The battery is the key selling point. For folks who spend all day with headphones on a standard plug-charge headset isn't going to cut it. I use two pair (one at work and one at home) so I only really run into issues on the weekends but my Corsair Void Pros are only good for about 8 hours before they need a recharge.

Get the aftermarket ear cups (WC Freeze Nova Pro Wireless). They are a bit deeper and might help with your ear touching problem. The cooling gel isn't spectacular, but they are far more comfortable.

I think asking for the best "gaming headset" is the wrong question to ask. Because labeling any headphones or headset with "gaming" is just marketing. You just look for good headphones or headsets generally. In fact, if you're looking for a headset, you're limiting yourself a lot compared to getting a good pair of headphones and a standalone microphone. If you're still dead set on a headset, you could also consider getting something like an Antlion modmic, and turning any headphones into a headset.

I made the change from my Logi Pro X Wireless late last year to some Hifiman HE400SEs with an amp/dac and a Razer Siren Mini desktop mic for nearly the same price and I am never going back to gaming headsets. I started with Samson SR850s, which are hands down the best headphones for the price, and found out I like the open back sound stage.

I have a G935 too and the common problem with them is the power switch. It independently turns on the two speakers. Try wiggling the switch instead of banging the headset. Or replace the switch. The only place I found the switch was eBay. And all I replaced was the slider inside the switch. Unsoldering the old and soldering the new was too much work. But be careful when replacing the slider. The contacts are super tiny springs which pop out if touched. Handle with care.

The cleaning helped for a while as did the wiggling. BUt it ends the same. Had to solder in a new power button last week and it works good now. I think that if it happens again in the future I will just "hardwire" the connections and have the headset on all the time. I have "upgraded" the charging cable using an magnetic snap on connector too so that will keep-em charged up.

I have used many SteelSeries Arctis series headsets in the past, Actis 7, Actis 7 Pro, Acris Nova Pro ect and all of them suffer from poor build quality, defects with ear cups causing structural failure, low quality materials and ear cups being too shallow for most. Would not recommend to anyone unless you are happy to modify your purchase and void your warranty. SteelSeries will also not offer you a replacement unless you destroy the entire functional headphones even when there is structural damage caused by their own manufacturing processes that is widely accounted for through various media and sources online. Even in cases where the damage doesnt stop the headphones from working and it could be repaired and reused they would rather you destroy it than repair it which is an indicator that these things cost them less than it would to ship you in for repair.

I use the headset because A, the wireless receiver charger hot swap battery design is insanely nice, but I have one major reason to have them. I am a drummer with an ekit and when I drum, I have my drums outputting from the receiver to my headphones, and I have my phone Bluetoothed simultaneously to the same headphones which I can then hear my drums and the song I'm practicing at the same time. Having both seamlessly at the exact same time was the major reason I got them and have truly loved them beyond that since

I also have a G935 and just ordered the Nova Pro wireless to forget about battery life. Regarding the one-sided audio problem, I also have it, but I fix it by wiggling the power button since it only happens when I turn it on while not pushing the power button all the way up. I also have an issue where my mic sounds bad after unmuting it, so to fix it, I mute and unmute it again by moving it up and down. That said the G935 served me well for more than 3 years now, So I hope the Nova is as good, especially seeing how the earcups are connected to the headband.

The simultaneous wireless and Bluetooth playback is another feature that just makes these headphones so frickin’ nice. I had my left ear touch the damn anc-mic which after a few hours became quite uncomfortable. However I bit the bullet and bought the wicked cushions upgraded thicker ear pads after a week of having my left ear cartilage starting to hurt after a couple hours of use. Which instantly made the headphones so much more comfortable. Now it should be said that I had this issue even though I have the updated version of the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless on which the anc-mic doesn’t protrude as badly as the original ones did. And obviously after paying 350 frickin’ dollars SteelSeries I honestly don’t think it’s too much to ask for that thicker ear pads should’ve been included. Because paying another $30 just sucks to get reasonably fitting headphones does sting a bit. Especially considering that it’s definitely not a particularly rare occurrence that people are affected by this issue. Regarding the sound of the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless (and it’s ArcTIS not Articus or Arcticus 😉) I do think it’s a bit of a drawback with these headphones that if you want an acceptable listening experience you do have to fine tune the eq. And that’s irrespective of what kind of software mode you’re choosing to use, be that Sonar or Engine. You do have adjust the eq as out of the box you’ll have terrible sounding pair of headphones. Of course if one had the predecessor to these the, Arctis Pro Wireless well then you’re not likely to be surprised by this fact. Regarding the SteelSeries software for PC…well the maturity and the overall UX unfortunately is still, as of June 1 2024, not great to be honest. There’s some baffling oversights or just frustratingly poor design choices regarding the eq adjustment nodes in Sonar where the damn property box of a eq node/dot just covers/obstructs the portion of the eq-curve that that particular node adjusts. Forcing you to click away to another part of the eq the see how your adjustments affects the eq…it too me, signals that the people actually developing or programming the software doesn’t even use the hardware the damn software are meant for. Nor does anyone responsible for QA/QC as this would’ve been caught and fixed prior to public release. So now this persist from patch update to patch update… Because I don’t think there’s anything rivaling these headphones on the market at this moment they can get away with not really caring about something that is a ridiculously simple thing to fix. Even though I am kinda captured in that I don’t want any other headphones I do still love most things about these headphones, to be sure. It’s just that it leaves a bad taste when neglect and/or laziness already exist affecting SteelSeries headphone stack, including their latest and greatest flagship halo product… Anyhoo Luv ya 🫶👋✌️🖖 take care!

