why is this arcade game open world? | The Coin Game 

Any episode that starts with Dan asking “Arin, what is this?” And Arin immediately going “man, I don’t know” is bound to be an absolute classic

I love how Arin IMMEDIATELY reverts into a Florida teenager upon starting the game.

Ah man, there's two whole arcades and a carnival with rides he missed. You can even deliver pizzas to the robots and other odd jobs. This game is great and made by only one guy!

Oh, I totally want another episode of this where they explore more. When they find out there’s an arcade with go carts.. when they find out you can by lottery tickets. The amount of stuff outside the arcade is wild.

"Timmy what was your favorite GG episode?" "I like the one where Arin walked around a virtualized rural america for a loooong time"

I like to imagine Arin going to a real arcade and spending several hours there and then leaving, meanwhile there is a small pile of tickets left behind in front of each game and he only had enough to get a pencil.

Game: 'A birthday party at the arcade, just for you!' Arin: *immediately walks out into traffic*

Dan: “what did it say? No nudity?” Arin: “no lifeguard on duty.” Dan: “awe”

Sometimes I forget how tall Arin is until he stands next to someone not Dan sized.

I'd like to see this continue as a series wherein Arin reaches the limits of the map, or travels to Los Angeles. Whichever comes first.

I thought Horse Club Adventures was a better open world than Elden Ring but this is another level on its own

3:17 Arin is right. IDK if its a pre-bought asset or not, but it really got the "Only economic zone in rural America" look down pat. From the sparsely separated offices, the electric wires running in random directions, to even the random ass kiosk selling fruit or some niche item nobody really needs. 😂

this is one game where Arin's overconfidence can truly shine. "Oh this easy, watch this." almost immediately followed by "FUCK THIS SHIT. This is impossible." So everyone take a shot for everytime Arin says something along these lines in sequence.

I don't know what I expected from this came, but there being a "Survival Mode" gave me such a double take I'm gonna need a chiropractor for this whiplash.

Arin: "Oh dude, I'm SO good at these" Also Arin: Somehow walked out $5 richer, 1000+ uncashed tickets, with a handful of candy, a mountain dew, and a glowstick. Well played sir.

I actually would have loved an entire episode of just them exploring this world

GOD, as someone who loves this game, I really gotta see how the hell they react to the survival mode. It really helps sell the narrative of the game. The fact that they didn't even read the store page to the game is fking wild xD

Arin is going to be that guy that you see in the villain robot's flashback as he's explaining his sad backstory to the protag. Then it's just gonna be this clip at 4:30

the fact that they stayed in the main arcade not going home or to the carnival or pirates bay arcade shows you they can have fun with out knowing the game has mini golf.

Arin immediately gets distracted and forgets the game mode he chose.

I hope they get to see the entire map, the go carts and the mini golf! They missed so much!

From the title screen I thought this would just be a bunch of bad mini games which it is, but it’s also a mid south small town simulator with squishy robots in place of meth heads.

I absolutely *adore* that they spent time making a chill small American town (unnervingly accurate as well) that feels alive and oddly open world. I think Arin might be a little traumatized by Florida, but when he had those fireworks next to the lake and the beachside fire, maaaan that brings me back. Summer vibes. But also a part of me secretly was hoping this became a secret horror game and the robots turned on you lol

Man the Coin Game is SO FUCKING GOOD and it needs more support, hopefully this drives a few more early access sales. Also, they did NOT put more effort into the world outside of the Arcades. This is a two-person team and every machine is a two-four week process of design and programming just to make it work!

This reminded me so much of the detour into Sonic Comic Covers we had a while ago, an absolutely fantasticly side-tracked episode.

I empathize with TheRaptor so much in the opening. Thats what it feels like to find an 'abandoned' server, that empty world feeling. When he is drawn to yellow truck it all makes sense. SImple striking imagery lights up his brain and he starts filling the world with story and life. A true artist

This is the EXACT type of game that is so ripe for out of nowhere becoming a horror game, and I'm sad that it doesn't.

it's like the makers of The Coin Game saw the Grumps play DreadOut and just walk away from the haunted school onto that endless road, and thought they should make a whole town just in case.

I love this game! It's a little rough around the edges and it's sense of humor is odd, but that really adds to the experience if you mesh with it.

i love this game!!! i really hope they play it again, a few things to note: 1) the dunko machine gives you a stuffed duck if you get one of each card, also you can move the place where the coin drops. 2) there's a bus that takes you all across the island which is cool 3) there are actually a few different arcades across the island, a space themed one, a carnival with rides, and more to come. 4) you can bring all the things you win, buy, or find back to your home and store them there in either your room or the garage 5) there are jobs you can take for money around the island like baby sitting, pizza/newspaper delivery, cart collector, and i think there are more being added again. i hope they play more of this, there's so much more than that one arcade.

Wow, this is really interesting. It reminds me of a game idea I had once as a teenager before I knew about the limitations of game design. The idea was to have it be a 1-to-1 recreation of the entire Earth, right down to the individual houses, integrated with Google Maps and satellite images and crowdsourced where each individual player had to make and contribute a 3D model of their home. The compelling part would be that you could explore the whole world from the comfort of your house, and use unrealistic videogame transportation like jetpacks to do so. There would also be plenty of unique things to do that you couldn't do in the real world. Well, this is about like what I had in mind - you can just wander around this island, whether there's anything extraordinary to see or not. Plus, the actual arcade is well made and complete. Very unnecessarily detailed, and relaxing. Kudos to whoever made this. The weird thing is, that old idea of mine sounds impossible, but there are coding wizards out there who could make a proof of concept for it in an afternoon and finish it in a weekend. I'll never understand why there are people like that in this world with insane talent, work ethic, and speed, and yet they only ever make one or two things because that's what they are passionate about. If those people could be hired by major companies, we could have 75 new Zelda games by now, for example, and they could all be unique and interesting. Y'know? I wish I was one of those incredible people, because I would change the world.
