Lebron maybe getting slower but he is also getting wiser with age. He knows his body isn't the same as it use to be but he is adapting to it by becoming a floor general. Becoming a point forward will increase his career in the NBA and he might play until he is 40. Kareem took care of his body and mastered the sky hook. The Sky hook let him take less abuse because he didn't have to jump very high, which was easy on his legs. Lebron is also taking care of his body but just like Kareem had his Sky hook, Lebron has his passing. Lebron doesn't have to smash the boards like he used to and often plays outside the paint until he is sees an open to the basket or an open player.

I remember Bron's first SI cover when he was in 10th grade. He had been highly scouted for a while by then and there was this great Danny Ainge quote in the article. To paraphrase: "there's only maybe 4 or 5 current NBA players I wouldn't give up to get Lebron James on my team right now." His reasoning was that beyond his obvious physical gifts, he was already a virtuoso passer by age 16. I definitely agree that his game will age very gracefully because of that.

The only people that care about longevity stats are Bronsexuals. But even they dont really care otherwise they'd have Karl Malone in their top 10. Its just that that's really the only thing Lebron has over MJ so they have to bring it up because they have no answer for 6-0, 5 MVPs, 6 FMVPs, 10 scoring titles, 3 steals titles, 9 times first team all defense, DPOTY and first all time in damn near every advanced analytic. When Lebron hangs up his sneakers for the last time he'll be the all time leading scorer and amongst the top 10 in almost every category. @@Youngster543210 Jordan played 15 seasons and only made the finals SIX TIMES. That means HE LOST 9 TIMES before the finals. So Jordan is 6/15 for championships, but didn't even give his team a chance in 9 of those seasons. Lebron made the finals 4 more times than MJ, and is still looking to get more rings. Also, Jordan never beat a team when he was the underdog, Lebron has won two championships against superior teams, and has only lost once when they were the favorite. Jordan lost when the other team was better, and won he had the superior talent on his team. Lebron has actually won when he has been the weaker team. That being said Lebron will always have to pay for his Mavericks performance, even though people point out he had two hall o' famers around him and they couldn't win two games when Lebron had a slump. @Youngster543210
@Youngster543210 3 года назад
@@orclover2353 Everything you mentioned is a team accomplishment/failure. I dont determine a players individual greatness on team successes. Bronsexuals seem to do that though. But to address your points. I dont knowmif you're aware of this but in the NBA playoffs there is a 16 team, two conference bracket system. Making the finals doesnt mean you have the second best team in the league, it means you have at worst the 9th best team in the league. Every playoff team in the other conference could be better than yours and you could still make the finals. Hell, even the teams that missed the playoffs could be. Lebron's Cavs made the finals in 07 playing against two teams with a less than .500 record. They then got swept in the finals. The best psrt is Bronsexuals admit that those Cavs had no business even being on the same court as the Spurs lol. The Cavs were the only team the Spurs swept in 07. There were 4 teams in the west that would have dismantled that Cavs squad, the Cavs just never had to play them. In fact, in both MJ and Lebron finished their 4th season with a 50-32 team record. MJ averaged 35/6/7 with 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks on 54 percent shootimg and won MVP and DPOTY, it was literally one of the modt dominanat seasons in NBA history. Lebron averaged just 27/7/6 on 47 percent in 07. The difference is MJ's Bulls played the Pistons in the second round of their own conference, that Pistons team would go on to win the championship the following two seasons. Lebron's Cavs played no relevant contenders in 07 in their own conference. The story was the same in 2014, 2017 and 2018. Hell, the Rockets pushed the Warriors to 7 games in 2018, Lebron's Cavs got blown completely off the court in 4. There was one team in the league good enough to beat MJ's Bulls in 88, 89 and 90, that tram happened to be in the same conference. There were multiple teams good enough to beat Lebron's Cavs and Heat in 2007, 2014, 2017 and 2018, none of them were in the eastern conference. Jordan never won when he was an underdog because teams he was on werent underdogs...because he was on the fucking team lol. Somehow you think thats an indictment against MJ lol. Lebron's Heat were barely underdogs in 2012, it was debatable whether they even should have been. The Cavs won in 2016 by the skin of their teeth after Draymond's suspension and Steph Curry completely choking the series away. Lebron choked away the 2011 finals. Lebron didnt play well in the playoffs 2014 finals. And once again, saying that MJ's teams were never underdogs doesnt actually make a case against him, in fact it makes a case for him. The Bulls had a +3.6 (average. Below average for a playoff team) net rating and the 14th best offense in the league in 94 without MJ, they had a ridiculous +13.4 net rating (still a record) and the no.1 offense in the league with MJ in 96. And ALL of that increase in net rating came on the offensive end. MJ was the Bulls offense, he won 6 championships with 5 of the 10 lowest scoring championship supporting casts in NBA history. Also, you included 2 seasons of MJ's at age 39 and 40 to help build your case, Lebron just turned 36. If you wanted to make an apples to apples comparison you'd want to compare them through age 35. Anyway, arguing that Lebron is better than MJ because his teams made the finals more is even sillier than arguing that MJ is better because his teams won more rings. MJ led teams were undisputedly the best team in the world 6 times. Lebron James led teams were undispudedly the best team in the world 4 times. Both MJ and lebron led somewhere between the 2nd and 16th best teams in the league the rest of the times, nobody really knows because again, 2 conference, 16 team, 2 bracket system. So yeah, you're going to always frame the argument in such a way to make Lebron look good and MJ fans will always do the same for him. But neither of you have any good reason to believe one is truly better than the other, you just.. believe it, arbitrarily. Its a sort of blind faith.