I went through 4 of Logitech's M570 trackballs. I loved how they felt in the hand and having the quick response to thumb movement. Only downside was them dying after 18 months or so with the left button starting to double/triple click because the microswitch was wearing out and they were too cheap to add even a small debounce circuit to extend the life of the switch. I wasn't about to try my hand at soldering since I lack the right tools (My only solder iron is one of those cheap-ass ones that came in a cheap toolkit I got years ago.). I now have the M575, so we'll see if the trend continues.

I bought a second-hand bundle on eBay with Philips Fidelio X2HR headphones and a VModa attachable boom microphone. I honestly think it is a way better solution than wireless headphones: no battery , no electronic parts that could not be repaired if damaged, and a very high quality unaltered sound (no fancy extra bass or similar sound compressor). The microphone is not as great as I expected, but is still a step better than the awful noisy recording from this video. And I could change it at anytime by a better microphone if needed.

My setup for 10+ years - A pair of Beyerdynamics DT990 edition and a Røde NT1-A on a boom arm. I have replaced the headband and the earmuffs twice. Paying extra for better quality, well knowing it is better quality is something I've always practiced, since it usually saves me money in the long run, because all I have to do is basically just replace some of the cheaper parts and all the rest continues to work flawlessly. Also I avoid buying anything that has "gaming" put in its name or being marketed for gaming as it usually is lower quality, maybe with a specialized EQ for "gaming purposes" that for me just distorts the soundscape, so I bought a pair of headphones meant for all things in the spectrum of sound and I have recommended doing the same to all my friends, because they'll never regret it. I have an external USB audio interface that controls my headset and microphone and its the Audient ID4, which I would like to replace some day with the RØDEcaster pro when I ever get that kind of money. haha Mainly because I would love to have some hardware sliders to turn up and down volumes of different things and not just all of it at the same time. As a fellow bald man, I know your pain.

i have the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless headphones and while I don't really know if it would make a difference, they do come with microphone socks in the original packaging. However (and this is why mine was never installed) with the mic sock installed, you cannot stow the mic in the recessed slot on the headphones. Installing the microphone sock may cut out some of the wind noises overheard in the demonstrated audio recorded from the nova pro's microphone. I got mine because they were the best quality at the time that also offered 2 simultaneous connections, wirelessly, so that I could have my headphones on while gaming and the audio would be muted in favor of an important incoming phone call. I have an ill family member, and needed to be able to hear phone calls from them, as I live nearby and could assist them if they needed to call and the phone wouldn't be drowned out by the audio from gaming.

This has been an issue for me, even with headphones and headsets before I upgraded to Turtle Beach. Besides cleaning up the little bits that fall off, it's more comfortable and a little more ventilated afterwards, so I don't mind it all that much. I currently have 2 Stealth 700's 1st gen, one for Xbox and one for PS4. When I went to gift a set to a friend, I found they replaced them with a 2nd gen model with a 20 hour battery and flush mic. Logitech makes good peripherals, except for headsets. I have a Steelseries Arctis Pro wireless headset. It has its quirks, but overall, it's a reasonable wireless studio monitor. When I bought it, it was because they aren't overly heavy on bass. If they ever fixed the issue where they amplify line noise, they're going to be solid. My older Arctis Pro set sounds like fuzz when nothing is playing. EDIT: I still use it from time to time, but my current setup is a couple sets of Aftershokz wireless headsets connected to a bluetooth audio endpoint, and a desktop microphone. When one goes flat I swap to the other. I still love the Steelseries headset, but the vastly reduced weight on my head is nice. overall cost works out roughly the same.

