Vietnamese spring rolls actually are not influenced by Chinese cuisine, it's originated entirely from Vietnam, because rice paper is traditional Vietnamese cuisine and we had practiced wrapping food with rice paper since thousand years ago. China has eggrolls and dumplings, which was the precursor of Korean mandu and Japanese gyoza, but some people mistakenly thought it also related to Vietnamese spring rolls, but they are not related. Vietnam does have some food that were brought in by Chinese immigrants, such as meat buns (bánh bao), popiah (bò bía mặn), tofu custard (tào phớ), etc.
I enjoy the video clip, thank you. But yeah, nobody knows for sure about the origin of the Vietnamese Chả Giò (or nem rán, as they're called in northern VN). The history of China and Vietnam entertwine so much over thousands of years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%E1%BB%93ng_B%C3%A0ng_dynasty One story has it that the founding father of Viet Nam was originally from China; he traveled to the Hunan region of China and met his lifetime match. His father was, supposedly, a great king more than 5 thousand years ago. Cheers and have fun, guys. John en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shennong
Hmm.. They have very similar rice paper based roll across the border in both Guangxi and Yunnan provinces. Anyway, in ancient history, years ago, the Bai Yue people (100 tribes of Yue ) moved around today's southern China and 1 or a few of the tribes predominantly settled in what is now called Vietnam (Nan Yue or Nam Viet). So hard to pinpoint the exact origin within that large geography. And of course, today's Vietnamese summer rolls have changed over the centuries.
@@JPham1000 Cha nào từ China =)) Hồi đấy China nó là mấy chục nước kéo dài khắp châu Á, sau bao nhiêu lần chiến tranh và cuối cùng vua Tần thống nhất lại mới gọi là Đại Lục (China) bây giờ.
@@thunghiem8270 yeah no body know what chemical from China they inject into these fruits to made them very sweet , or dip theirs vegetables , meat and fish in chemical to keep them last longer . Vietnam is the country with the highest cancer rate in the world cause by toxic chemical food .
Hello Marola and Ali. Charlie from Boston here. I felt compelled to reach out with a positive comment. I was in Hanoi Vietnam, and then far to the north in Sapa in November and December. I was also in Halong Bay. I am a coffee drinker from Boston mass USA. The coffee in Vietnam is spectacular. All of it. I just wish I could prepare it at my home as good. 🤦♂️. I went to Little Italy in Boston of course when I returned because I missed the food. I was in Mexico most of the year so I wanted some Italian food. I had the cappuccino in Boston. I gotta tell you it’s not Italy, but Vietnam is better. 😊. I will get back to your video. I am only eight minutes and I had to agree. I subscribed. I will be back next month for the winter. I will start in Hanoi because I have friends there now .I will make my way down to Danang but I will travel along the coast and I understand there are many beautiful beach destinations on the way I love Vietnam and I think the people are even better than the coffee. Now back to your video. I look forward to more of your videos of Vietnam Have a nice day.
Thank you for the kind words Charlie! We agree, Vietnamese people are great! And the coffee is definitely worth coming for too. We’re happy to share that experience with other coffee lovers. Thanks for subscribing! We’ll upload more about our travels in Asia soon!
Hi,@@marola_ali,It's great to watch your videos and happy about your positive experiences in Vietnam. And if you want to stay in Vietnam longer, There is a very simple way when in Da Nang or Hue is to go through the border gate to visit Laos and come back and you will have a visa for the next 30 days. (can come back the same day or as long as you like). And if you move to the south of Vietnam, you can also go through the border gate with Cambodia to have more time if you want to explore other regions of Vietnam.I wish you the best!!
Enjoy your video. Your statement about coffee is in my opinion absolutely correct. In matter of fact, I would argue that Vietnamese coffee is the best in the world!
Thank you for watching ❤ Who is in the mood for Vietnam now? We're so overwhelmed with all the nice comments guys! We're reading every single one and we try to respond to all of you! Thank you as well for subscribing ♥
I like Italian coffee but think about it. They always make their coffee with the pods which is not fresh. While Vietnamese coffee always fresh makes and delicious. That’s the difference. Thank you and love your vlog.
Hi Marola & Ali Thank you for let everyone know about your first impression in VN, yes it's very cool there , I, from Australia, subscribed your channel right away but one think you're not right: The Spring roll is really traditional Vietnamese food and not come from China, Spring roll from VN has been covered by RICE PAPER ( a unique and traditional Vietnamese food) with prawn and pork mince, carrot...It's totally different with chinese roll been covered by thick wrap of wheat flour
The thing about motorbikes is that they give us a freedom to look around & feel the scenery. Especially when traveling throughout the country with motorbike. Unless we stick out head out of a car I don't think we can get the same feeling with other vehicle.
