Why is Japanese denim so expensive? What is raw denim? What is selvedge denim? What makes Japanese denim so special? Why are all these nerds so uppity about Japanese denim? Isn't Japanese denim just a song by Daniel Caesar?

@@TheIronSnail sweet! I’ll send you some stuff. For what it’s worth, I’m also 99.9% sure it’s pronounced (kayten) and not Catin. I have been going there for decades. Sato was hand sewing board shorts in the back of the surf shop there for over 60 years I believe. I was fortunate enough to have a pair custom made by her before she retired a few years ago.

I actually just got a Tanuki Miyabi jacket in a 44 from redcast, I ended up paying like £320 after customs fees in the UK but it is absolutely incredible and worth it honestly

I just ordered my second pair of Tanuki's, and I'm very surprised by how good their clothing (shirts/sweaters) are as well. Usually denim companies don't all produce good additional clothing pieces.

Gustin makes a similar variant of these. Got some on eBay for cheap. See them every once in a while on ebay since then. Only go off of measurements. If they don't list, ask them to measure.

Bummer....waited too long and now Redcast is out of them. I've purchased from Redcast Heritage before and they are great people to purchase from. Shipping was just as fast as ordering inside the states and the owners put a personalized note in with your order. Hope the make a second run of these Homura jeans. Was so exited and ordered these in a size 32, because that’s what the tape measure said based on the measuring instructions on the website. What arrived measured more like a 27 or 28. So if I actually want a 32, then should I have ordered a 38? And does that mean people ordering a 28 have a 22” waist? .. … or did they send me the wrong jeans?

Yes! I got started as a sophomore or Junior in high school. I found that my taste in denim changed over time so the brands that I started out with definitely changed, I started with Jean Shop, now I’m into IronHeart, Railcar, and The Real McCoys

hello Mr Snail, im a recent sub and i have been loving the vids so much. I have a peculiarrrrr request for a vid.. i would love to see your take on undies. you could look at brands like Jockey (my favs), Calvin Klein, Ethica, Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, etc. and compare them to one another to see which is the best build for the buck. furthermore you could compare them to these new online brands like Manscaped and MeUndies that are marketed as more “holds your balls and wee wee in place” type stuff. would love to see your thoughts on it! i bid you adieux!

Note that Naked and Famous also sell jeans with a red weft interior, called Crimson Sky. It is a lighter weight denim though, but the overall look will be similar. With wear the red will show through more, just as white begins to show on regular jeans.

the Ra in Japanese will sound like something between La and Ra. Homura is a three part word so just say each of the three parts together: Ho Mu Ra

when it comes to japanese pronounceations, it's not overly complex, you just focus on pronouncing every consinent vowel grouping distinctly for homura youd pronounce it ho-mu-ra and same goes for 90% of japanese words translated to english, at least from what ive seen

3:04 FFS why are white bois so bad at pronouncing basic foreign words? Japanese is literally pronounced like it's written. its an extremely phonetic language. There are no silent letters or any tricky, ambiguous pronunciations. Homura is pronounced exactly as it looks: ho-mu-ra. Same goes for Tanuki. It's not Tuh-new-key. It's Ta-nu-ki.
