whats up slimy pube, just moved up to a 2012 daytona from a 300 ninja recently, big fan of your channel, hit me up if you get down here in new zealand!!
@@yammienoob It's a free for all. Lines on the road and colours on the signal are merely suggestions, not rules, for most people. If You can safely ride a motorcycle here, you can ride one anywhere.
Put deth machiean on paper and smile while brapping between cagers. If Deth comes it cheats the bank. You don't care, cause deth. Bank don't care, cause FED. Win-win.
A friend who used to spew lots of "California sucks" crap finally took his own advice and moved to Texas. He was back in California in 3 months, out of money but wiser for the experience. Now that he has had the opportunity to experience living in the Lone Star paradise, he whines a lot less about living in the "Golden State." California has a strong economy, good paying jobs, lots of public land that's open to motorcycles, better than average weather, no hurricanes or tornados, decent fishing and miles of stunning shoreline and sandy beaches. There are many reasons why it is so much cheaper to live elsewhere. You're probably right though Rafael, you wouldn't like it here. 😛
Checking in from Utah, it will be nice for starters having the filtering. It is on roads 45mph or less posted speed limit. Rider to stay under 15mph while filtering. On roads with 2 or more lanes of traffic in same direction. So not all roads. But at least it is a start. Hopefully people will get used to it and understand that it needs to be expanded to include in stop and go traffic on the freeway. It’s funny though that Utah doesn’t even require helmets, but they are adding this law to increase safety for motorcyclists.
Hey clammy fumes I have a video idea. How’s a bout you make a video on some motorcycle companies that prevail in other countries and are unheard of in the USA
cherrypieforever eh wouldn’t call them crappy, personally own a pulse adrenaline and tbh I’ve gotten 70mph out of it and honestly, £650 for a 15 plate bike I can’t complain 🤷♂️
When filtering it pays to be very aware of a couple of things. In actual traffic jams car drivers are more likely to open their door, (to get an idea of what's happening ahead). It's quite difficult to prepare for someone suddenly opening the door, but they will often give a sign - look for seat belt being removed. They may already look quite animated in their car. When filtering in general, look at the front wheel of vehicles, and gaps appearing - it's an early sign of someone making a maneuver - if wheels turn into your path it's likely that someone might be about to change lanes. Also, try to look at mirrors - people do usually look before maneuvering, although it DOESN'T mean that they've seen you. Above all - take your time, ride respectfully, be very aware and ride defensively. If it looks in any way risky, relax - an opportunity will probably arise soon enough. Lastly, this might sound stupid but you should be very aware of the dimensions of your motorbike - don't squeeze your way through. ✌️
From what I see quite a few states are changing their stance on this issue and passing legislation legalizing it. Some are regulating speeds and or circumstances. That might be hard to mitigate for officers or us as riders
I don't think it will be so bad for the cops. It isn't about going after the guy who is flowing through without incident, it's about having a clear standard to charge the squidmissiles for being triple dumb when they cause problems.
iam 17 and i drive a 1/2 ton truck and everytime i see a motorcycle i go to the other side of the road because i dont like getting near motorcyclists for their safty and mine😂
paddy duffy learn the language man it's such a game changer. You really don't have to but it makes it so much easier. Embrace the culture, go see sights, And just enjoy it. Traffic is ass though. Unless you have a motorcycle. Visit first though for sure
I got pulled over for splitting in San Antonio and the cop ultimately let me go but said he could have taken me to jail for 5 counts of reckless driving. I was going 10mph through stopped traffic.
@@NathanH172 its still kind of important to be made legal. California also used to be the same for a longtime where it was just tolerated but it was never necessarily illegal. Making it legal helps other people understand that you're legally allowed to do that, and therefore, protects you from people trying to intentionally get in your way or open a door. In fact, its illegal in California for drivers to open their doors. It would just need to be something that should be pushed to state legislatures to pass and make legal.
in utah lane filtering on roads (not freeway) when all traffic is stopped with a max speed of 15mph. I think this is the only safe way to do it, lane "splitting" is dangerous and filtering is only to help with traffic, and to prevent bikes from being rear-ended by texty drivers.
