Why Is This Watch IMPOSSIBLE To Buy? 

Timex may be a "budget" brand in some eyes, but like Citizen and Casio they make quality watches. I would rather wear a Timex Automatic than a Bulova quartz or MVMT or Fashion brands who up charge for branding with really poorly made Chinese watches. Watch lovers do like and respect Timex so you won't get laughed at for wearing one. if you like it buy one.

What kind of movement? Sounds like something I might want to do to mine.

@@RexApplegate The Timex M24 and M72 movements are dimensionally and mechanically identical. I had a bad movement and was able to source an M72 replacement. Timex did issue repair manuals years ago. I would suggest removing the hands with hand levers and replacing them with presses. If you have additional complications (sweep second, day, date) confirm the replacement supports those features. It really is a simple upgrade if you take your time and source the right part. Took me about an hour.

And imo they can compete with some of the better Ali Express brands in a similar price range.

This is just me, but I cannot take Timex seriously. For me they will always be associated to the cheap, cheerful wilfully unreliable pin-lever watches I used to wear as a kid. In 1970s Italy they were marketed as kids' watches and the stigma has not worn off.

I bought a timex expedition because it was on clearance. It has become one of my very favorite field watches. I honestly love it way more than I thought I would.

@@allenmontrasio8962 Well, when I was a kid, Japanese cars were cheap little things for people who couldn't afford a real car. By the time I was in high school their prices were rivaling that of American cars and they were developing a reputation for being of much higher quality. I still refused to buy one because of that "stigma" that only existed in my head but clearly not in the view of the general public. When in my early 20s I traded my Camaro in for a Toyota MR2 (the original) and it was like getting out of a clunker into a Porsche. Timex is STILL cheap and cheerful but not unreliable. That's ok because that was always their selling point. Rolex, on the other hand, has gone from premium tool watch to expensive hood ornament that has outlived its usefulness. And I've had 2, one of the last Submariners with the hesalite crystal and a GMT Master about a decade later. I was sorry I sold off the Submariner and hated the soul-less thing the GMT Master had become. Timex, on the other hand (though I'm into Seikos and Omegas now) has maintained its original vision.

Probably gets too much love given the tat they knock out 95% of the time. Specs are always terrible for the price, there's always something glaringly wrong with every watch they release.

Maybe it depends on where you were brought up, but here back in the 1980s everyone had a Casio LCD Digital (I was born in 1969)

34mm is just too small, they should offer something like 37 and 40
