Disclaimer: Xreal did send this to me for free under the Xreal insider program. However, this isn't a sponsored nor paid video, as always, all opinions are 100 percent mine. Stay tuned for a more indepth view, tips and tricks.
Any chance you have the xreal hub that splits power? I ask because I love Samsung Dex, and Xreal Beam. Currently the xreal beam burns more power than the xreal beam receives via charge. Could you test charging phone connected to beam pro? Curious to know if both devices can be charged to 100% while charging and using the device. I'd appreciate any info you provide. Great video and content
I was thinking of getting the Pro but when I decided to go for it my promo code had expired. In a way I don't want to have to carry a larger device just to use my Xreal glasses as my S22U already serves that purpose. I took out my Beam to use it some more and honestly it's a pretty decent device itself minus some missing features. It's only Netflix and Prime Video that are in 480p. Everything else is in sharp 1080p. If I get the Pro later on it's basically replacing my S22U and Beam. The thing is that my S22U has DeX mode which you can't do something similar on the Pro. I will wait for more reviews. I like that the Beam could be controlled without a display.
This is the review that most usually skip. you point out important points, and answered my most unanswered questions regarding xreal and the beam. thank you. hopefully you can show, how it can be connected to mac, if it can be a replacement for a monitor, if I can play netflix or drm stuff that requires HDCP devices to play. then Im solved here. thank you Kola
Thank you... Unfortunately, i don't think i'd be able to replace a monitor because it doesn't have the hardware to support video input, but perhaps maybe streaming in future updates. Netflix streams in hd though
I plug directly n to my phone i use the original beam to play content that i stored on it i have the same phone as u and a I phone alsoi also use the new usb adapter and a portable charger great video out of all the videos on this u are the only one who understands what this device is and its purpose others clueless
I'm surprised none of you guys are doing in depth info on how to connect up and play games on steam or xbox etc. I've only found 1 youtuber in a different language (Chinese I think) talk about this. Would be great if your next video on the pro included this info.
So you have used the device. Are there any other spacial features that you might come to it. Like casual games that could exploit the 3D element like the apple vision pro, or is it too rudimentary? Do you think a developer could create an AR or most interestingly as VR environment with the Beam Pro and the newest glasses?
Interesting questions. There are a few casual games avaible in 3d, but in the way in 6dof. With the current set up, i'd say yes it's very basic. However with the Air 2 Ultra which has cameras, that could be something different and much more, but the ultra isn't available yet.
It's coming to me real soon. They obviously have big plans for the Ultra with the Besm Pro. Thanks for your review. I watched all related ones. Need to get a url to that bike its cool.
Sadly these glasses not support any of the mainstream VR AR core sdk-s only they own so no matter what app you gonna download probably not gonna work natively.
Just found out that the Beam Pro has no USB video inputs...it is charge only. One step forward, but a huge step back if you want to stream from a PC, Steam Deck, or even a Switch.
Yeah I just found this out too. I'm glad that I didn't pre-order one now. $200 is cheap for a phone like device to do almost everything assuming you don't already have a device like what I have in my S22U. The fact that it doesn't have input is a deal breaker for me. I wanted an all-in-one device to replace both my S22U and my Beam. In a way I think the Beam is a better device even after all of its shortcomings. You could easily install apps on there now as long as you have a 3rd party store like Aptoide. To be fair tho when using the Beam to input gaming devices it does introduce more latency vs straight plugging it in. You can't do 120Hz while using the Beam too. I just hope Xreal will keep improving the Beam to provide new features. I'm not sure if it will ever get the Play Store now that the Pro is going to be out. They have to provide a reason for people to pay more I guess. Maybe they didn't do video input on purpose on the Pro so they people will still have a reason to buy the Beam as well.
@@volcalstone bro I like your take on it, you are logical. I also do feel like it's shortcoming not having an input, but if you really think about it, there isn't any phone out there with display input either. A lot of phone don't even support display output for that matter. I think this device is built on an existing phone, and they just modified it a bit. Building a phone from the ground up will be too tasking, and definitely cost more than $200 price tag.