Marola and Ali, I just stumbled on this video and really enjoyed it. You guys are great and the video is very well filmed, produced and narrated. I’m Vietnamese but have lived overseas for a long time and this video brings back a lot of memories. My family also owned a Honda Super Cub just like the one you rode on when I was growing up in late 80s, early 90s. On your assessment of Vietnamese coffee, I’m in agreement there (but I also have to admit I might be a little biased 😊). Anyway, hope you had a great time. Thank you for sharing your experience in Vietnam with a lot more people.
You should go to Hanoi which is very different from Danang. Hanoi has a thousand-year history, an old town with French architecture, many hundred-year-old trees, many natural lakes, egg coffee, great street food and extremely friendly people.
Welcome to Vietnam especially in Da Nang the best place to stay. It’s safe place. Beautiful beaches and friendly people. I hope you enjoy food, coffee and scenery. Amazing you can ride bike there. I can’t. I see you can use chopsticks very well. 👍
Great video You can get " e-visa" for 3 months in Vietnam renewable ,when 3 months is nearly over you go to Cambodia for example and apply for new 3 month e visa
Welcome to Da Nang. Absolutely loved the motorbike ride, specially hearing the back sear driver say slow down / slow down and I laughed so hard. Amazing the views from the bike. Excellent all around
Thank you so much for watching!! Unfortunately, my visa was only 30 days. But we did experience Tet and that will be the next video. 😁 Love Vietnam 🇻🇳 ♥️ Cảm ơn!
Hi guys welcome to Vietnam! I love that you guys are exploring Đà Nẵng. Hope you guys try lots of delicious foods and try more of the unique cafes they have to offer. Enjoy love birds! Vegetarian food there is amazing!
Haha I truly love you guys. Enjoyed every minute of watching you two in this video. It’s good to see you both happy and enjoying the time you have and also showing us, how beautiful it is there ♥️ PS: good driving Ali😂. Take care you two
Well, I hate to be that kind of person but "chả giò" (aka "nem rán") and "gỏi cuốn" are traditional food that originated from Vietnam. Idk why some Chinese propaganda trying to claim that it's theirs. They also did this to the Vietnam's traditional costume call "áo dài" recently and ofcourse our islands. That's why so many Vietnamese including me hate the CCP so much and we don't really like it when someone else says our traditional things were from China. Great vids btw, I like your narration.
I don't know where you get the Pho but in Vietnam Pho that has carrot in it people called Hu Tieu not Pho. So in Da Nang you can't find authentic Pho place. In Da Nang you can find some authentic local Da Nang noodle and that is call "Mi Quang" and if you go to Hue you can find "Bun Bo` Hue" spicy beef noodles. Pho is originated from Ha Noi northern part of Vietnam then it is migrated down to south and then adjusted to southern people taste which add ton of sugars in it.
Interesting! I haven't heard of Hu Tieu before. We had Pho at different places. "Loving Vegan" was the first place. Our favorite restaurant! We did have Mi Quang as well!
Love your vibe! 😉 sending love from a Vietnamese living in Germany to a Dutch/German couple in Vietnam! Something is not right here! Swap places now! 😂
Veel plezier in Vietnam en be safe!
For sure worth a thing is cheap living cost there. There was a problem like you said that limited Visa 30 days but this year Vietnam has changed the rule to extend period stay in 60-90 days once.
The next thing you need to try different fresh exotic fruits ( not in VN, though). Try cherimoya. It supposedly offer antioxidant properties. Chinese eggrolls are not comparable to Vietnamese eggrolls, though.
There are hundreds of foreign RU-vidrs doing experiences in Vietnam and they receive a lot of followers and support. The two of you might consider doing more experiences in Vietnam. thank you !
Hi ! 😅 thanks for visiting South Vietnam. Hope you guys have an interesting trip 😄😄😄 North VN and South Vn are complete different ! 😄 I would love to see more videos !
You went to the beach in the rainy and cold seasons, you should go there in the summer, many people rate it as Asia's number 1 city beach like Miami or Australia's Gold Coast
It reminded us of those places too! We haven’t been to Miami though. I just loved the beach side, going on a run and seeing dozens of other runners was amazing
It really is great coffee. So we both really enjoyed pho and mi Quang. The noodles in general are amazing. And we actually went to this restaurant that we mentioned every single day. They served amazing food. They had vegan versions of a lot of meals that we liked. Like vegan banh mi- adapted to different sandwiches. They were great. Also the vegan Philly cheesesteak.
I lived in koh phangan 3 months…love that island… vietnam is amazing. Like your video. Ps. Love that motobike. Can you tell me the name of the restaurant by the end of video ?
