The Korean movie and music industry can be incredibly toxic, often exhibiting troubling practices that can be hard to comprehend from a Western perspective. It's shocking how these entertainers, who are human beings just like anyone else, are treated by both the industry and their fans. No adult should have to apologize for forming personal relationships. These artists deserve to live their lives freely and without undue pressure or scrutiny.
Doesn't look like it. Fans come across to us in the west as very similar in our adoration and respect for these artist but that is not the case at all, they're lives seem to be very controlled by these fans. That's not right ,they should be allowed to have separate free lives away from their work its all very sad and quite disturbing.
The root cause of all this drama is the ridiculous amount of toxic people online and in society in general. This happens all over the world but it’s way more prevalent in Korea. There’s something very disturbing about it there. Someone’s private life belongs to them…
Not just So. Korea. That sad situation of the Japanese figure skater, Yuzuru Hanyu, who had to divorce his wife after 3 months due to harassment from the media and public. There's also Princess Mako of Japan whose now husband was vilified in public for years.
@@bones5785 example.. Karina and Wook, the mass hate came from the Japanese and Chinese fan, that was so crazy and on top she apologize and ended the relationship.. heart breaking.
Dear Korean fans, Please keep your crazy fanaticism and hate in your closets. Don't bring it out in public and don't put it out there on the internet. Instead just tell the world how much you loved the actors latest work and move along.
At this point, I won't be suprised if they stop announcing all together about their partners, and I would support them for that. Who tf wants to be cursed at every step of their lives? And why do the fans even care this much? I can never wrap my head around their mindset.
Yeah. I gave them the benefit of the doubt cause in someway they help some of the celebrities who were wrongly accused of things they didn't do. But this part of Dispatch activities is just disgusting.
@@cvyyjg exactly.. That is why I kept excusing them before, but they have become more vicious with the dating scandals, I don't know if it's because a different team handles that part or what? but they have surely messed up people's relationships and carries, and that is just not cool.
The public are crazy. They’re living their lives vicariously through these celebrities. Get a life of your own. Do something meaningful, like volunteering to help people in need. If you’re obsessed with the lives of others, you need to examine yourself.
Probably happens only in Korea. We watch celebrities because of their work, not because of their love life.Who cares who got married, who are together, who separated, who cheated, etc etc 🙄 and then decide to stop watching their works because we disapprove of their private lives ???
Why can’t Koreans fans and management just let people live their lives? The entitlement they feel towards celebrities private lives is so disturbing and delusional.
I didn't see anyone calling Lee Hyori a Jealous Ex, all I saw from k-netizens was them being sympathetic because of the possibility of her gettinh cheated on. I cannot stand people assuming other's sexuality. Truly. Saying a straight person shouldn't be able to play a gay character is ridiculous, specially in places like South Korea, people really expect SK actors to be brave enough do be out of the closet AND really think companies are out there finding out people's sexuality to get them roles? It's ridiculous. Also, it's like saying gay actors can't play straight characters. Imagine someone saying Jonathan Bailey shouldn't play Anthony because he's gay.
The problem seems to be two fold: 1) allowing children/fans to dictate the private lives of actors being actors, playing roles that have nothing to do with themselves. 2) the industry of adults allowing the public to dictate to the industry and actors instead of standing up & BEING the adults in the room and stopping this. I’m an American. We don’t have this here. We pay to see their work. Their lives are their own.
Exactly.... I feel the Korean actors and agency are also contributing to this nonsense too by giving in to fans. Fans dictate how they live their personal lives
I have said this before that this doesn’t happen in the west. Divorced today forgotten tomorrow. Look how toxic SHK fans still have hate posts about Song Joong Ki6 yrs after the divorce!! They nasty
This is waht makes Korean social media so toxic on the side of celebrities. They always live on the approval of their fans instead of moving on with their lives. Fans are too iqusitive dang it.

Americans find these situations with Korean actors weird. That these actors and actresses can’t have a love life or just get married without being hated is just bizarre. Koreans fans seem terribly prudish.
