Despite him being average in melee. The one thing I love about Mario is his character design from melee. It's like an upgraded version of the N64 era It's really cool.

This video is really dope, only confusing thing about it is sometimes the references just don't show the point you're talking about. Like the shiek having good tilts and combos, etc. The clip you referenced just showed shiek getting combo'd which was weird.

I like practicing Mario in PM now and again cuz of the simple combos myself. I like how they made him stronger cuz it makes Mario vs Wario tourney matches that much more hype to watch.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mario was one of the first characters added during development and was result of power creep. I hear that Kirby is often speculated to been power creep too

P+ Mario is fun, but Luigi is where it's at for me and I hate playing Luigi in almost every Smash game

Well Doctor Mario has the same dash speed, air speed, air acceleration and fast fall speed and his attacks are slightly more laggy and soem are less range for greater combo starters, koing and knockback. Luigi is the slowest and gets koed the easiest and with more predictiable attacks but he has better koing, knockback, misfire is better recovery if you get the lucky 12.5 percent chance and he for some people says the best combo character out of the 3, some people say it. For a mid teir recovery, mario has the best recovery with luigi or mid and low teirs. It's predictable and hard to master. Mario has a cape for stalling his recovery Up special is an decent recovery And his down special can be a recovery He does have a good wall jump. +Good combo game + multiple recovery +Good out of shield options +Low Lag attacks +Good zoning by his fireball +Decent edgeguard by fireball and cape. -Lacks range -Preditable recovery -Great against low teir characters -Lacks Ko -struggles against high teir characters -lacks a good grab -Outclassed by his clones Also spoiler for who didnt watch the video, mario was significantly puffed by project M and P plus. His attacks are faster, stronger, betterrecovery, edgeguard, Ko options and was shown A lot in tournaments, he is consumed a midnight teir or a high teir character meaning you are great in the game, he beated marth and has favorable matchups. Mario Dash speed 1.5 Don't be a slow character ,(Mario has an average dash speed) Because it ruins combos, Retreats, Approaching, recovery and Zoning like bowser. Also has low lag attacks because if you dont then Frame 1 shine will be great against it and your attacks are predictable Mario has some had some bonuses in melee that keeper it from being crazy good or terrible. His attacks have lower knockback +Better combos -Worse Koing potential His Up smash is faster +less predictable -but at the cost of lower damage. Mario is an jack of all trades. He us great for comboes and edgeguarding. Hes a decent zoner and a decent recovery. But his attacks are weak, lacks Ko options, his recovery is predictable, an struggles against high teir characters. Why are you stretching Melee to 16:9? The game is 4:3, it looks horrible stretched

Personally, I think Mario was a decent fighter in Melee. He did have problems, which weren’t that big of a deal until Brawl. Also I’ve been able to defeat Giga Bowser with Mario on the day of writing this comment.

As someone who plays both doc and Mario, I prefer Mario