Just got a 200 dollar ticket for filtering at a stop light. Let's just say I'm not stopping, I don't like being rear ended and the times I don't filter, I've had to make emergency maneuvers 3 times in the past 5 months
I'm not sure europe as a whole is the biker's paradise you think it is. You've ridden the chaos that is London. If you're out in the sticks (hi there) then a substantial number of drivers aren't used to riders filtering. Outside of cities in the north that have many motorcycle commuters i get actively blocked a lot. I've even had a qualified driving instructor try to door me and tell me filtering is illegal. Her franchising chain did not appreciate the helmet cam footage and were most apologetic.
I don't want to split through traffic while it's mobile, but I would like to filter through stationary traffic at a light or in a backup. I don't like being at the back at the mercy of people who forget to pull their face from their phone.
Right there with ya bro. Once upon a time I was at a red light, 2nd position, and there was a car behind me in 3rd position. I didn't time it to say how long we were stopped, but basically a full cycle of the light.... And sure enough, when the light turned green and the guy in front of me had just let off his brake, I got hit from behind.... If I hadn't been there, she would have hit him, so really none of it makes any damned sense, except to say I would have been safer splitting, as decades of splitting have proven.
I've been taught by my mate that the best way 5o filter through any traffic here in the UK is at least 15mph or lower depending if the traffic moving or not.
My understanding is there's a difference between filtering and splitting. Filtering here in Australia is where the traffic is stationary you can travel at up to 30km/h between traffic (2 lanes going the same direction) to get to the front of the queue. Splitting appears to be whilst traffic is moving (possibly slowly) which is not legal in Australia. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but you could be booked for it.
Make a black or dark grey (or a rainbow of other colors) t-shirt with the yammie noob helmet symbol. Better use decent quality t-shirts tho. And don't charge $25 each. $20 tops.... or at the very least... 1 for $25 and 2 for $40
Yes it is legal now in Utah, but nothing like it is in cali. In fact its a joke as the cars must be stopped. So really this will only be useful at a stop light to skip to the front in traffic. Its so fun to ride on the freeway in cali compared to all the other states.
In CA it's necessary with the large amount of traffic

I'm so disappointed at how the brazilian motorcycle culture gets ignored on these videos. It's not the latin-american India. It's pretty big, diverse and a lot more fun than US's and even Europe's.
Papa yam should be running for president in all of the 7 continents of the world. Motorcycle is the answer for traffic and global warming. #yamforpresident #presidentforallcontinents #2024 #busasforlife #lanesplitting
Good to know. In Germany for a short trip, live in NL. Have been standing in line like a braver Junge up till now, feeling quite unsafe in some situations.
Same in France. Not officially legal, but as long as you don't do it like a douche, nobody, even cops, will say anything. It's "tolerated" when done properly and safely.
i like that last do's and don'ts about the paint not sure about the rest of the world but here in Canada they now changed the laws for environment on paint uses we can now only use water based paints (used to be oil based) in fact they dont even sell oil based anymore here... anyway the point of this is oil based paint is well oil based and thats not fun under my 2 wheels when scraping knee
Have you ridden in Britain? Pretty sure we have been filtering (as we call it) legally the longest, since dunno, 1870 or something with bicycles and horse carts. We have few rules but one of them (Davis vs Shrogin 2006) is that car drivers /are/ supposed to move over and get out of the way, although few of them know this. Likewise they are responsible for that car door, but a biker has to allow for idiots. And the are places you're not allowed to filter (various road markings). Recommended speed differential 20mph through slow moving or stationary traffic, not flashing between vehicles already doing 70-80mph on a motorway, unless you want to become an accident statistic. In England filtering is legal because it has never been made illegal, in the USA you have to repeal various laws. Convincing each state that the rest of the world is right and they are wrong is going to be as much fun as getting you to go metric or use Celsius like everyone else.
