Fun fact: After Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, poland declared war on Japan which Japan declined by saying that they did it under the pressure of Great Britain and they are too far away anyway. Treaty was signed in 1957 in New york
@@NajwaLaylah I mean no. It's not like a major battle happened in 1945 when we had radio a week after the treaty. I think the writing was on the wall that it was over after the 2nd atomic bomb, if not the first.

@@ivn2530 This is a mistranslation. Although "krab" means crab and 99% of time "zavod" is translated as factory, in this case it means man-made crab breeding ground - as in: a facility that breeds, feeds and raises crabs - typically to be harvested for food.
@@jwhite5008 thats cool that you know that stuff. I live in Russia and know the language, so i used the loose translation for joke ("crab factory" sounds funnier than for example "crab breeding facility")
@@klm2639 It is mostly because the Communists at the time didn't have a navy and the Nationalists very much had one. By the time the Communists got a working navy together the Korean war happened. The problem just kinda gotten kicked down the road.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder what the 'legal' precedent, if there is one, would be. Considering this was a war between the Soviet Union and Japan, not Russia and Japan.
@@seventh-hydra Russian Federation stated itself as an inheritor of all the economic and military deals that were signed on or were in action at the time of 1993 on behalf of Soviet Republic of Russia. So kinda, we just said “Yeah, we are technically the same, but actually no.”
Exactly, neither country exists anymore. The imperial Japanese state was dissolved by America during its occupation post WWII, and we all know what happened to the Soviet Union.
@@starfihgter4986 And I think ever since, the Japanese and Russians are trying to get over the hump that was the Kuril islands, even during the Soviet Union. Hopefully, The Russian Federation will finally end WW2. lol
That "screwy peace treaty" actually sounds exactly what America would do on purpose to make sure their two "former" enemies don't have a reason to get too buddy buddy with each other
I'm not sure when you mean. By the time the US got in the war, Russia had flipped to allied. If you meant after ww2 ended, that would just be a hot cold war.
@@itzimperiumxvi2620 not after the war ended. The axis was dissolved and Japan occupied by the US. And during the war, they still wouldn't support japan.
AbsolX Guardian yes but if we are going on the notion that WW2 is still ongoing then it would happen. Anyways don’t think any of this needs to be taken seriously
Funny. I see in the news that Russia just pulled out of the peace talks, citing Japan's support for Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia. Then, RU-vid recommends me this video. Coincidence?

As far as I know, Poland and Russia haven't signed a peace treaty with Russia after world War 2. The west just threw us under the bus and that was that. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
@senzei dude the Wikipedia is not good at information cuz people could just edit things, and if so the USSR is supposed to get all of its territory back.
Btw, that tank in the video is an IS-2. Or a JS-2. Depends on how you pronounce Josef Stalin. If you say it like Iosif Stalin it’s an IS-2 and vice versa. It was developed from the IS-1 and was made in response to the new German heavy and medium tanks like the Mark 5 “Panther,” Mark 6 “Tiger,” and their variants.
Japan: We are a new country and definitely not a part of Imperial Japan. Russia: Also, we are not Soviets now. HAI: I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that.
WW2 did end when Soviet Union was dissolved, since there's no paper signing that Russian Federation is the official Successor State to USSR, it means that Russia (or Russian Federation) is a completely different country. And if Russia is still at war with Japan, they so is Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Kazakhstan, and all other states that broke away from USSR.
You forgot about how Berwick upon Tweed was at war with Soviet Union until the 1980s, because the Parliament had mentioned "Berwick on Tweed" when the Crimean War began.
What you're forgetting is the the soviet union collapsed (am I'm sure you know) and you can't be at war with a country that doesn't exist. WW2 ended in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed.
Well, if we're getting technical here, technically the country Japan was at war with, the USSR, no longer exists meaning that there doesn't need to be a peace treaty to end the war.
Technically Kuril Island dispute ended in 1991 because the dispute is between Japan and Soviet Union, Soviet Union lo longer exist in 1992 even though Kuril Islands now belongs to Russian Federation.
Actually. Given that the war was between a nation that no longer exists and Japan, doesn’t that mean, that technically, since the war therefore didn’t end until 1991, Japan WON World War II?
A bar? Missed opportunity to turn that place into a seafood restaurant. It would fit with the name of the island. But then again, Putin a bar would be the Russian thing to do
You're right about the Soviet Union not signing the Treaty of San Francisco in 1951, however 5 years later in 1956 Japan and the Soviet Union signed a Joint Declaration which ended the state of war and established diplomatic relations between the two countries. The declaration didn't solve the Kuril islands dispute, but it ended the factual state of war between Japan and the Soviet Union.
“Tromp, who shouldn’t have really been in charge and doesn’t have the proper knowledge was at power” Hmm, sounds like another person with maybe.. a different vowel in the middle? Huh. Makes ya think.
The flag he used for Holland (Netherlands) when he was mentioning the 335 yr war was actually the flag of Luxembourg (🇱🇺). *THIS* is the Dutch flag: 🇳🇱. I get it. They look similar, but idc.
There was this war during the Napoleonic ones between a Spanish city (Huéscar) and the whole country of Denmark, which everyone forgot about until the war declaration was found in 1981. The peace treaty was signed the same year and it is still the longest war fought by Spain and no shot has been shot. You could do some research on it, it's hilarious how everything happened.
15 countries at war with Japan without realizing it? This is even _more_ interesting! I mean, before I saw this comment, I wouldn't have thought such places as Ukraine or Armenia would be at war with Japan! If Russia and Japan would sign a treaty on which part of the Kuril Islands should go to who, thereby ending World War II, I wonder if the other old republics should be invited to the negotiations?
Oh another one is when Japan was at war with Montenegro, because Montenegro declared war on Japan during the Russo-Japanese war, but during the war Serbia annexed Montenegro, so when Montenegro became independent about a century later, they, being the legal successor to the Montenegro that went to war with Japan, so had to sign a peace treaty with Japan in order to establish diplomatic relations.
As soon as Russia transfers the islands under Japanese control, and in fact - under USA control, they will instantly put their tracking radar station and medium-range missiles there, which will reach strategic points of the Russian Federation on the North-West and South-West borders without violating the missile treaty short and medium range. These missiles can carry nuclear warheads, which can deliver a nuclear bombs to Russian territory in a few minutes, while tracking and responding to such launches will be much more difficult than launching a heavy intercontinental ballistic missile. In addition, the United States will be able to put a submarine tracking station there in order to more quickly and better track the maneuvers of the Russian submarine nuclear cruisers.
If it weren't for the fun factor, someone might have noted that the Scilly Isles weren't a sovereign state, that the Dutch recognized the Commonwealth as their possessor anyway as the government of England, and that after 1660 the Dutch also recognized the Restoration government of England which was in possession of the Scilly Isles after that, so the whole idea of a separate war between the Netherlands and either the Scilly Isles or just the Royalist faction made no sense anyway. These things just get picked up for laughs. They don't compare to the Kuriles, which is an actual dispute between two existing, real states.