@@Youngster543210 awards are a joke...jordan could have been MVP every season or none of the seasons because the vote is arbitrary, we all know Lebron is the best player in the league by June at least 14 times...yet he doesn't have 14 MVPs...when he should. All defense is a joke, DPY is a joke... Lebron has consistently been rated at the top as a wing defender year after year when it comes to analytics but poor offensive players are always the choice for defensive awards as if they are somehow better just because they save their energy for defense. Lebron shuts down anybody he guards in big situations, and then takes on the playmaking responsibilities as well. The main difference between him and MJ, MJ needed a perfect situation in Chicago to be created for him to flourish because he wasn't a great passer, and not a super efficient scorer with a below average 3 game...his mid-range game we all know wasn't the most efficient use of resources. Lebron took FIVE different coaches to the final, won with three different coaches on three different teams, with three dramatically different rosters. His supposed Hall of fame stars have flamed out spectacularly without him and the teams he leaves are awful without him. Jordan left a championship team and they still made the playoffs...Lebron left cleveland twice and miami once and they became lottery picks. Best Ever

I wonder where the guy is that was thinking surface level on the other passing video and was acting like LeBron is an average and very overrated passer. TB even used some of the same points that I used when I was arguing with him and it was his ability to pass in any direction at high speeds because of his strength particularly on those drive skip passes. He makes a lot or he did make a lot of these unorthodox passes along the baseline while driving when he was in Cleveland, mainly rifle skip passes to JR, Korver and Love.

he is a good passer, but not a great playmaker, and at the crunch even his passing becomes obsolete, especially against disciplined defenses like GS and Spurs, they simple know the kind of passes he likes and they just close the lanes, thats why whole team movement is way superior, like the Kobe/MJ playmaking, in the triangle system, or the Parker/Tim/Manu system, or the Curry playmaking, these guys move off ball and set screens, Lebron doesn't, hence, outside of the predictable Lebron system he is a bad playmaker.

Another thing I used to notice about how the speed of his passes are a great tool is that speed itself put people in rhythm. When he's surrounded by good and aggressive shooters an innocent reverse pass can become an assist just because the speed of the pass itself requires some feet adjustment frome the receveing player, good shooters can use that feet movement to make themselves in rhythm

@Dotsetc
@Dotsetc 4 года назад
Mike G The best of the league today yea he probably is, but of all time? Being the scoring threat he is in the era of infinite spacing and thus far more wide open shots, I'd vouch for players like Magic, Stockton, Kidd and Bird who might be the most underrated passer ever(might add MJ and Kobe to this too but Lebron over them is fine ofcourse). They actually had to find the tiniest gaps for passes and especially Bird is unequaled in this. The one thing Lebron probably has above anybody is his bullet pass. Its so crazy on point(although he misses them often too, thats fine. Just like Westbrook, high volume great passer tend to turnover some of these passes too). I think that Lebron's ability to lob is actually one of the most underrated parts of his passing. As for playmaker as in pure playmaking skills, hes IMO also not the best of his generation. The ones that are were clearly CP3 and Rondo(Rondo didnt even have a shot so teams could clog his passing lanes which makes it even more amazing same with Simmons who is for the same reason severely underrated). Not here to downgrade Lebrons passing because IMO its the most exciting thing about him as a player, but lets keep it neutral.

Seems that the hardest pass to make is the kick-out pass to the same-side corner if you're driving to the middle from the wings. (So a drive from the left wing into the paint on the right side kicking out to a shooter in the left corner) You're throwing across your body, the ball needs to clear above several defenders, and yet it must land right in the shooters' pocket.
