@@thomashoyle1935 put him on the hot seat after Tebow and his entire class left. He went 7-5 in 2010 and retired from Gainesville. The news will tell you he had heart problems. Everyone knows Gainesville has the championship or bust mentality.
If you really look at it, we’ve been a pretty schizophrenic program. I’d say 2012 we had a team good enough to win the national title. I’d say 2015 the same until we lost our quarterback. 2019 we were very close outside of a great game against one of the best teams of all time. 20 2020 team couldn’t keep its shit together. Then aside from those it’s been these crazy bad 4-8 5-7 Types of records lol
@@Gators1216 yep! He knows how Gainesville is. You think he forgot about you guys when Tim Tebow was beating him at Tennessee. We know Lane don’t fuck wit Gainesville 😂
He will not leave Ole Miss for Florida. Has total control and a massive NIL budget at Ole Miss. Not so at Florida. Florida is where aspiring coaches go to get fired in year three.
I bet my yearly salary he’s floridas new coach next year ole miss is and never can be capable being a top ten team year after year like Florida an when it gets going so don’t cry when he leaves 😊
@@PhilipColbert-w2g Have you been following CFB??? Lane has built a top 10 program at Ole Miss. No one wants to coach the Florida Gators unrealistic expectations.
"I hesitated doing this segment....for about 5 mins...and then saw RM say something so I knew I needed content right away I need content, content conteeeeeeeent.". Class act, bro.
Lane has a great life at Ole Miss. He has all the power. He is the toast of the town. He gets whatever he wants. Well, that is except one thing. He will never dominate college football at Ole Miss like Saban did at Alabama. That's possible at Florida. He can build a dynasty at Florida. I don't think he can at Ole Miss. So if he just wants a cushy life winning 9 or 10 games a year, sometimes making the playoff, once in a blue moon winning a natty, then maybe Ole Miss is right for Lane. Of course, if I was Lane, I would almost take your comment as an insult. What are you saying? I'm not good enough to coach a dynasty? That I am some lazy fat cat sitting on my horse with no aspirations or drive? That I would settle for less than pure domination. How dare you!
@@WCworkhorse The way he got Ole Miss now he can consistently make the 12 team playoff. Why would he go to Gainesville and rebuild at a high expectation program. Ole Miss will never fire Lane!
@@brandonbarnes9681 You're right. But as I explained, he would leave Ole Miss to try and create a dynasty. See, I don't think Lane thinks the way you do. You're the type that would be satisfied with just making the playoffs every year. I think Lane wants to win a National Championship every year until he dies. I think he never wants to lose a game EVER. I think he wants to beat every team including Texas, Georgia, Alabama, etc. 100-0. Saban has 7 nattys. Lane wants 20.
I have to push back on your "murder mystery" principle for coaching hires. Most head coaches who've won championships recently were their schools' #1 choices : Nick Saban (Alabama) Kirby Smart (Georgia) Jim Harbaugh (Michigan) Urban Meyer (Florida & Ohio State) Jimbo Fisher (FSU)* Bob Stoops (Oklahoma) Mack Brown (Texas) Steve Spurrier (Florida) *Yes, even Jimbo. He was Bobby Bowden's hand picked successor, and was named "head coach in waiting" at FSU, remember?
If kiffin accepts the job,Florida will be back pretty fast, Yes, his recruiting classes Don't look exceptional at ole Miss,But he's getting way better talent in the state of Florida. If he is the coach of the gators every good athlete in the state of florida is coming to the gators, And honestly, I. Have already heard from somebody pretty close to the organization that it's pretty much final and he's gonna be the highest paid coach about fifteen sixteen seventeen million a year
why would lane take a step down job & have less money to work with? He already has everything he needs and ole miss is a national title contender. This isnt 2004 anymore.
spurrier was that villain type of coach, just like Lane. The difference between ole miss and UF is the talent pool he would have access to in Florida. uF needs to get back into Muck city!!!
@@Chasing72 as far as SOS and lane. The only thing comparable is the way Spurrier would troll Bowden and other coaches at times. As far as coaching goes not comparable. The video mentioned are we prepared for what Lane brings. Spurrier was that guy. He gave zero fucks
@@flnative7553 Good points and, maybe I’m biased because it was our coach (Meyer) that Lane was trolling. Still, SOS gave ZF but he was mature in going about his business. I’m still not convinced Lane is.
@@Chasing72 Trust me when I say this... I am not a lane guy at all. I watched tons of football with Monty he was a genius. I always believed that Lane lived off his dads success. But now the UF program is at the verge of never returning to its former glory. The only guy that fits right now is Lane, even with his sketchy past, UF has to take a chance because looking for the next possible long shot coach isnt something that UF can do anymore. Even if it was their own doing. Administration has really screwed this one up over the years and Now we are Nebraska 2.0
@@flnative7553 I won't disagree with you on him living off Monte's reputation. But, your comment regarding UF now being at the verge of never returning to our former glory is specious. UF had its "heyday" from, roughly, 1990-2010 and the rest of the time we've be fair to average at best, just like the vast majority of schools. The pendulum always swings and is never static. We're down now, but we won't be that way forever.