@@KingKola_ great, that's the only thing the advertising materials from Xreal couldn't answer and I was waiting for your review. Keep it up, I really like your videos covering the glasses!👍🏻
Hi there. Please, could you help me with a couple of questions? I have a pair of NREAL Air glasses and I would like to know if I can use them with the XREAL Beam Pro. Additionally, I would like to know if I can watch Netflix without any problem. Kind regards
Please make a video comparing all of the latest AR glasses and their respective accessories (Xreal Ultra, Xreal Beam Pro, Viture One, Rokid Max, Rokid Station 2, TCL RayNeo, etc). We would like to know the Pros and Cons of everything and which ones have the best display quality, screen size, etc. Which glasses generate heat on certain parts of your face? Which glasses have proprietary connectors? Etc etc.
@PSYCHOV3N0M I hope to get my hands on the Ultra when it comes out. I'll be making a video on the Rayneo with its pocket tv device probably next week, i'm trying to get something going with viture as well. As far as proprietary connection, Viture is actually the only one i know of that does that in terms of physical connections.
Great breakdown with the history and challenges! There are some people with point out and criticize Beam Pro has no DP INPUT which limits all sorts of connectivity if you want direct connection to say a PC. How does one solve this problem with Beam Pro? Or how do you get around the limitation of having no DP INPUT?
@TradeThisChart-td5ne thank you. Right now i personally use remote desktop connection, and Xreal team told us they will be adding ota update for miracast for wireless connectivity to devices usch as PC's.
I can understand those who always prefer a seamless first-party hardware experience. But if Xreal doing it, they have to do more with the Beam Pro. At the very least, they should give a hardware similar to a normal upper-midrange or flagship killer smartphone.
But then the price will be much higher, because as of now no phone in similar price point can do what the beam pro can. Like not even Samsung A50 or any of the pixels in that relm, nothing even close literally.
Hope u can cover 3 or 6dof(for ultra?) relative to pc use on ur next video. I've been interested in the xreal for a while now, specifically as a replacement for my multiple windows pc monitor set up for work (browser + ms office). I understand that ms office would probably be available on the beam pro without the need for a pc but the ms office on android has very limited formating options. I really want this for pc gaming too.
Any idea if they're going to keep updating the Xreal Beam? Seems like it could do a lot of what this device is doing with software updates, assuming that's it's powerful enough. I'll have to compare the specs at some point
Yes, updates should continue. On this new beam, you can't connect things like xbox, or switch to this because it doesn't have video input, but the original beam does.
@@KingKola_ .. oh wow, interesting 🤔 .. guess I won't sell or get rid of my 1st Gen Beam .. I'll keep both 1st and 2nd Gen .. until we figure out how to connect to Xbox, ECT ..
Are you kidding me that it doesn't have USB-C input? This might be a deal breaker for me as I was hoping to replace both my S22U and Beam. This really sucks. I'll see if I really want to get one down. If I do it would have to be on sale or so. $200 is too much for just a Beam with a display with no inputs. I missed out on the promo by one day but I was going to get the higher version anyways which would've been $200. Now I'm thinking I might get the 5G version instead later this year.
If it was not for the 3D or spatial option on this device, I most likely would buy only the ventura glasses, but Xreal Beam Pro is a game changer.... now I'm in doubt what to do. Guess I wait a while for new developments....
If video input port isn't a deal breaker, then get the xreal/beam pro combo, trust me. I feel like i was the first to criticize the original beam, but this one is definitely different.
@@KingKola_ Thanks, that sounds great. I'll wait a few weeks before I decide what to buy. Maybe I get to see some pictures or videos taken with the xreal beam pro. I could use my Quest3 for that..
Thanks Kola for all the new ideas, and awesome reviews, however dose this device work with other glasses too, like the rayneo XR for instant, if so is there any limitations?
@nonizime the glasses work like any other glasses, but the beam pro is like no other. It's what gives the glasses power. You can pretty much download any android applications to it and it will run. So yes you can download the applications for like Rayneo glasses, and it'll work, but the experience won't be any different than what you'd get with any other android phone that supports display port. But since this device was built by Xreal for their glasses, only xreal glasses will be able to use the nebula os operating system on the device. Nebula OS is what takes the ar experience to a whole new level.