As a Kdrama enthusiast Having all this toxicity is ruining the talent and works these actors have shown. That including the KPop industry. We all know that these people are also humans. Why the hate? Koreans who engage in such behaviors need to see a psychiatrist. People around the world are watching how FANS or AntiFANS go thru lengths just to destroy actors and Kpop talents...please stop.
All I can say is how sad it has to be for Korean celebrities who have to have the approval of their fans before they can marry...and in many cases when they do, their marriages are demolished by jealous and hateful fans. It's so hard for me to comprehend how selfish these fans are who claim to love these celebrities.
Choosing not to marry is a deeply personal decision, one that is often met with societal expectations and pressures. However, it is crucial to recognize and respect the autonomy and individual choices of those who decide to remain single, even into their 30s or 40s. One of the reasons to respect those who choose not to marry is their courage to deviate from expectations. This decision reflects a deep understanding of oneself and a commitment to living authentically, even if it means going against the grain. There is also a growing recognition that not all marriages are successful or fulfilling. The high rates of divorce and marital dissatisfaction underscore the fact that marriage is not a guarantee of happiness. For those who have witnessed the challenges and complexities of married life-whether through their own experiences or those of others-the decision to remain single can be a conscious choice to avoid the potential pitfalls of marriage. It is important to recognize that happiness and fulfillment can be found in many different forms, and that each person’s path is unique. You can forge a loving relationship outside the confines of marriage.
People outside of SK need to understand that being gay there is very, very difficult. And there is maybe one openly gay idol and I can’t think of one openly gay actor. For the record, the number of actors who are gay and play straight roles is legion…so the outrage from the community is terrible misplaced. As for the young people…it is a game of hide and seek with the paparazzi and knetizens…I feel sorry for them. I hope this changes soon and they can date and fall in love in peace. As for the Song-Song thing…SJK’s PR worked really well up until the moment he suddenly announced his marriage/impending fatherhood. The problem has not been the marriage/baby, the problem is that he was actually responding to netizens/tabloids himself instead of letting his PR machine handle it. (Let’s not even talk about how he allowed the media to accuse Kyo of having it on with Park Bo Gum…**he waited to deny it** who was supposedly his friend and that it almost tanked PBG’s career, PBG could luckily could go in the military not too long after that and that enabled the public to let it go). His messages since his marriage have been …well, self pitying and refusing to take real responsibility for his actions. (As a woman his comment about not getting work because he is married and has children was almost insulting. What actresses have to go thru to get back to work is insane…starting with getting all the baby weight off and also seeing their “romance” quotient go down. This doesn’t happen with men…Ryan Gosling had two children when he won his Oscar and was considered insanely sexy). He has also chosen to be an ex-pat (and his sons won’t have to serve in SK military by being Italian citizens) which is his right…but seems counter to making his career thrive. I guess you choose your poison but….the idea that he could get work in the UK…that industry is very inclusive…of people from the UK…I watch a lot of Brit TV…but…hmmmm. He is neither an action star/martial artist (which seems the only way to achieve stardom in Western movie business) nor has he shown he can speak English that can be expressive (the rhythms and musicality sound wrong to me. Take singing lessons is my advice). I dare say I will be proven wrong tomorrow…and I hope I am. Kyo has shown that her talent and beauty is dwarfed by her resilience and the love of her fans and her friends. I honestly hope SJK can grow up and find his best self.
thank u for being objective and sharing ur sources. I learned a lot. I feel like people need to stop reacting or taking on paid opportunities in doing negative PR work and do their homework before sabotaging one's hard earned fruits. Shameless!!
Ask yourself. Would you want a marriage with a k-drama actor? Just imagine just ONE of these could be possible: severe narcissism, wobbly self-esteem, high maintenance, him going out with the guys or staff and what that entails, vicious fans threats, high risk of having shady offers such as seduced, getting drugs, gambling, getting fooled by bad business, demanding relatives.
you forgot about all these professional good looking women available for a small fee. Check videos of Korean scandal on internet. Most of these women are more beautifull from k-drama actresses. Most of straight actors use professional services. They are not looking for love and relationships. This is why most of them are single in their forties. They do not want to share their hard earned money and loose their creepy fans. Large number of fans mean big endorsments and money. They do not make enough money in k-dramas but endorsements is the big part of their income. Korean and Japan have a huge sex trade. Finding girlfriends is risky. They are open to blackmail.
