@@seanstevens7813 That was nice, just took a trip to Cedar City Utah, beautiful State. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for sharing your video.✌️
Watch at 1/4 speed.... Driver got in some thicker snow to the left....as the pickup approaches....then drive hit brakes... lost control.... In other words driver's mistakes caused the loss of control
When I was very young I lived in the far north snow country, us young kids always drove on bald street tires because we couldn’t afford better and we didn’t know better. But even with all that we still never drove as bad as that guy, how in the world did he totally lose control in the first place?
Multiple times I’ve been the witness to a fender bender and I’ve watched as the officer tells one driver go stand over there, the other driver go stand way over there, then when I start telling the officer what happened 1 or both of the drivers in the fender bender walk closer trying to hear me tell what happened, then the officer says to them I told you to stay back there while I get his statement. It’s a really good idea to listen to the officer.
For those who say he was following to close.. if he was he would not been able to move to the left and would have hit have hit the spin out car instead. And the car hit him.
I drove off and on through the years for a total of about 15 years cross country. I’ve pulled reefers, flatbeds, container, and even a mobile shower doing events all over the U.S. While this doesn’t make me the greatest expert of all experts to ever share an opinion, it does mean I’m not just an armchair critic. I thought the truck driver did a fine job. He stayed calm, he reacted in an intelligent practical manner, maintaining perfect control of his vehicle and didn’t overreact when the car hit him. There was nothing I can see that he could or should have done differently. I would ride with this driver anytime as a co-driver if I wasn’t retired.

Yeah the driver of the car said I hit him a laughed and told him he spun out and hit the trialer when I mentioned I had him on dash cam he never said anything more to me I turned it in to my company and that was the end of it
I’d almost be tempted to go with it, let them make an official statement to the police and their insurance company and then drop the footage. Charge them with additional offences...
That’s ok. Now your truck is broke down from you ruined the clutch. And your got your wages garnished for abounding me. You thought you could leave me with nothing for a co worker. Dead beat husband
For those who are watching the video that want to leave comments for your info this accident was ruled none preventable by the insurance so please don’t be rude and miss understand the propose of the video
I liked it. Knowing something was about to happen, I was looking for a car to come flying over the center divide or suddenly a car is stopped in front of you. I didn't expect that truck and jumped when he flew by. So did the guy in front of you too! I held my position though. That's some thick wet stuff there.
Being in Canada, I've driven in that weather many times and just watching made my balls contract. Just lifting your foot off the gas too suddenly can put you in the ditch.
You don’t have to keep explaining anything. If they can’t handle the length of the video then that’s ok. Every one always has a complaint. Or something good to say. You did your job by bringing our supplies to our homes and not having A bigger accident than it was. Good job my awesome husband..
I have to say, I would be the one in the pick up truck, not because I'm impatient, just because I would drive that speed if there was no one about. Secondly, great advice Sean, dash cam's are needed when you get a prick like that car driver, and saying you hit him is comedy gold ( wanker) he saw the pick up coming, touched the brakes like a wuss and that was it. You actually went out the way to avoid the prick, more of this type of vid required, thanks.
Doesn’t matter what you think I should have done the title is why is a good idea to have a dash cam not speculate what I should have done this was a none preventable meaning I was not at fault
Hindsight says that you should have slowed down to the car's speed and followed further away But that means that instead of (as it looks like) the car hitting your trailer wheels, it would have come into your lane, even if you veered left and you might have hit it with your bumper. Much more dangerous. You never know.
Really doesn’t matter what you would have done or think what I should have done it was ruled as a none preventable and iv been doing this for 15 yrs the point of the video is why it’s a good idea have a dash cam saved me becouse without it probably would have blamed on me but thanks for your comment
It’s funny how people give opinions on what they will do well just so you know a truck driver never knows exactly when bad weather will arise however the car in this video was a fault me being behind this had nothing to do with the car spinning out nore me being in the bad weather caused the accident that was the cars doing so I appreciate your opinion if you don’t drive a semi or drive for a living you have no clue
bullshit, I always knew the weather by checking forecasts and I always drove according to the season conditions. Truth is, the driver was way too comfortable in driving like he does. Yes, fhe car hit him, but it was preventable.
