Why Marcus Said 'Finally' Before He Was Killed || Twilight Saga 

Marcus is just a sweet old man that doesn’t want to see anymore bloodshed. I’ve always felt for him.

Poor Marcus...Just imagine living centuries of depression all because your own 'Brother' killed your mate just to keep you prisoner for his use. I loved Marcus, a tired soul trapped in limbo...this was the only time I wished that vision was true; like that man was looking forward to finally having his suffering end god damn it!

On top of her death haunting him, I think the fact that he couldn't avenge her also haunts him

I am, shamelessly, a big Twilight fan. I've read the books multiple times and watched the movies multiple time. Aro is really a character full of power lust

Even though I’ve never read the books, but hearing him say that, probably he wanted to be killed so bad. In the end, he is happy that no killing is necessary and that he want peace. And peace of mind.

I always assumed that he had lived so long that he was tired of living.

I still wonder how Alice saw a vision with the pack involved

Aro did care for his sister, yes, but idk if he actually thought she had a gift and was just someone who was just a nice person and the other vampires liked her. Marcus was the original three and Aro wanted to have a united front/Marcus' power was good in battle cuz he could see the bonds of the opponent & could also weaken/break their bonds. The Cullen clan was different since their "vegetarian" lifestyle made them form stronger bonds than a traditional human blood diet. Marcus is what Edward would be like if Bella had died. Vampires in this world are the forever kind, once they fall in love it's forever and when they lose a love one it's a forever grief. Marcus is suicidal but Aro uses one of his members (idr who) to bind Marcus to their coven but Marcus refuses using another member's powers to make him happy.

"I can't imagine what it's like to feel so hollow." I can. Trust me, you don't want to know.

I read the books. Marcus wanted to die, because his wife whom he loved was killed. He wanted death to be with his beloved Didamea.

I feel bad for Marcus Not in a vision but in reality the final movie would’ve been perfect timing for Marcus to finally gotten revenge against Aro who was an ass and I don’t think for a second he didn’t genuinely love his sister

Now... WHY COUDN'T STEPHANIE CREATE A BOOK WITH THAT BACKGROUND AND THEN MAKE A MOVIE ABOUT IT? She really chose to give us a different book that's basically the same thing, just different font....

It looked to me like he welcomed the final, inevitable confrontation, and ripped both their arms off with little effort, destroying them and thus ending that long, drawn out vendetta they had against him.

Although I never read the book or heard of it, but I think that in that alternate timeline, Marcus and his new companions ruled the coven and all vampires far better. With mercy and reason, without Jane and her dark gift. By the way, given the graphics of Beautiful Creature. I would think they're in the same universe.

Honestly, her side characters were much more interesting than the teenybopper centric saga we got. I wanted books about these characters. I wish she'd do us the favor.

You'd think Aro would want to steer utterly clear of Edward, a mind reader, who could see every corrupt thing Aro had done for power. One look and Eddy could turn the Volturi against it's own leader as well as most other vamps prolly cause I imagine Aro stepped on a lot of necks in order to be in the potistion he is in currently...

Please correct me if I'm wrong.. alice cant see the future when shapeshifters are around. I think she said she see humans' future because she was one. Same with vampires, but not warewolves and half vampires.. so i dont understand the vision about the fights with the wolves and jacobs and renesmes happily ever after at end of the movie.

This is actually super depressing. It is similar to Louis' depression from the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles as he never got over Claudia's death.

I was not surprised. Any time he was on screen it was very clear he was old and exhausted and was over it and didn't want to be there anymore. He was like that back when Carlisle lived with them and was even worse a few hundred years later as would be expected. He just endured it. He actually seemed nice to me. Aro manipulated him using Chelsea's loyalty power to make him stay after he secretly killed Marcus' wife, his sister. I don't see why Marcus was that important. Aro could just read their thoughts to see what people thought of each other and determine their relationships. It was odd that many people couldn't see he wasn't still in it when it was so obvious. I question if he was ever really in it like Aro and Caius. If he was he eventually began to become uncomfortable with their growing then acquired power and need to uphold the laws they made. He winces when a vampire is executed and Carlisle looks away in the 18th century. Aro and Caius are very fully into it. He later in the present time says "Let us be done with this" and "You already know what you are going to do" to Aro clearly not part of the decision. Then "Thank you for your visit!" almost like he is half off his rocker or is just actually a nice guy in comparison to Aro and Caius. He is NEVER involved in whatever plans or thoughts Aro and Caius have and they have to explain it to him and he is not interested at all. He says "At least our dispute with the Cullens is OVER" in the BD1 mid credit scene and Aro corrects him saying they had something he wants while Caius grins evilly. Marcus is fully checked out and not participating in all of his scenes. I'm not sure how anyone missed that.

Obviously, he was ready to get out of this "life."

At this point we need prequels to the twilight saga cause the stories before twilight would be hits!!

HA! Knew this! The Twilight world has a bunch of stuff that never made it to the movies, as with any book to film adaptation, the Twilight books are WAY better. Example Caius, is terrified of werewolves. In the book Edward revealed two things to Bella after the standoff with the Volturi. Caius was almost killed by a werewolf and he never let go of that grudge against them so, He led a crusade and almost had them all exterminated. (Think Viktor from Underworld but more like a whiny fool than a warlord.) In the book he was extremely angry when the Quileute shapeshifters showed up. The second thing is that, before He saw Alice's vision, Aro was terrified of Bella. Edward revealed to Bella that she basically won the day. The thing Aro values most is Power (as was again stated in this video) Bella managed to neutralize all of the most offensive and deadly powers the Volturi had at their disposal. The vision Alice showed Aro, only confirmed his fears but Bella, was was what truly scared him. It was also stated in the book that one day the Volturi would come again and perhaps that one day they'd be ready to be rid of the Voluri altogether. THAT, I want to see, A new twilight series that isn't simply visions and a love story but, an all out war against the Volturi. Also despite them being called Vampires, they are really more like living statues. Still love the book series, was not a fan of the movie adaptations.

Never read the books, but most of these characters backgrounds intrigue me and now I can’t help but want to read the books where it’s more in depth. Marcus’ story is tragic, and it was no wonder he was the calmest out of them.

Imagine if edward read Aros mind and told Marcus that Aros killed his wife when they were in Italy or on the battlefield

After seeing all my friends and family die around me, and the world consistently continue to choose hate and violence, I'd be ready to leave the earth after so many years. I'm not suicidal, but whats the point of living when anyone who knew you is dead?

Wasn’t Marcus originally a priest who hunted vampires and eventually was caught and changed by one? So didn’t he end up as a vampire against his will? I thought I remember in Eclipse that the Italians were celebrating St. Marcus day, and I though he was the Marcus who had been martyred.

Stephanie Meyer pulled inspo from Anne Rice’s Lestat, who is the biggest vampire drama queen of all time. He can’t stand the thought of being left so he does whatever possible to keep that person around. Lestat made his bf a child & Aro killed his best bud’s wife. What jerks

It's just weird bc them ending it with everything being perfect and the Volturi just leaving.... like that isn't going to happen... I want another book made with them coming back. and here is the problem with how Marcus was tricked, hes power should have shown him the trap he was about to walk into as Arus elengcens chanced. + aru should have seen that both Marcus and hes wife would return, but non of this happend just to make Aru hated!! much like in the "final battle" there was a vampyer that could have made sure no one died as he can controle fire but this was also forgotten to setup the revenge-plot for the "Collinens-clan. I turly hate how superpowers seems to be forgotten to setup some stupid plot or cover a plot-hole