These fans live in a fantasy world where they act like the movie they are watching is real life. They are in need of mental health help to establish reality from fantasy. They become so possive over the celebrity to the point of toxicity. I can not believe that the industry allows this and does not shut it down. The fans are the ones that are embarrassing Korea.
It seems like Korean celebrities are living their lives for their fans. That's embarrassing. The actors needs to live their life freely and don't give a damn about what the fans says. They should have an association that fights for them against cyber bullying from fans
People just don't get it! Actors and Actress do like all of us, work. Private Life means exactly that PRIVATE! If you dated you would know, sometimes It's a hit or miss , very normal thing to happen. The heart wants what the heart wants and no one should make rude comments or act like your going with them and break up, meaning ( You boy cott them from bringing us their time, talent and skills to entertain us on the screen.) Give me a break! Get a life. Stop acting like you are their Mother. Idols are human beings too. Stop judging their Private Life!
C horrible.
That's why I APPLAUD ACTRESSES LIKE Seo Hyun Jin who keep their lives off the media and only appear for televisin interviews and filming of dramas. Coz what is in the Korean entertainment industry?. This wis all crazy.
I don’t think many people understand or for some who frankly don’t even care that even though actors/artists/etc live in the spotlight they’re still only human, I can only imagine how daunting living like that must make you feel as a person.
wow these actors need to stand up against such viciousness, this makes me really angry how the media and animal fans think they own people and their private lives, real sick and disgusting behavior, where are the actors human rights??? seriously! the government needs to step in and protect these people
I really dont watch Song Joong Ki before Descendants of the Sun.I think he became popular after this drama. I watched this drama coz of the female lead. I really love Song Hye Kyo dramas😊
😂 don't give credit to her just because they are divorced . It was sjk who attracted most of the audience. Shk was just a stiff actress, she got so many criticism for acting
I‘m personally cheering for Lim Jiyeon and Lee Do Hyun. They‘re 2 of my fave actors, when their relationship was announced I thought what a great match they make. I just hate how it was again Dispatch who followed them and published photos of them on several dates, so they had to make it public through their agencies. I really hope their bond is stronger than the public pressure to constantly share details about their relationship and that the press mostly leaves them alone.
I think this is absolutely crazy, I am glad that anyone I follow or whose music I enjoy ,I wish them a happy life and feel that it appears that Korean in particular are really fierce, and very unfair. Please please think of them, it's their job, and we just get to enjoy them. Let them have a life
I think he ruined is own carrier by himself, he way of divorcing using the web & the press was his own doing , he acted like a spoil child & surely not a man. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, marriage did not cost you’re carrier, you done it all by yourself, trying to get sympathy, but it did not work out. Sorry. 🇫🇷🇦🇺
Hi This information is so sad to me. This is truly so unfair. Actors and actresses have every right to have a relationship with whom ever they want. How is it that the some of the korean fans become so judgemental. Please stop please stop. Man or woman want a partner, children This is called a family of their own. PLEASE LEAVE THEM ALONE. INFORMATION LOIKE THIS IS SO HEART BREAKING.
After viewing the facts on this video, it is my opinion that he is not a “difficult actor” but rather a professional actor who will never let a script nor pressure from outside sources determine his next project.
Dispatch is garbage for going against the wishes of celebrities. Stalking is disgusting! They don't care whose lives they ruin. Celebrities are people too!
This just shows me how terrible South Korean fans and others are in judging and making a big deal with celebrities having relationships. It's their private life for crying out loud and I don't know why the hate and backlash and penalizing celebrities for having a relationship or getting married. What fans/neticitizens did with Lee Sun Kyun is despicable. Unbelievable how awful people are in wrecking people's lives and how sad Korean celebrities how to go through this crap!!!!
