent engine. However, I went for the 3.5. Miss the V8 music but that 470 #s of torque. Not kidding when I say, "this thing pulls like the old big blocks". I think the F150 over all, is a very good quality product. Also think that GM, Ram, Toyota make a good product. Decide what you want and can afford, and go get it.
Good video Joe. Joe, the F150 Limited is the top trim level not Platinum. And the dip in the front driver and passenger doors is referred to as the door cavity. Just saying. Keep up the good work.
just picked up f150 with the 5 l coyote engine and love it; not sure why all the most reviews on YT and even dealer sales people just want to hype up the ecoboost and rarely talk about the v8; it is a great engine and performance about the same as 3.5. Very under rated engine in my opinion.
I just posted on the f150 forum the pictures of the broken camshafts in the 3.5 ecoboost engines. Apparently they have a batch of bad Canada made camshaft's. I'm not taking a chance on getting that engine.
friend just bought a 2.7 eco boost f150 and had to go rent a truck to pull his 8000# trailer home from camp. true story . two weeks ago. If i'm lying , i'm dying.
FX4 does not mean it has "All wheel drive". Sorry but that's just not accurate. It means it has a slightly stiffer suspension and skid plates to protect the underside from rocks etc. It also means it has certain trim options and badging. All wheel drive is on the Explorer and other SUV's. This has 4WD. I have a 2014 Supercrew FX4 and quite frankly, the interiors have not changed much. A slight tweek here or there but in actuality....not much to justify the change. Plus...I like my STEEL truck.
The 4A that this has works a lot like the Explorer, most of the time it runs in two wheel drive and if it detects lost traction it funtions like AWD, just like a Explorer, except being RWD based and the current Explorer being FWD, the 2018+ even have terain management like the Explorer, 4A is only available on Lariets and above. Iam sure your 2014 is nice, but going to one of the current models is more than just a little "tweek", it's more like night and day.
This is a very nice truck. Nicer than the GM, Toyota and Nisan offerings, but it falls well behind the new Ram in interior refinement, storage, ride quality and general passenger and driver comfort. When you start charging over $60,000 for a truck you better deliver on refinement! The time has come to get away from the rough old buggy leaf spring rear suspension. It also needs an all stainless exhaust and it needs to get away from the stacked headlight design that blinds oncoming traffic. They are the market leader and need to get with the program! There is a reason that since 2009 the Ram 1500 has grown market share more than any other brand and Ram owners have the highest percentage of brand loyalty over the last 10 years.
+mcse9073 rue Ecoboosts are some of the more reliable turbocharged engines and many have lasted 200,300 even 400 thousand miles with little to no repairs, that's proven enough imo.
I love that truck it's beautiful I've been with ford for my new vehicles since 2010 starting with the focus in 2010 then a Fusion in 2012 then another Fusion in 2015 and now a 2018 Escape and one thing I noticed is the interiors all look the same across all models except for the F 150's and 250's they are absolutely gorgeous in comparison and actually different love the two tone brown tan combination but it's impractical for what I do with ride share it would be counterproductive economy wise especially with the starting price at 60 k
The 2019 F-150 is on sale or its just show here for the video?! F150 is so good Ford didnt had to do much to the 2019 for sure and even the 2018 class leading over its 2019 competitors. I'm from Jamaica and we have good amount of the old F150s, even tho not a fan of old models but it shows how reliable they are. Been seeing 2017/2018 F150s here and there, not much but for sure more Ford vehicles been driving here particularly the Ford Ranger, Escape, Everest and to an extent the Explorer and Fusion. I like how our Ford dealership in Jamaica putting more Fords on our roads
@Wisconsin Archer Good luck. I just bought a used 2019 XLT Super Crew with only 22k miles for $26,000. I understand it's no Lariat, but it does have the heated seats, and the nice big screen for the backup camera and the radio and such. With a dealership giving out deals like that, how can you justify someone buying your 7 year old truck with over 100k miles AND they have to front the price of 4 tires for it? Might want to just cut your losses on that one bud and keep it until you absolutely need to buy a newer vehicle.
Great review Joe. You gave me a flashback to when our Coppers drove the F series(F100), 351cui. They were called Bull Wagons and yes I had a few rides in the back. We would get taken home to our parents! @#$%^&*() LOL
Hello Joe. Good evening mate. Is that the same 10 speed automatic transmission that the Ford boys and girls put into the Mustang GT ? If so is it more beefed up for the truck or the GT? Or both! Thx for the sweet review. We live in the age of the mainstream $50-80K truck. Krazy man.
Hi Philip! Yes it is the same gearbox although the ratios have been changed and the gearbox has been beefed up! This is whu a new common site is an 84-month loan.
you probably dont give a damn but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me
@Benjamin Anders I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Joe could you tell a difference on the power/ride etc with this lariat compared to the limited? Please note the ride and power handling etc differences. Ty sir great video.
I couldn’t imagine pulling 12-13k with a half ton. It’s absolutely absurd Ford advertises such numbers. I pull a 6800# 29’ TT with my F150 and when it gets windy it’s a pretty uncomfortable drive to say the least.
Upped the game on the price. $60,000 for a f150 pickup? It sounds like you don’t own a Ford F-150. $60k is too much cash to use as a work truck?? I wouldn’t recommend the tan interior unless you like cleaning. My 150 has 250k mikes. The Triton 5.4 3 valve started knocking at 75,00 miles. It still runs but burns some oil. On the original motor. Had to rebuild the upper and lower a-arms. Stuck Borg-Warner problem solver aluminum hD arms and genuine motorcraft ball joints. Stuck Billstein shocks around 4 corners. I’m thinking that this ecoboost 3.5 liter will likely get abused like the Triton. Run full synthetic motor oil and change at 5k 7,500 mile interval. I’m planning on yanking the exhaust and running a Borla exhaust cat -back. My opinion the 2019 XLT interior looks cheap with the front panel made of plastic. The Dodge Ram is nicer. Incidentally the Ford engineers aren’t that great. If they were the trucks would have a hybrid or similar power plant to augment the conventional oil burner. It took Rivian and Tesla to reinvent the auto industry. Mostly Tesla. The Big three US automakers did nothing but pump out ICE vehicles.
After doing much research on EcoBoost engines and associated problems I have come to this conclusion. As soon as you spend that 60 grand at the dealership and you walk outside I want you to look around and you will see Quint from the movie Jaws and he will be singing "Farewell Spanish Ladies" to you like he does to Hooper with his shark cage.
For the 2019 F150 Limited, upgrades include dual exhaust, suede headliner, and high output 3.5 EcoBoost engine (Raptor). My 2018 Limited sticker was $68.4k. In black. A premium color like white would have added another $595. It wouldn't surprise me if the 2019 Limited was at $70k.
Pretty sweet that they pumped up the Limited, but the XLT is their highest selling model and...no changes to it. Plus the Raptor's engine was a feature for the higher models all the way back in 2013. So to make this some big "new" release is a bit underwhelming.