At the minimum, bikes should have the right to filter to the front with a "bike box" at the front. Just like England. Also the minimum should allow bikes to filter in heavy, slow traffic. I don't know about you but I'm not willing to melt in the summer heat moving less than 10 mph. That is just pure punishment.
so Yam, what do you recommend in states that it is not explicitly illegal? In North Carolina there is no law that makes it illegal, but cops can apparently get you for reckless driving. you think it's ok to filter at red lights?
When I traveled in Us on a bike I was surprised of how many frustrated car drivers were pissed of when I was simply driving a bike as it is intended I.e. avoiding unnecessary queues
I've been riding bikes for 20 years, and have well over 30,000 road miles. I love watching your videos, they're informative and a great way to waste time until I can get back in the saddle. Thanks for all your hard work. Yammie Noob 2020.
Ey I'm a noob rider from Belgium and motorcycle population here is exploding. THERE ARE 3 TIMES MORE RIDERS THAN IN 2017! Because our country is dense af emissions and traffic jams are main political issues here.
I spent a summer in San Diego and it changed my life lol. I live in Indiana and I don't dare split lanes here except cheating to the midline while stopped at a red so I have somewhere to go.... Not bc I'm afraid of a ticket but bc I swear someone would purposely knock me over. Not the most motorcycle friendly in my area. When I talk to people about this it's frustrating bc everyone just pictures the crazy jokers who do it at 90mph. Even in california, the motorcycle manual did not recommend splitting over 35mph or with a speed difference of more than 10mph... You can definitely still get a ticket for reckless driving haha.
Hey off topic here buttttt if you’re looking for a monster food bike for cheap AF the 2004-2009 SV800 is AMAZING talk about ability to corner and the acceleration is by far better than any other bike I’ve rode hands down....look into it baby yam yam 🍠
5:55 the thing wrong i see is that you spelled it 'busas, but the correct spelling is BOOSAs. i know this seems wrong, i know that the correct term is hayabusa, hence the "busa" but i promise you Boosa is better. it just is. it rolls of the tongue better. when you see a man squidding out on his turbo AND nitro suzuki hayabusa, popping a dank wheelie, and when you hear him yell: "i'm a mothafuckin boosa boi!!!!", do you think he spells it "busa" in his head? NO! he's too busy being a 43 foot long Architeuthis! if you think he has enough brain cells to spare to spend the 3 seconds to remember how hayabusa is spelled, subtract the haya, and then say it like that, you're wrong. those 3 seconds are the difference between where he is now and a mile ahead. yes, that's 1,080 mph. do you think that's enough to stop him? NO! he has been honing his craft for decades, no CENTURIES. he could dodge a bullet shot from point blank. nobody is more of a squid than him. are you wondering what he's wearing? you know goddamn well that he's wearing a damp white t shirt and black, thin shorts. is he wearing a helmet, you may ask? picture him in your minds eye and ask yourself that question. is he wearing shoes? sandals, even? no. every cell in his body is focused on how fat his wheelie is. by now you know that when he says boosa, he spells it like it sounds. he's a fucking boosa boy.
Have been a car driving for two decades and only recently started to ride a motorcycle daily (in my country Malaysia, scooters, moped and big bikes are all classified as motorcycles), I used to be irritated with motorcyclists lane splitting, could also due to being a bit jealous that they could cut through the jam while I was stuck, but now as a rider, I absolutely agree with you on the safety aspects, though that comes with saving time as well; not all car drivers are motorcyclists but almost all, or at least most, motorcyclists are car drivers as well, I feel like car drivers can have lots of blind spots and get distracted, and that is dangerous for us riders, getting away from cars as soon as possible is a necessity. Fortunately, lane splitting is legal in my country. However, I know of impatient bikers who want to ride fast, faster than they should, that could be the reason why car drivers get irritated with motorcyclists. I'm generally a moderate rider, I ride slow when lane splitting, don't want to scratch people's vehicles or bump into a car that didn't give signal, and yeah, also a lot of our bikes are air-cooled, not good getting stuck in traffic with cars.