@@TheCrimsonTruthYouCantHandle He was too comfortable? So a broken heater could have prevented this? You know you replied to the guy with the dashcam, right?
You know why it’s a non preventable becouse I’m not the one who lost control and created a chain reaction I did what I had to do to avoid by simply moving over to the left lane me being behind him didn’t cause the events to unfold that’s why it’s a non preventable
Main u don't have to explain yourself to non truck drivers 85% of the accidents I been in was because of a 4wheeler doing something stupid U DID A GOOD JOB trying to avoid a accident any driver hate to be in one but it's sweet news when they say it's not your fault KEEP IT BETWEEN THE LINES AND WHEELS DOWN dash cam saved my hide a few times too
Dead beat husband. That’s day you were a a$$ hole to me because you had to drive in that. You thought you leave your family on the streets and leave us financially destitute. Now you don’t have that truck. You tell me to shut the f up and do as I’m told.. I’m. Not going. I have a right to speak . Because you don’t have the upper hand you blocked me like a coward . God takes what don’t belong to you .. amen
Thanks Sean for teaching how to drive, u are the best , lots of memories with u, all good ones too lol. Fyi I'm currently with tribe express great company.
Thank you Daniel I hope your doing good there and Navajo may never appreciate the 9 yrs I put in with them I’m just happy to have a job something I really enjoy doing for a living and I’m glade I could share that with you
You could come work for the company that I do. We don't drive in that kind of weather. Company mandated shut down at closest safe haven. Delivery of load is rescheduled and we are paid to sit until the weather clears and the plows are done.
People do it all the time in Canada. For some reason a lot of people think it is a good idea to buy a 2wd in a place that gets snow for at least 4 months a year. FWDs move off the line a little better than RWD, but both don't handle inclement weather as well an AWD or 4WD.
Just a thought, people have their headlamps on auto and rely on the car to turn them on or off according to how light it is outside. They simply don't realize that the bright snow keeps the headlights off. Also people think about themselves and not anyone else, so they don't care if their headlights are on or off in bad weather as they figure it's your problem to see them. Wrong...... In any bad weather you should have those headlights on. See and be seen. Also, people don't even know the laws, in most all states it says that if it's raining and your wipers are on you should also have your headlights on. Do they do this (even though it's the law and they can be ticketed)??....No, they don't. So, I'm with you 100%. Not only slow down in bad weather, turn your headlights on so you're seen by others, please....
I was seriously questioning if he had sufficient distance between him and the car ahead. Points for trying to avoid the collision but seriously, he should have backed off some.
@@xaenon my thoughts also. He was gaining on that car which may have made the driver pretty nervous also. Nobody wants a large truck like that passing them in those conditions.
In USA, now having dash-cam becoming very common and popular as people start realizing the benefits of dashcam. Anyway Sean Stevens, would you mind If I Feature this video in a compilation from my main channel MegaDrivingSchool with credit and link to you? Thank you
He panicked when he saw the pickup coming to pass him for whatever reason and when hit the brakes, he lost it and due to lack of talent he couldn't keep it under control.
It was a dash cam I got from Best Buy can’t remember what brand but it high definition camera you can get dash cams with equal quilty depending on how much your welling to spend
Sean Stevens The couple of minutes, sets the scene. Of what it’s like, for the truck driver. The long hours, of close attention required. Or higher level idiots, will get ya.
Hey Sean, yeah the vid was a bit on the long side, but very informative. Thanks for sharing it w/ us and just ignore the rude comments from impatient viewers. Would like to see more!
