I have a 50year old Stihl chainsaw and many others that have been fantastic machines. This particular rototiller has been one of the most problematic purchases I have ever made and has had minimal use, for, in my opinion, design flaws. Thank you for your videos which I really enjoy.

Has to be one of the best ever. In my field we call it "Root Cause Analysis". Lots of reasons why it could be seized, but finding the "why" is key. Very good. Thank you. The years of experience gives you the long list of "what could it be".

I've been watching stuff like that on RU-vid for awhile now. and I'm surprised how easy most of the fixes are. I'm watching and, I'm like. "are you serious, that's it". now I'm able to fix most of the problems myself. thanks for quick and easy information. you've probably helped a ton people like me. where we're not wasting mine or your time with a problem, with a little common sense. we could have it fixed in no time, and be on my way.

Well done my friend as i have now said many times you are good NO very good at teaching folk what to do in great detail. I have now watched quite a few Vids "playing catch up" and i can honestly say I have not been fed up once !!!! Another very informative video. Nice job showing the troubleshooting process. Too bad for that customer. It's a shame the repair parts cost more than a new tiller ! Just goes to show you, that sometimes, even with small engines, that it's sometimes better off, financially, to just buy another piece of equipment, than try to fix a broken one.

Great video, Steve. I vote for more like this. A quick story: I was out back the other night and I heard my neighbor trying to start his chainsaw so he could cut a few limbs into logs for his fireplace, but his chainsaw would not start (wouldn't stay running)... I hollered over the fence to him, "Sounds like somebody needs their carb cleaned!" What makes this story relevant is that I was totally thinking of YOU when I said it..! 2 weeks ago I cleaned the carb on his lawn mower (clogged main jet) after learning how to do so from you. So you have not only benefited ME, but my neighbors and friends, as well..! Since subscribing to your channel, I've "fixed" 4 machines that didn't run (my lawn mower, my string trimmer, a friend's generator and my neighbor's mower) - tomorrow I hope to fix my neighbor's chainsaw...! YOU ROCK..! AND I'm buying a shirt...!!! (Edited: Just bought a shirt & a sticker..!) PS: When are we gonna meet April..??!!

I recently stumbled across your channel and subscribed. This video exposed one of my pet peeves, the price of parts !! I don't care if your talking motorcycles, chainsaws or weed eaters parts are crazy expensive. It's sad that so many easily fixable machines end up in the scrap pile because its cheaper to replace than repair. Anyhow, keep up the good work, I am enjoying your videos.

This is a sad video since it is clear the owner did nothing to abuse his expensive machine but it broke anyway. A warranty is not a gift but the manufacturer limiting the time for which they will repair a defect. Without a warranty limitation they would be responsible to repair defects no matter how old the machine is. This failure is clearly due to a factory defect and Stihl should at least supply the parts for free even if the warranty has expired. Thanks for the heads up about Stihl.
@alext8828
@alext8828 4 года назад
From the look of that motor, it hasn't seen much wear. Stihl should step up and make good on that defect. I wouldn't by a Stihl if that's the way they want to play it. It's a defect from the start. What garbage.
@bentullett6068

We had a Stihl brushcutter in our shop the other day with exactly the same fault, possibly due to the customer not mixing the correct oil ratio. It also needed a piston and chamber kit and wasn't worth doing.

Had a "curb find" tiller once. Found out wy they chucked. Got it running and it ran great till it warmed up. Then it screamed like a wounded rabbit. Scored cylinder wall. My son pulled the engine and stuck an electric motor on it for the hell of it. Why? Because he could. It tilled like a bandit. It was quiet. As long as you were no more than 50' from an outlet you were set. Sometimes it's not the destination it's the journey.

Very interesting watching you strip that tiller engine to pieces steve Well considering the cheap and easy access you have to parts so still not worth repairing if not, im curious to know how much for another engine
