Malagasies are most closely related to Dayak Maanyan people in southern Borneo. They probably didn't have the technological capability to sail so far, as Dayaks are mostly inland tribes, so it's theorised they were brought there by Malay and or Javanese sailors. They already have huge fertile land and they can grow any foreign plants that they borrow from the trading.
