Shanny seized the main chance, which was the pass, and Garoppolo just fell a few inches short, or rather, threw the ball 5 yards too far on the back-breaker attempt to Emmanuel Sanders, who got open behind the defense. As a KC fan, I've seen many a game reduced to whether our QB would make the big play in the big moment, and been disappointed. I've heard the complaints about "But Marcus Allen was averaging 5 yards a carry! Why'd they decide to have Bono air it out? Idiots!" But the fact was that the other team had sniffed out the run and taken KC's measure, and were daring them to throw. They just failed to execute. You've gotta take that dare, and live with the consequences. Sometimes coaches just don't get enough credit. Sometimes they get too much. But in my experience, 90% of "failing to make adjustments" boils down to not having the personnel to adjust WITH. Andy Reid's fallen short at the end many a time, and when I look at the one time he didn't, I see speed ALL over the field, and mismatches everywhere. I also see guys healthy, and a lot of slack, a lot of options. In years past, Andy barely had the people to trickerate himself to the playoffs. This was the most loaded team I've ever seen him with. All too often, coordinators land head-coaching gigs, because they're fortunate with personnel decisions over which they have zero control.

This, absolutely. I remember being terrified of Henry before we played him in that game because all the analysts had talked about all year was how bad the Chiefs run defense was. After we ended up stopping Henry cold, I knew we were ready for a Super Bowl against any team the NFL could throw at us.

They saw they might not stop SF. So they held even more. And the refs just watched. Everything else aside.. that one advantage made a disguised, but clear impact on the game. Niners held too.. of course. But not nearly as much as the chiefs O-line. Watch the film in slo-mo. It’s obvious. Watch closely because its very fast. If you know what to look for you will see it. It buys those extra 2 seconds for the QB to scramble away. It’s not complaining. I’m stating a fact. Players regularly get away with holding much more these days. It’s bullshit by the NFL. If not.. Watch where a ref goes up to a guy on the sideline, in a close play and the ref says “it was clean”. Did the ref not know enough to see the call? Was the ‘guy’ not on the chiefs sideline? Why didnt he have any ref uniform on if he was in any way involved in game decisions. Watch it again. The money and ratings have become more important to good football play. Making it to one superbowl in general is incredibly difficult, regardless of how you fair when you play the big game. Shanahan dropped 28 points on a Bill Belichick defense (pretty darn hard) and then made a couple of bad play calls that you could definitely argue cost them the game. This year he was sensational throughout the entire season, and called a quality game in the super bowl. He said after he reviewed the 28-3 game there are definitely calls he would have changed, this time he says there isn't a single one.

It wasn't called, because that wasn't roughing the passer. Roughing the passer is only called when a defender makes illegal contact with a QB after throwing a forward pass. The defender can still make contact if he has possession of the ball during a forward pass, or if his momentum carries him Into the QB. Niemann was charging full steam at Garrapolo, and hit him less than a second after releasing the ball. His momentum 100% carried him into Garappolo. If you want to argue the helmet to helmet, that's only if the defender leads with his helmet, or gives 100% proof of leading with the crown of his helmet. Niemann was bull rushing, which means he doesnt even tackle the QB, he power shoves him. Theres helmet contact almost everytime someone gets bull rushed. Cry about it.

On 4th and 10 Kittle was wide open. Jimmy should've focused on him and make him his primary target since that's their best receiver. This way Jimmy's reaction time becomes much quicker which means he'd get the ball out of his hands before the pocket collapsed. Mahomes really didn't do anything, the momentum changer was the Travis Kelce PI, it was really Damien Williams and the defense who won the game. Mahomes just threw the ball up and Tyreek Hill somehow found a way to be open in that area.

Everybody gives up points to the Chiefs in small runs. Every single game they play they find a wrinkle and blow it open. You have to be able to keep up. Shannahan called the right plays, but the team didn't execute. And 7 of those points where when the game was over.