Hi, is it true that it doesn't support DP in like the original beam? So we won't be able to use it wired with other devices like pcs, nintendo switch, etc?
@LegendHunter22 yes, but since nebula os was built by xreal for their glasses, you'll have a better experience with the rokid station for rokid glasses.
So I bought the pro and I liked some things with the beam but overall it was a hassle. IK a lot of people don't want another device to watch content but I personally do. Kind of reminds me of how ipods were used strictly for entertainment purposes. I mostly watch content on my iPad so having a smaller device just entertainment is great. That way I fong have to consume my phone battery
@KingKola .. Question : does it have a slot for sim card or is it capable to have LTE ( in case im out and about and don't have any WiFi ) .. just wondering, that would be dope .. Holla Back .. i pre-ordered 8GB + 256GB version , looking forward to receiving my Beam Pro ..
@@KingKola_ .. dang .. I need to see if the one I ordered has LTE capabilities .. might be returning or cancelling my order .. or I may just buy another Beam Pro LTE , if available .. We shall see .
this device gets me a little excited because I'm an iphone 14 user. What i need to know is if this device is compatible with the viture xr pro glasses because I invested in those.
It can open viture's android app called spacewalker, but it's features are very basic. You'll get the best experience with xreal glasses and xreal beam pro. Or Viture glasses and viture band. But yes it does work.
@@KingKola_ so spacewalker android is basic. I'll have to keep an eye on that over some time. I don't own a recent android device to even try. i do own a steam deck oled. as far as viture's neck band i say they need to keep working on it.
I assume you mean the Rokid lite? If so, i'm many ways yes. The Rokid lite is cloud based, so you really won't be able add apps to it, and possibly play videos from services Netflix, etc. But what it will be great at is working with cloud services like Microsoft office as they work great cloud based. I can't wait to try it though and really explore it's potential.
Tell us about Netflix quality does it work on the full package of Netflix? I have the Chinese version it’s working good but i want to know the global version if it’s better i will get one but it’s not very good quality
@@KingKola_I have my doubts that it's actually in HD. If this acts like my S22U mirroring or using DeX it's not full HD. Like I could tell there is more banding and the picture quality isn't that great vs me using a Google TV dongle. I just wanna know if you see the HD icon on Netflix prior to playing the content. I look forward to your review tho.
I honestly don't know, but there won't be any point even if you could because the viewers will need 3d capable devices, otherwise it'll just look like a weird 2d video.
I'd let other folks be the guinea pigs for this. The original beam seemed never have any support and was almost useless. Only way to make it interesting was to side-load it. It got hot as heck when using and the battery drained so fast, even with a power source. Don't be that early adopter and let someone else figure out if it actually is worth it and gets future support! The more I think about it, XReal should just create a proper PC/MAC app so we don't need this cell-phone sized thing. Well, at least they provided a trade-in I guess (checking if I bought thru Amazon).
The device says it's 90hz. It doesn't say what screen supports 90hz. Is it the built in screen? Is it both. Also, the original Beam had 90hz but it was only for head rotation. Content only ran at 60hz. Is that the same? I wanted to be able to stream games at 90hz from my pc and maybe a couple small mobile games if it could handle it. I did buy this but I have too many questions about it just like the original Beam that they did a poor job of documenting.
@MobileDecay the display of the physical device is 90hz, but the resolution you get in the glasses are 60hz when connected. But has you know software update can easily take it to 120hz. As far as your goal, keep in mind the beam pro doesn't have a video input for wired connections. So every option will be on wife using something like xbox cloud, steamlink, moonlight and such, which may introduce some lag depending on your wifi.
@@KingKola_ Thanks. I know it doesn't have display port. I was hoping to at least be able to stream using moonlight at 90hz. 120hz would be even cooler!
My Beam has only 20GB of internal storage. I can put 1080p videos on the Beam. How big is the internal storage of the Beam Pro? Does it have GPS? When I ride an e-bike, I want to use a gps speedometer app or navigation. Can the Beam Pro be used as a pointer like the original Beam?
128g or 256g option and expandable, yes can be used like a pointer. I can't confirm gps. An xreal team member says it doesn't, but either the wifi positioning is very good or she's incorrect.