It might be the internets favorite headset because of Advertising but in reality it’s just another gaming headset and the wired Arctis Nova Pro is just louder than most gaming headsets. I’m still trying to figure out where the bass is on the EQ because when I move the bass up or down the sound doesn’t change much. The highs give you a more noticeable change when you EQ them. This is when using the Sonar software. The EQ in Dolby gives you more control over the sound and it sounds more open with Dolby. I am pretty sure DTS would make them sound better as well. It’s ridiculous that a $250 wired gaming headset that doesn’t have it’s own proprietary software doesn’t give you a DTS license while $50 headsets gives you a free DTS license. Anybody can use Sonar for free because it’s a BS software nobody would buy

i had a set of steelseries arctis pro wireless but i returned them almost immediately. whenever its on battery power, either 2.4ghz or bluetooth, it would have a constant background hiss, that i can only assume is from noisy power management. that along with them feeling too sealed, giving me that *on an airplane* feeling and headache, i sent them back after like 3 days. my girlfriend has the same headset, and it had the same hiss as mine, yet she somehow doesnt seem to notice it..?

These are... fine. Honestly, I agree with everyone else, the killer feature is the swappable dual battery. The tabletop USB DAC with two inputs and a line out output is also cool, although it sucks that the wireless version doesn't have a straight headphone out, since it makes it harder to use it with a different set of headphones. Buuuut... it kinda sucks that the hub doesn't have a stand for the headphones, the ANC is mediocre and the sound quality is not great. I don't know, maybe I'm spoiled, but I have the same Sony headphones and the difference is night and day. Even my old Plantronics (now Poly) Focus headset has a much nicer sound. The Arctis doesn't sound cheap, but if you have some decent dedicated headphones to compare it with it's definitely mediocre for the price by comparison, even with all the ANC features turned off. The microphone is good, though, and I do like how neatly it retracts. I am still using these. They are convenient, comfortable and very functional, but I am considering keeping my Sony headphones near my desk to use them when I don't need to be talking. They may actually be the best gaming headset out there, but unfortunately that's because there isn't a truly great gaming headset, period.

The range, and the battery swap makes them awesome. The sounds is above average but nothing to write home about. For a true over the ear wireless headset with a mic there just isn't much out there and what there is, is just worse. I don't expect a pair of Dianas with a mic, but it would be nice.

i also have the g935, i found that the power switch is at fault, if you fiddle with it a bit, you can get it back into working order, for a while, it's annoying and it continues to happen, but eventually i guess i will buy another g935, because i really like the programmable buttons on the side, making it possible for me to skip to next track, pause, or even use push to talk in discord. so yeah i kinda really want to keep those functions, and it doesn't seem that any other headset on the market comes with programmable buttons like that, so buy another i will do, btw im on my 3rd one, and realise that it's an issue.

One of the things that is often ignored is the often poor quality software required to be able to use all the features on headsets. My own Razer set expected me to be fully kitted out with Razer offering options for all their hardware and was nightmare to remove from my system despite many emails to their support team i ended up just reinstalling windows and have never installed it again. Steel series is not so bad but it would be far better if they just worked like proper headphones or just had a very light weight app to adjust certain features that doesn't need to run at start up for no benefit to anyone.

Just buy a normal headset like Beyerdynamic or Sennheiser, etc. Do you need a mic? Okay, get a modmic. Sure, you will probably need an "external audio card" - DAC/AMP, and all of this is pricey, but damn it is WORTH all the money. I have gone this route instead of buying any more of the "gaming" headset stuff, since it is all worthless piece of c.... I get it that wireless headphones are nice and all, but it simply isn't the best solution for good audio quality, and if you only need them for PC use, then a wire is not a problem really. Better to buy a quality stuff once than buying these "gaming" peripherals everytime they break, and trust me, break they do. I learned the lesson the hard way.

I hate headsets with faux leather cushions. The PU always starts to crumble after a few years and most of the time you can't even get them as original replacement parts. Also, they get super sweaty in warm weather. The beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro might be wired, but they're some of the best headphones ever made. I bought mine 12 years ago and apart from replacing the cushions after a decade, they're good as new. A modmic or any other microphone will turn it into a headset. Or just get the beyerdynamic MX 300.
