I have been seriously researching mattress for about a month now. On RU-vid and spending time in mattress stores talking with sales people. I have found many good Websites providing good to great information. But, I have to say that your "simple yet very profound logic makes the most sense", and I thank you for it. When you are about to spend a couple thousand or more $$$ on a mattress you want it to last more than a year(my last mattress). Researching a mattress is time consuming and over whelming and it just got easier. thanks, feeling confident!

Yep. Our Stearns & Foster Plush mattress only lasted a year before the comfort layer went kaput. Lots of little layers.

Yes, you are right! I purchased a $3200 16" beautyrest queen mattress and it was one of the worst purchases I've made. The issue is it's super comfortable for 20-30 mins but then the foam sinks deeper and deeper and gets real uncomfortable. I have to keep moving where I sleep to keep the surface even on the surface. My next purchase will be a 8" tightop coil mattress and a 2" firm talalay latex topper.

@Sssssssslf Год назад
Can I ask why talalay over Dunlop?
@Holabella
@Holabella Год назад
@@Sssssssslf Sure, the two feel different. Talalay has more bounce and Dunlop is firmer depends on which you prefer, Talalay is also better from a allergy perspective because of the manufacturing process, Talalay also is better at staying cooler.

Loved our hybrid latex beautyrest we got back in 2010. Replaced with a cheap foam mattress and I'm disliking life and mornings because I'm sore. Started doing research on mattress underground. Decided to head to a furniture store to find an end table and laid on a $6000 beautyrest that was so comfy but lots of cheap filler foams. Doing more research and finding a small company to buy from. Thank you for putting this info out there!

What about a lightweight sleeper? I only weigh 117 pounds, and my new $2K Saatva hybrid mattress feels like I’m sleeping almost directly on the springs, even though it’s 11” high. Very uncomfortable! They sent me a (firm) 2” latex topper, and it still feels uncomfortable. There is zero sinking in feeling; I’m a back sleeper, laying on top with pressure points in my back, hips, and shoulders. I wake up with back pain every day! Seems like all the mattress reviews are for heavier people, so I’m very confused. Not everyone is 185 pounds!😢

Seems like a memory foam topper might be better for you as you would sink in to it quicker than a latex topper.

I have an adjustable bed (legs and head) and I change my angle during the night. No more back pain. I figured why wait till I have one from hospice!

For people with platform beds, it's nearly impossible to find a less thick mattress. I'm dying for a 7"-9" mattress. I know I'm not the only one. For people with smaller rooms, those thick mattresses make a smaller room feel so claustrophobic. I don't want to have to climb into bed. I may have to get a simple 4" steel bedframe to fit a 12" mattress on (and even that is getting more difficult to find). My other option is buying a cheap 6" memory foam mattress and add a 2-3" latex layer on top. I know it won't last more than a year, but I'll have to keep replacing the bottom part. Just crazy. Terrible to have to toss a tall, expensive mattress with pillow top than sinks in a year or two. Less IS more! Please design a spring mattress for platform beds! Thanks for the video.

At what level of thickness on the support layer does it become too much? I'm trying tondecide between the Birch, 2 inches of latex, or the helix midnight luxe....5 inches of foam. Cheers...love your channel. Also to be fair...the anount of foam layers you habe on top oa obscene....lol. kinda unrealistic

If several mattresses all have the same firmness rating of Medium but they are 9", 11", and 13" what is different about the pressure relief? If all have the same firmness what are the reasons to make them thicker? Do the thicker mattresses sink in more or less than the thinner ones?

Build thoughts on Helix Dawn Luxe, Titan Plus Luxe, Nolah Evolution 15 Firm. All IMO range around 7/7.5 out 10 firmness. Soft on top but supportive. I’m 6ft, 200lb. Combo sleeper (side, stomach and back).

Saw your comment on naplab on the dusk luxe. We have the same build. What did you go for? I have the twilight standard but it's a tad too firm. Got the birch dusk luxe and midnight luxe on my radar. Cheers

Hi There! It’s hard to say since the densities of the foam is not listed on their website. It is an all foam mattress so I would recommend speaking with the sales associate and asking what densities are used in that mattress. 😊

Can a 6” Dunlop latex mattress be sufficient enough to sleep on? Or is that a base layer?

How thick should the comfort layers be?
@Inbal_Feuchtwanger

You only really need 2-4" for a comfort layer, maybe also a 1" transitional layer of foam above the coils.

I really dont get when someone wants a firm mattress and gets a 16" BR black or Sterns and foster. Like you want firm, why are you putting yourself 8" away from your support. If you just like the feel of foam, save some money and get a nice firm foam mattress. It's not just height, too many people think spending more money gets you a better mattress. There are mattresses you can get for $1k that I would trust to last longer than some of these $4k beds.