Does this only happen in Korea because in the United States some fans act crazy too but if they truly care about one another they live their personal life happily
Fans can be toxic and crazy, but for sponsors, brands, producers etc to be swayed by them and actually take work from performers THEN SUE THEM even when nothing has been proven, THAT is the biggest mindf*ck for me. It's ridiculous to give so much power to nameless, faceless, angry & possibly unstable people online. To ruin someone's career and life over an unfounded rumour is inhumane and barbaric.
Some people are so unhappy with their own lives until they don't want to see anyone else happy. Jealousy and Envy are two of the most dangerous moods out there. Why can't they just be happy for them and wish them well. People need to grow up and stop being stupid. All those haters out there should get hate back. Payback is hard.
I really feel for anyone involved in the Korean entertainment industry, entire careers ruined over literally nothing whilst so much abuse of stars goes unmentioned - nobody should have to apologise for what they do in private, consensual relationships.
I think there needs to be some kind of reality check for the so called fans - the actors/celebreties ow them nothing, if they are fans they will enjoy the work and yes males may indeed devlop some kinds of 'feelings' for female stars and females for males etc HOWEVER, the chances of them having any feelings for the fans as individual as much as they may appreciate their support for the work they do get a grip at best this is the stuff of teenage idol worship but once real life and real people who they could potentially actually have a relationshiip with (the 'fans' that is) then surely that idol worship and fantasy relationship fades into the background. The only thing I can think is there is definitely something disturbingly missing in the lives and characters of those who actually think they have the lsightest chance of even meeting the celebs other than brief interactions at fan meetings etc certainly not enough to develop a relationship that is delusion at best. On the other side the celebs need to be able to go out on dates etc without having to travel halfway around the world where few people would recognise them and even then wear masks and be somewhat disguised juts in case someone snaps them on their phone and the whole of the kdrama lunatic fans go berserk. it is utterly incomprehensible that this is allowed to go on it is bullying at extreme levels verging toward insanity in the way these so called fans behave at airports - where they should not be allowed within shouting distance of the celebs, to all that crap whereby if they given them 'presents'usually a load of old nonsense teddies and stuff that is no use to anyone and again so juvenile then they go absolutely crazy if they somehow don't act as if it is the best thing they have ever had and make like they'll treasure it forever. These are fully grown adults they do not have room to keep all the crap fans sen or give them if it is any good at best if they give it away or better yet set up an auction and raise money for poor people/orphanages/single parents etc etc then the 'fans' should be glad cos peple will probably pay megabucks for things that are not worth much but they have gained worth because the celebs have 'owned' them for five minutes. The agencies, authorities and the law needs to be changed to protect these guys that bring billions of won/pounds/dollars into the Korean economy every day let alone year and get treated like the public property of these monsters who claim to be their fans. The situation with Lee Jae Wook and Karina was absolutely disgusting, they owe no one an explanation and they deserve their privacy so the fact that they stopped dating is an absolute disgrace. I hope the dispatch photographer suffers the same thing
Wow this seems so sad. I mean at the end of the days as humans. People deserve to be able to live as they please no matter the profession. The product belongs to the fans the person is still free. To make such talented and beautiful people lose the best years with out the ability to settle down and live a full life is obsessive and narcissistic on the part of the fans. And to be further ridiculed after driving the talent to apologize for just trying to live the life they work so hard to earn is shameful. K pop and k drama is an immerging market fans there need to be more flexible with the talent there. Let people live full personal lives. The talent should stay respectful but shout unapologetically live their individual truth out loud and public. Teach people how you want to be treated and call them out respectfully when they error is human nature.
The only correct statement is, "I will not apologize for having a personal life. We are both consenting adults. True fans will be happy that I have found love, and they will congratulate me. Anything less than this reflects on the authors of the hateful statements, not on myself." The more that I learn about South Korea, the less that I am interested in traveling there. The actors and idols are *NOT* bringing embarrassment to the country. The toxic KNetizens, and SK media, that are building up social media lynch mobs are what repulses the world audience. To then boycott shows, deliberately hurting other actors and crews, is just extortion controlled by the big media conglomerates, PRfirms, as well as the corruption of authorities that use celebrity scandal culture to distract the citizens from what is really wrong in that country. Admire actors and idols for their talent. Attacking them for attempts at living normal lives is delusional, and sometimes illegal. Of course, those same toxic KNetizens spew platitudes, "we should have protected them," when the hate becomes too much for some. Shame on all of the haters, especially the malicious ones that are fomenting chaos for clicks, ratings, and cash.
