In 2019 Dean Ambrose left the WWE to join AEW and become Jon Moxley and has never looked back since, and while Dean Ambrose’s run in WWE was good overall, his final time spent in the company may have left a very sour taste in his mouth. Many factors played into why Dean Ambrose wanted to leave the WWE and today we’re going to talk about them as well as his last year and in the WWE which is also his worst year in the WWE, let’s get into it.

The Shield went on to effectively conquer the world of professional wrestling. They are all multi-time world champions, they're all Grand Slam champions, they're all major draws wherever they are, they're all doing arguably the best work of their careers, and they all consistently deliver high-quality matches. I really hope they are all 5-10 or more years away from hanging up their boots, and that sometime down the line, they get the chance to reunite one more time. In a perfect world, they would main event WrestleMania in a triple threat match with world title gold on the line.

I disagree on the "buried" part. In wrestling whenever you're leaving the company or retiring, you start handing over jobs to upcoming stars or other guys. Even though some losses were still questionable.

The Dean Ambrose character up until the very end was an all time favorite for me in WWE. He never missed a show, he was the Ironman of that company. The Moxley hate is strictly from tribalistic fans that miss Ambrose, and you can’t change my mind on that

Moxley *put that company on his BACK during the pandemic era.* I'd argue that without him, AEW would've been lucky to have come out crawling and scratching post-pandemic era. Ambrose was great during the initial Shield run, but once they split off, it almost seemed as if WWE had no idea on what they wanted with his character, with the "Wacky" stuff being such a huge turn off that diminished his character, imho.

Also, I definitely need you to explain how the "Wacky" Ambrose stuff was such a turn off, but every other Moxley match being a brawl or hardcore match (where he's usually bleeding) isn't? The Moxley character is essentially a parody of the Ambrose character, pushed to absurd extremes, for anyone who isn't drinking the kool-aid.

I like Ambrose better. The moves were more interesting and the mussed up hair was a better look. Moxley feels like CZW trying to grow into ECW while living with AEW. I suppose the association with Yuta, Bryan, and Claudio and Regal is interesting, but the matches themselves aren't anything to write home about.

When Dean Ambrose returned in 2018 we were all excited but in the coming months he turned heel and started wearing a gas mask and getting shots and other crap it was so bad. But his contract came up and he went over to AEW and never looked back. I really hope that we get one more Shield reunion before they all retire

I think he'll show up for the induction the same way Billy Gunn did for DX's induction, but I don't think he's going back. He's got enough money, his wife is in AEW, he's basically sponsoring Billie Starkz, and he loves deathmatch wrestling which WWE won't let him do cause PG. No real reason to do an actual return.

Question now is whether the Shield reunite in WWE or AEW. Look, I know both Rollins and Reigns have great runs in WWE, but the thing is that Reigns is winding down his career given his reduced appearances (which makes sense, given his health issues over the years), whereas Rollins' current contract expires next year in 2024. I am still unsure if Rollins' heat with CM Punk is legit, but considering that Rollins had walked out of RAW before, Triple H is treading a thin line with managing his roster. If either man walk, you know Khan would jump at the chance to sign both of them, and the thought of the Shield reuniting in Jacksonville is probably Khan's wet dream to give Triple H the biggest middle finger possible.

@@orlandowright2323 Yeah, 2/3 of those names did come back, but the remaining 1/3 is either dead, moved onto better things, or etc. Mr. Anderson, he's not coming back because of his absolute hatred towards Randy Orton and John Cena, and as long those two are still in WWE, Mr. Anderson isn't coming back. Val Venis, he's not coming back because based on what I heard, he's a Neo-N*zi, and you know how companies are with N*zis and Neo-N*zis now a days, so Val isn't coming back. Ryback, well, he's pretty self-explanatory. Not sure why with the others, but those three are for sure not coming back.

Call me cynical, but I know Khan would jump at the chance to sign Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns if both are available, even in the event both men are no longer in their prime condition. Look, I know both have said they are "WWE-lifers", but so did Chris Jericho, and he ended up in AEW after being screwed over by WWE management. I remember his WWE run, and it reminded me a lot of Randy Orton's: he'd have peaks and valleys where fans would go from absolutely loving his shit to getting buttmad at how "boring" he was in the ring. I guess they hated that in WWE, he kept doing the same few moves over and over again -- especially his signature rebound lariat. Then again, the terminally-online fans also hated Randy's draping DDT AKA the "Vintage Orton." I don't really watch AEW so I don't know if he still does that move, and if Internet fans are still mad about it.

