There are dedicated awards for colourists and, fortunately, when cinematography gets and award, that implies the grading is great as well.

avery color-grading affected movie is Justice League. the two versions of it (theatrical and snyder) are very very differently mainly because of color grading.

There is, it's for cinematography. Having one just for colour grading would be like having an oscar for best sound mixing.

They never put any categories that are nit detailed except for director and among other things but never for color grading, hell they never award those who put gold on a movie taking place in Mexico, just beautiful

Everything can change in the course of history, regardless the actual fundamental artistic and technical facts saying that all the cinematography "department" (DOP + Editorial Departament) wins an academy award, instead of one aspect of it; color grading (before: color timing). Advanced color grading with new updates in Base Light or Davinci are something more new than most would think. And now that is all it techniques are spreading abroad the consumer world, people that go to see the movies are more aware of differences. Maybe the time for this explosion is close, so that the boom would make the oscars to change the way they taste this cake. And being a cake, there is a lot of science in the recipe and maybe a lot of art in the making.

Colour grading is overseen by the DOP. They generally advise the colourist in post-production. This is why it is classed as cinematography

I look it as last cherry on top in well made production, not to disrespect colorist out there but compare to stun and costume / VFX / screenplay colorist work on 90-95% on almost finish material its like giving an award to the guy who put the cherry on top, will the customer be mad if there is no cherry on their plate? yes.

I don't think there should be any awards for anyting artistic, because all art is subjective.