If people respect other rider and obey the law, more motorcycle and less car would be good. Try riding in country where more than 50% road going vehicle is motorcycle, and the people don't really obey the law, like Indonesia, or India. You'll get pissed really quick.
Since I live on California I can split all I want to...BUT I'm kinda of a wuss because I don't take many risks splitting. When I do split, it's always just a little faster then traffic around me...
It is legal here in the Netherlands but the ammount of time I still get people to honk at me is pretty dumb. Just butthurt people stuck in traffic that don't care that you can pass them legally even if it is raining like crazy. Some even block the fucking road with their stupid expensive cars (usually a nice mercedes or bmw) with nice airco or heater while you are just standing there baking like an egg or freezing your nuts off.... people just need to stop being jealous or just get a bike themself!
I am from atlanta GA. Otherwise known as the land of constantly changing lanes for absolutely no reason ALL the damn time. Ok rear end accidents down, what about bike accidents overall in CA per rider since they started. I know here, those cagers would intentionally cut you off if they say that coming. Its like a freaking hobby here.
DO, continue to use your mirrors while filtering. DON'T, attempt to filter through a gap smaller than your bike. There may be a rider on a skinnier bike, or a more experienced filterer behind you! :)
Why would any motorcycle rider want to carry a “wallet” that would dent or scratch their tank if accidentally dropped on it? I mean, there is a lot of fumbling around at the gas pump, so why take that kind of chance?
Hey yammie I’m going to be getting my first bike soon I checked in the state of Missouri if it’s illegal and it’s not. Now I’m not sure about the county’s. I’ve only checked lawyer websites so if I’m wrong it’s id be fine being told.
This is the reason Belgium will allow you to deduct a motorcycle from your taxes if you use it for commuting to work. Because of the results of multiple research firms all saying 5% more motorcycles instead of cars would reduce traffic by 40ish%. That being said, this is the most dangerous period for lanesplitting. Winter is just over and drivers havent seen many motorcycles for a while now.
In texas. If you arnt going 85 down the shoulder or darting through traffic you're usually good. Plenty of times traffic has been at a dead stop and I'll just hit the shoulder and cruise at 25 ish past cops. Not one cared. Alot of random people get salty tho
I split in Houston. You gotta do it here. Frapping nightmare trying to get around otherwise. And people are chill about it usually. I only split when it’s at a standstill. Those derps splitting at 80 out in Cali are just begging to get smoked.
The first 2min if your video is nothing but advertising like I didn't just get done watching an advertisment before clicking this video. Find a way to may your intro shorter. Seriously .
In germany it's allowed as long as it's summer and you are stuck on the Autobahn. But the police doesn't if you are in urban traffic as long as you are chill and drive slowly
While I'm big scaredy cat and you'd probably scare the shit out of me, as long as your responsible and your not gonna take off my side mirror, have at it fam. I sure as the shit ain't gonna make it to the front of a line, so one of us gotta. Plus I don't wanna see you squished or your bike fucked up because people are rude or just not paying attention.
Dear Yammie Noob, i'm all for lanesplitting but holy shit its just as dangerous as sitting in traffic, i'd just say do it at your own discretion. my bike got written off literally last week because i got hit by a turning car in traffic while i was splitting, he wasn't indicating or using his mirrors, and unfortunately thats just the cager way. With this in mind its way safer to sit in traffic where you're right in front of them in plain view or right in their rear mirror, which is more likely to get checked. i guess my point is that eating a car door hurts like hell and wouldn't say its worth splitting where thats a risk.
Yes the climate changes, however what actually causes it is still up for debate. There are possible causes like emissions but these sorts of quick comments can trick people into thinking things like the new green deal or pushing for no fossil fuel usage is a 100% science backed good idea as opposed to viewing our existence on a more holistic level. #imforlanesplittingthough