Rollins was my favorite Shield member until Ambrose left WWE to become Moxley in AEW & NJPW. I recently watched a video documenting the rivalry between Moxley and Hangman Page and it was better than I remembered. It was such good sh!t.

Mans carried the 2nd largest wrestling company in the world to immense heights. Sure the Shield was great in WWE and will go down in history, but seeing Mox be at the forefront of a revolution of western wrestling, bringing deathmatch wrestling back to the brink of mainstream, you can make debates about which is higher quality, but he made waves in AEW that he never could in WWE.

I like Dean ambrose. I couldn't ever get in to AEW. i tryed cause a lot of people i like wet there. I understand more why he left it has been a big thing about WWE not using their talent properly and they have lost a lot of people over it. I contemplate every day leaving my job cause of management stupidity but the problem is the next job will just be the same it is everywhere. I have 6 jobs 4 that had stupid management and the 2 that really didn't the company lost the contracts and I ended up having to work for someone else withe stupid management. But they are just doing what they are told also if you think about it.

I wouldn’t say in the near future, he should return because he’s in his prime right now and having a heckuva time but I would hope and his later stages of his career he makes his return back to WWE which is cool if he doesn’t return for the next five or even 10 years, just hope we can have another reunion as of all the other countless names of wrestlers we thought would never return back to WWE but finally did including cm punk but yeah right now would not be a good time to retire, but hopefully within the next 10 years he does

I like Moxley more than Ambrose tbh. And I actually like the blood part but even I think he's gone too far with that. Ignoring the blood part, he has the potential to become hot shit again and with the talent he has, he can become Stone Cold. I just believe that AEW needs storylines just so wrestlers like Moxley, Jay White, Keith Lee and Swerve can become the hottest thing in AEW and not the goddamn Elite and Jack Perry trying their best to fill Moxley, Danielson, MJF and Joe's shoes. I always thought that Moxley's hatred of his Ambrose days was more because of Vince's creative decisions rather than hating the company itself. With Hunter in creative control, I hope Mox isn't reluctant to work with the WWE and I seriously hope that the WWE opens the forbidden door more often.

I think Moxley is best as a mixture of his AEW and WWE personas. His in ring work was more controlled as Dean Ambrose, but his character is better as Jon Moxley. He can actually wrestle, but he loves the CZW style too much. That stuff would work in the attitude era. But not so much today.

The dude came off as very disinterested and bored, especially during his wwe championship run, they gave him the top spot yet he was one of the lamer champions of that time, you can say that wwe wasnt giving him much material to work with but id argue they gave him just as much if not more than what they gave any of their top talent yet he did nothing with it and blames the company for his own lack of effort while people like AJ styles were the highlights of most shows when they were champion around that time, the stone cold podcast is another example on how he was being given great opportunities but he refused to put in any effort to do anything with those opportunities

2016 Dean Ambrose was peak Jonathan Good. He never felt more like a main event guy than at that point. His gear was better, he had the perfect blend of humor, seriousness, craziness, and scariness in his personality. AEW Moxley, just cuts good/great promos and bleeds. I’m not a fan of his wrestling in AEW.

I totally understand why the guy hates the E, they tried to bury him alive in his last six months there. “Dean Ambrose, Germophobe” was recently inducted into Wrestlecrap for a damn good reason. Mox was never really a good fit for the E to begin with, he couldn’t be molded into an obedient company man who would do anything he’s told like Rollins and Reigns were. He thought for himself and couldnt be manipulated. And The Old Man hated that, as did Hunter and Steph. All three of them had it in for Mox for a long time and did their damndest to humiliate him on his way out. He was absolutely right to leave and go where he had actual freedom and reasonable creative control over his character. He was booked like complete shit in WWE for several years, after all!

Some womans in the company like Tamina and Nia herself are visibly strong and could take on someone like Dean on a genuin and serious 1-on-1 match. Peak Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose was his time in FCW. He got steadily worse in the ring over the years. I thought he was a sloppy worker and goofy mannerisms in and out of the ring. Fast forward to AEW, he is awful now. Blades every match. Acts like a fake tough guy. I think he’s just an idiot at this point.

About Seth, he has certainly become like Roman, hated as a face but loved as a heel. Moxley actually worked out both as face and heel in WWE.