This is all so crazy. Japanese funs can be equally horrible or worse. Yuzuru Hanyu, two times Olympic gold medalist and World champion in figure skating actually divorced to protect his (non-celebrity) wife from harassment by fun and gutter media😢
Wow, more fans who don’t understand that actors act and sometimes they can fall in love with their co stars. Sometimes the marriage or relationship works and sometimes it doesn’t. I understand that Korean standards on morality is high, however people including actors are only human. The other sad side effect is even less Korean children.
That sucks for Seo Woo but tbh it would of been harder for a actual gay actor to be playing a gay character. At least he stepped up for the role since bl/gl dramas are a new thing in kdramas

No, they divorced in 2019! It is just her team and crazy fans that publish this garbage to make her look innocent! I would like to know why all her relationships blow up? Do you think she might be crazy?
SJK’s son is 1 years old in 2024. SJK and SHK were married in 2017 and were married less than 2 years. If his wife was pregnant before the divorce she would have to be pregnant for 4 years.
Who are these Korean netizens against dating or marriage? Why they feel entitled to owe the lives of their beloved celebrities? That’s crazy. Hollywood don’t give a shit about
Koreans need to get a grip from what is real and what is merely acting. They need to allow entertainers to have a life outside of their job. I mean, apologizing for dating?! Sadly, I don’t see this situation changing anytime soon.
I love them both so sad, but if they broke up because of work thenthey really did not love each other that much , I think they should of fighted for their love , fans get over it. shame on fans , no one tells them who to date
Okay this proves that these folks are fans but want to control the people who's job is to entertain them. And that is it. Just entertain. Their private life is NONE of our Business!
Sung Joong Ki made it Public. This is not a Gentleman's way of doing things. He did wrong and caused Both Women to look bad. One is labeled a Mistress and the other a witch. Not a kind thing to do. All to save himself from looking bad . What a Coward! The Best Thing , was to keep quiet like a Gentleman and keep it Private. We know who took the Hi Road? The True Lady you divorced . The Best to the other Woman who loves her Fake Gentleman . Please advice him to just stay quiet and be a good husband and father.
This guy has nothing to complain about. He announced the divorce while she was out of the country, leaving her hounded by media as soon as she landed back in Korea. And because he announced it first (and because she is a woman lets be honest), the public proceeded to tear her apart, coming up with one wild speculation after another. She literally did absolutely nothing and was branded the wicked witch. He's a cowardly weasel divorcing her when she isn't in the country and then not stepping in to quench the hate she gets. He's barely announced the split and suddenly introduces a new woman and they are also expecting. Lets be real, he was already seeing her while still married. Loser of a man.
He definitely is in the wrong. But why does his career have to suffer? Also why does he still have to hear backlash from something that happened in 2019? He’s a great actor and it’s sad that we can’t see him on the small screen anymore. If he was American no one would care about his personal life.
What a sad life... They should just let people live their own lives outside work... A lot of actors from other countries can date whoever they like, they can portray a certain role they like. They can be gay in the movies but straight in real life. Nobody cares. It's sad that this happens in their country. I hope Cha Eun Woo will find his true love...
The root cause of this is they are to exposed for some reason Chinese Japanese and South Koreans seem to think that been in touch with there fans is mandatory. Western artists do NOT so this. There has to be a boundary or the bottom line of acceptance. No where is more illustrated of how dangerous it can be is their arrivals and departures from the airport. The artists are not adequately guarded. If you did that at any other airport you would be arrested. No one has the right to dictate someone else's life. Who are they to tell others who to date who to marry or even be friends with. It has nothing to do with them. There has to be a bottom line for everyone and attacking and stalking is illegal so stop doing it
OMG. Fans in Korea needs 2 get a life . These actors r real human being. And have real life they don't need fan`s approval for who they date or marry . Their real life is not a k drama pan out for u 2 c or 4 approval.