From what I hear Strickland is not getting a say in the next coach and he's out at end of December (i don't know the veracity of those statements) but the next coach is coming from the boosters not admin
Lane at Florida would 100% being top 10 classes. Mullen brought in Top 10 classes and he didn’t give a shit about recruiting, all it takes to recruit top 10 at Florida is some success on the field.
Lane has total control, top 10 highest paid coach, fully embraced by the fans and university, top 10 NIL, expectations are high but he won’t get fired for two straight 7-8 win seasons, he’s also proved he can win at ole miss. Don’t know why he’d leave.
Uh--you forget the team he left (Oakland) went to the superbowl the year after he left, and then he beat his former team in that game. Dominated them really.
@@wesleygary6651yes because they didn’t change his playbook so the defense knew exactly what they would do, now look at the rest of the time he’s been a head coach and look how that pans out. He’s never been a college coach or done any recruiting, it’s not an easy transition not to mention he’s over 60 already
I disagree. It’s not so much the Florida brand it’s more about the talent in the state of Florida. We all know the ceiling is much higher at Florida than at Ole Miss .
@@jpb588 What is available in the portal the next go around for $500, Alex? You're assuming the available talent won't be as good and/or Lane won't be able to reel it in again.
IM NOT ONE OF THOSE GUYZ TO HAVE A DEBATR U GOT YO OPINION I GOT MY MINEZ IM A BAMA FAN ND GEORGIA SMH DAS WEA MY HEART IS BUT I LIKE LANE ND FLORIDA JUSS NEED SOMEBODY LIKE HIM
Here are some names to make a simple point: Steve Spurrier, Phillip Fulmer, Kirby Smart .All former players, all won natty's with their alma mater. Is there no former Gator great to coach UF? I'm a Dawg fan so personally i say keep Napier for a few more years. No need to pay that mongrel any buyout money. No talking buffoon on TV or the Net even mentions this. Spurrier was a QB, they had high-flying offenses. Fulmer was a O-lineman, Tennessee had a great running game and stout defense. Kirby was a safety.....and does anyone in the country doubt that UGA has consistently the best overall defense in the country? 2021? Hell--spurrier's son has been a coach for years now. Give him a call
A lot of this is based on absolutely nothing based in reality, dude. Yeah, Kiffin hasn't recruited top 10 classes at Ole Miss. That's because he's at Ole Miss, you recruit the state of Mississippi and if you want elite talent you have to travel way out of your way to do so. UF is smack in the middle of the state of Florida, Urban Meyer said it best that you can find all the talent you need within a 300 mile radius of the campus. Kiffin knows he can't win a national title at a place like Mississippi. He knows he can do it at Florida. Any good coach can because the infrastructure is there, the recruiting is there. These media types that are trying to say that the Ole Miss job is somehow better than the UF job simply don't like UF and I'm convinced of it.
See all the media saying Lane wouldn’t go to Florida or how it’s a bad fit? Thats how you know he’s coming. They don’t want him at UF, goodnight for the rest of the SEC if he does go
The stronger the Lane rumors become the more turmoil in Mississippi there are going to be. I hope by the time my UGA Dawgs get there it has become quite a quagmire.
Rece Davis is a Bama alum so him saying Florida and Ole Miss are the same isn't a surprise. Its not true though and everyone other than a Bama homer knows it. Everything else you just spouted is nonsense. I suppose you think we should hire Mark Stoops. SMH.
@@collinmooremagic6843 oh yeah? What has he done there, go ahead I'll wait. You're clearly the most casual a casual can get spouting nonsense like that.
I think Kiffin's reliance on the portal is by necessity rather than choice. I think if given the option he would much rather be more balanced on high school vs portal talent. FSU is a cautionary tale. High school gives the continuity and cohesion, portal fills the gaps. It's easier for Ole Miss to portal good players in who are in their final years and hungry to get into the NFL. High schoolers care more about other stuff like staying near mom, the logo, etc. So it seems natural for balance to shift back towards high schoolers a bit more if he were to change schools.
This guy makes no sense. Lane creates excitement and wins. He raises the profile of the team. Relates to players very well. You mean like he surpassed expectations year 1 at ole miss.
Reece Davis saying that it’s a lateral move has to hurt the ego maniac gator fan… ouch I still think he’s an option when you write enough 0s on a check.
If we could just combine the attitude, drive, accountability of Will Muschamp with the crearive playcalling of Dan Mullen, wed be set. As frustrating as Muschamp's offenses were, we had a killer defense, amazing recruiting, and accountability withjn thr team. He tried making changes at O coordinator, just chose poorly. The rest of thr staff was top tier.
