You take Scripture seriously. But you are not to be called rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. Matthew 23:8
In a day when it seems like the Bible is under attack, you’re committed to uphold the conviction that “all Scripture is inspired by God” (2 Tim 3:16). We’re deeply grateful that the Lord always has a faithful remnant who refuse to remove the “ancient landmarks” (Prov 22:28).
These deeply-held beliefs have led some of you to raise an understandable question about Rabbi Jason’s title of “rabbi” in light of Yeshua’s bold directive in the Gospels: “you are not to be called rabbi” (Matthew 23:8).
In this brief talk, messianic Rabbi Jason Sobel illustrates a significant point: apparent contradictions are opportunities for deeper learning. Rather than evade, Rabbi Jason tackles this reasonable question head-on, with wisdom and grace. Was Jesus a Rabbi?

I've looked at it as Yeshua is the highest teacher, Father God greatest Father. Go to Jesus, God, Holy Spirit first or for things you can't go to men for.

"You know how Yeshua said 'Call no man Rabbi?' well he didn't mean it..." 🤦🏼‍♂ "There's actually a secret, hidden meaning behind it that only I, a rabbi, can explain to you." 🤫

Isaiah 22:21 "In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your sash on him, and will commit your authority to his hand. And he shall be a *father* to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah." In this passage, "πατὴρ" (patēr) is the word used for "father." Matthew 23:9 "And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven." In this passage, "πατὴρ" (patēr) is the word used for "father." The use of "father" in Isaiah shows that the term can be appropriately applied to those who serve in roles of spiritual leadership and guidance, as long as it does not overshadow the recognition of God’s unique fatherhood. This understanding helps reconcile the two passages, indicating that Jesus' command in Matthew 23:9 is not a universal prohibition against the term but a reminder of the preeminent fatherhood of God.

A man can be in a position of "Rabbi," but you are not to call him "Rabbi" when addressing him. It's simply to keep him humble. Any man who DEMANDS to be called Rabbi, such as Greg Hershberg of BYI for instance, is full of pride. A man in the position of "rabbi" is no greater in the faith than those who are not in the position of "rabbi." You are not to call any man on earth "Father" (in the religious sense) while on earth. Calling your biological father "Father" is not the context of the scripture. It's meaning religiously, like how catholics address the pope, etc. Pride is everywhere these days, even in the churches, it's sad.

Lean not to your own understanding and in ever way Acknowledge him and he will direct thy path! We pray and listen for understanding then he talks! No!! stop lying saith the lord thy god!! This is man wanting to be God!! Your Rabbi your father! You will never be my God, which is in heaven which is in heaven!! That is blasphemy!! The Bible tells you to seek your own soul salvation!! You only gather amongst saints for strength!! The testimonies!! That’s how I know the truth from a lie because it is written! Let everyone be liar, and his truth will stand! You will be a follower in the stands!! That’s how you will tell the game from the real, because the words have I held in my heart so I won’t sin against him!! I’m still learning, yet how can you get a close relationship with the father learning from someone that want to be your master, aka rabbi aka father! There can only be one! Seek your own soul salvation!! It is only with him!! The title will tell you the fake author!! That is the truth!! Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and all these things shall be added!!! Put not your trust in no man!! I can’t stand you for this!! Until the times of the genitals are fulfilled!! His people are every tongue and every kindred!! Only for the elect!!

You're a liar, that's exactly what he said~! "But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted." (Matthew 23:8-12 KJB)

1st Corinthians 4:14-17 1st Timothy 1:2 You have two options. You can assume Shaul of Tarsus, St Paul, was so unaware of the faith he was martyred for that he somehow forgot not to call himself father to his flock, despite the God he gave his life to telling him otherwise, or you can admit that Jesus was making a rhetorical point, and that, like many parts of both the Bible and everyday conversation, it was not meant to be taken literally. If I said a car flew down the road, would you imagine it propelled itself airborne via the laws of aviation? No, you would understand that it was an idiom, and that I was communicating aspects of the car's locomotion in a figurative way. Luke 18:19 Acts 11:24 Did Luke forget about only God being good, despite having written it down himself? Or is he implying Barnabas is part of the Trinity? Of course not. He understood the context well enough to know Jesus meant something deeper. Only God is true good, and all others are measured in comparison to Him. It is truely God that teaches and fathers us, though others may share in that role on Earth. If you've ever called someone a doctor, congratulations, you've called a man teacher. Doctor is just a word for teacher in Latin. Ever called someone a magistrate? Once again, Latin for teacher. Sensei? Japanese. Also, if you've ever referred to your male parent as Dad... Rather than take the verse out of context, and try to force a hyper-literal interpretation onto the text, you should try figuring out what He actually meant: God is our one and only, and no one comes before Him, and He will humble those who exalt themselves.