And also the car hit my trialer not the truck you people need to realize in emergency there no room not enough time to stop it takes a fully load trialer and truck a foot ball field maybe 2 to come to complete stop depending on your speed in this video I’m only doing 25mph
Sean Stevens no, but it would have meant you had a sensible gap, so when it did spin you wouldn't have hit. What is the point on bearing down on a vehicle that can't / won't go any faster, and which you couldn't overtake? I suspect you just wanted to push him to go at a speed that suited YOU. Sorry, but this was totally avoidable.
And yes I work for one of those companies and they did review the video it was ruled as non preventable Agian doesn’t matter my following distance for 1 I didn’t hit the car and make him spin out him getting hit was the direct result of that car losing control that is why it’s a non preventable
I drove an 86 camero in the exact same conditions in Colorado the winter of 1988. I plowed through the snow like it wasn't there passing with confidence like the 4x4 in this video. Especially hazardous patches of black ice formed overnight remaing undetectable under fresh snow. There are two methods of detecting hidden black ice. One way is pay attention where melted snow crossess the roadway (especially under bridges on steep inclines and curves). Assume these areas are black ice if below freezing temperatures occured overnight. The other way is if you observe vehicles in front of you suddenly spin out of control as demonstrated in this video. If this happens do not respond by taking your foot off the gas petal and attempt to use the brake. If I was driving the big rig I would have done exactly like the truck driver in this video. That is all you can do in that situation! The fault is 100% the driver operating a vehicle that is unsafe because it has not been reconfigured for winter road conditions! Rear wheel drive vehicles like the Camero need a minium of 200- 300lbs (bags of concrete) over the rear axle and all four wheels fitted with studded snow tires! An inexperienced winter driver (Californian) could easily drive that Camero like the 4x4 in this video. I seriously wouldn't encourage anyone into driving high speeds, passing traffic on icey roads during a blizzard due to it's addictive nature! I hope this is helpful to someone, be safe & good luck.
Horseshit! That vehicle is sports car that is rear wheel drive with highway tread tires on it. That car should be home in the garage where it belongs and only driven when conditions are right. Not in a blizzard snow storm. I watch people with all kinds of high performance luxury cars go blowing by me at 80 mph while I'm in 4wd in my Dodge Ram doing less than the speed limit in conditions like this just waiting to pass them back down the road as they are now deep in a ditch or have become an ornament on an oak tree. Common sense goes a long way.
@@donaldsharpless1746 Well Sherlock. I was reffering to the truck that was too Close to the car in front. I dont care What car it is or What tires he is uding, but With wet snow like that it's always a good idea to keep at least 5 second distanse .
@@Sviming1ne I know what you were talking about dickhead! They were on open highway and everyone was traveling just fine until the guy in the camaro freaked out because he was being passed and hit the brakes too hard and lost it. I don't care how far back you are. That car was out of control in a split second and you can't stop a tractor trailer on a dime. If that driver would just keep backing up further aw ay from every car that passed him rode in front of him, he would never get anywhere. Let's all back up further so people who can't drive in these conditions can have the road to themselves. The truck driver drove clear off the road and never lost control and was able to stop his rig with no problem even after the camaro still hit him.
Can I have your permission Sean Stevens to include this clip in a video about road safety and accidents on my main channel DCtv?Full credit (with onscreen name of your channel ).Also if you have any additional information about the accident such as location or what happen you like to add as a comment that would be really helpful, if not that's ok. Look forward to your response.PS.Which dash cam do you use?
DC TV I don’t mind you can use it the video is more of a Safty or educational this happend in Utah on I 15 near cedar city ut as I was observing this driver I held back once I saw he was in trouble I move to the left lane to avoid the car spinning out however the car went right back into the lanes of travel and his car caught the back tandems of the trialer and pretty much rip the front of his car off I cleared of all this as not at fault I show this video as in hopes people see the importance of protecting yourself the camera I’m using in this video is a camera I bought at Best Buy years ago don’t remember the brand but it did its job thank you for your interest in the video I have completely different cameras now from falcon eye and I tend show that at later time
Nothing could be done to avoid this on the truck drivers end. The car driver lost control. Those of us who drive trucks knows exactly what this is all about