It’s way easier to recruit the highschool level at FL. FL is a hotbed of talent. The facilities, brand, fanbase and resources are among the elite of Texas, Georgia, Bama, LSU, Ohio state etc. The fact that Lagway could be sitting there waiting on him along with skill players that are criminally underutilized by Billy all he’s gotta do is build the Line and retain young talent who’s there. The admin has played this game of hiring up and coming potential and their patience for bad football has run out and the fanbase is ready to erupt at a glimmer of hope. Our stadium sold out after back to back losing seasons we just need a proven winning coach who is an offensive culture fit to take the wheel. It could be Lane, I’m on the Lane train but I highly doubt they’ll go with Gruden.
If Florida offers Kiffin everything he would want and says no, then he's not serious about winning a national championship. No offense to Ole Miss fans, but there's a reason why that program has never played in a SEC championship game and hasn't won a national title since the JFK administration. If he's comfortable with finishing 3rd in the conference every year and not getting beyond the quarter final of the CFP, then good for him. But if he's got that competitive desire to be up there with the likes of Kirby and Dabo as multi-time national championship winning coaches, then he should roll the dice and go to Florida. Plus worst case scenario is he'll get fired before the end of year 3 and get paid over $30 million not to coach. 😂
Winning makes anyone fit. Sabam had no ties to Bama. I hate when i see fans and administration say they have to be someone with ties to the school. At Bama we did that for 20 years and guess what we sucked. We went with an outsider and we became the standard and dynasty.
I’m a Florida fan and I really don’t think he’d be a good fit unfortunately. I think people are just wanting a quick bounce back. Kiffin might be able to do it but nothing is guaranteed. The Florida fanbase would turn on anyone pretty quickly after the last 5 coaches. Idk, if I were Kiffin there’s no way I would come to Florida.
Unless Florida "backs up the Brinks truck," they will NOT land a "proven" power 4 coach. Even then, I am not certain there is one that will want the job. Fans have unrealistic expectations. Before Spurrier, Florida had no SEC Championships (okay, there was one in 1984, but it was taken away. The one in 1985 did not count). They entered the conference in 1932. So, no championships for 52 years! Fast forward to 1990. They earn 8 in 19 years and include three nattys. That is exceptional. Then, it was back to mediocrity. The gators, my alma mater, had 19 good years. This is not a storied program of sustained success over multiple decades. They had two good ones out of 9
JC We can stomach it. We have “endured” awful for far too long. I love On3 content and your rationality but it’s almost intentionally contrarian to extol Billy Napiers virtues when he is unquestionably the worst coach in the history of my beloved school and I wish him removed from our beloved sideline because he’s simply incompetent.
It's a mess from top to bottom right now and we're in danger of slipping to a level that makes football at Florida a distant memory. The issue goes much deeper than the coach. Interim President, AD that can't hire a winner and a UAA that seems accepting of being bottom of the SEC. It's a mess right now. The Florida of old is no longer in existence and a vision, plan and chapter has to be put in place. Will say Stricklin has done a great job building new buildings though. Think rather than a new coach the first step should be a GM of football operations needs to be put in place to bring stability to the program. The names everyone keeps throwing around wouldn't be on campus until January/February timeframe. Heard the name John Gruden linked with being interested and TBH he checks a lot of boxes. He is also available, just not sure how he would handle the recruiting piece. That said, dude can coach and understands the NFL aspects of the game. In all kinds of weather, GO GATORS!!!🐊🐊🐊
When is the last time Ole Miss won a natty? Lane would be great at Florida but I’d be afraid he would leave Florida for Ohio State if they lose to Michigan again. Myer all over again. Just want to win again and be relevant. We need a proven coach not an up and coming. Caliber for SEC has to be excellent.
And if he got an offer from Bama and he didn't take it with what Saben left talent wise I don't think he'll take a lower team in Florida unless they offer him a ridiculous amount of money
Florida is a tough and unattractive job. In a tougher conference than 2 P5 rivals. Now have UCF P5 and USF on the brink of P5, then FAU & UNI decent programs. Those other 4 programs take away from recruiting unlike 20 years ago. Florida will have a hard time finding the right coach for a long time.
We are gonna go with the safe boring pick. We suck and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. We need to go all in and say whatever it takes throwing caution in the wind. Look at the great Miami teams and the urban days at Florida he did what it took to win. You can’t win with the safe approach
I just got full custody of my daughter away from my ex wife… if Lane Kiffin goes to Florida, I will be almost as excited to welcome him to Gainesville as i was winning the court case.. Kiffin is our guy!!
Please stop with he isn't going to get you a top 10 recruiting class. Talk about old school. I'm so sick of hearing about who is good and not good at recruiting. No matter how much you want to say that recruiting is not about the bag, it's a all about the bag. Guess what J.D.? If I pay you a billion dollars, you'll do whatever I want. Everybody is about getting paid unless you can guarantee them a spot in the NFL which 99% of colleges can't do.
