Why limit the time-lapse video output quality on Nikon Z 6iii, Z 8, Z 9, and Z f?

Here's something I've always been curious about. With the recent release of the Nikon Z 6iii, I've noticed that this option still hasn't changed!
The very convenient "Time-lapse video" feature inside the Photo Shooting menu has a very limited file format output that I've always thought could be improved.
With an improved video file type like H.265 10-bit SDR or N-Log, we would be able to stretch our post-processing of these files a lot more, thus allowing for a much faster workflow when dealing with non-complex time-lapses.
Is this something you would benefit from?
Do you even use the "Time-lapse video" mode, or do you always just use the "Interval timer shooting" mode?
Filmed on Nikon Z 8 with Z 35mm f/1.8 S
Lighting: Nanlite FS-300B, Forza 60C with attachment, and PavoTube II 30X

You’re right that it’s strange to have these limitations on timelapse in these ultra high-resolution capable Nikon cameras which is why I almost never use the timelapse feature and go straight to video instead where we can get rich, clear cinematic footage in 12-bit RAW

Different uses for timelapse and video, but yes the raw video is sweet!!!

I take RAW or NEF only because then I can print any picture if I want. Never miss a shot.
