Why Min Min was the Right Choice (And Others Weren't) | Smash Bros Ultimate & Arms 

We all know Twintelle wasn't included because Smash Ultimate is a family friendly game. *Laughs in Bayonetta*

Let's be honest, the people who say they wanted Twintelle didn't actually want Twintelle in Smash. They just wanted Twintelle's ass in Smash.

I like that Min Min got in. At least Spring Man got promoted to Assist trophy and final Smash character. Riki isn't alone! Twintelle would've added more looking at butts intances in the Smash community. They have enough of that already.

Game is called Arms. That character has the coolest arms. Character is waifu. I don't see the problem.

Honestly I wanted Max Brass, but after comparing Min-Min's in-game abilities to the other Fighters, and how they would translate, hers is the least stupid. Take Spring-Man, the guy gets a permanent buff at low health. Imagine Terry at 100%, but every hit is Buster Wolf. Or Max Brass, who continuously can gain super armor (or the Heavies, Mummy and Mechanica, who have it by default), Mechanic can hover. It's like making Simon a heavy and giving him Peach float. Helix's would be cool, but obnoxious. Twintelle has Witch Time AND Peach Float, Dr. Coyle would turn invisible, probably also Peach Float, and can summon a third arm. Ribbon Girl has four jumps. Again, just give Simon four jumps and see how fun that is. Misango....jesus. Ninjara would teleport everytime you touched his shield, Kid Cobra would have up to four-five dodge rolls, Lola Pop would have a Rebellion Gauge while being able to still move. Springtron can negate any sort of attack (which isn't better than Min-Min, but it's literally just Palutena Down Special, and not a gimmick), Byte and Barq....idk Min-Min just buffs an arm and reflects projectiles, we could've gotten something MUCH more toxic, combined with most of Min-Min's current kit

The people who wanted Twintelle and say Nintendo was Rascist is stupid. Nintendo is not about race or politics, also It wasn't Nintendo Who chose her. All the DLC Characters were chosen since the game came out so no need to be butthurt fans lmao

As much as I love Twintelle, we already have a woman that fights with her hair. Bayonetta.

I wanted Twintelle, not cuz of the booty (though it is a bonus lol) but because I love her design and her ability to still use her normal arms too. Though realistically, even if she did win the popularity contest, I agree that she wouldn’t be the best pick due to having her ARMS ability in her hair. So I am perfectly happy with Min Min as she is still adorable and a great pick as it is the fan favorite (of people who actually play the game not the twitter mob) and the director requested it.

I love Twintails for her design, personality, and her uniqueness on not having the arms trait in her will arms but the fact that she can use her hair for distance and then her actual arms for close combat it's a really good concept but I don't want her in smash mainly for the reasons you said it wouldn't make sense, but might people turn it into a race issue and I hate that mindset. However, I like Min Min more because of her cool design, personality, and background as the tournament winner and her tactical mind very smart girl! Plus what she represents is also amazing and why she does what she does, she very hard working what she does doing two jobs all at once is amazing I couldn't do it. I have so much admiration for the character despite being fictional. If I were to apply it to a real person with the hardworking smart type I want to be that type of person!

It's pretty clear in terms of fleshing out a Moveset no one other than Min Min has what it takes. Like the kicks really make up for gaps in the kit and give her options she wouldn't have otherwise.

To me Twintelle is like this: Sakurai announces the second fighter to represent the Sonic series And that character is: *Rouge The Bat!* While not a bad choice if we were really choosing a second character to help better represent the series. Why Rouge? She just doesn't feel like a go to for representation of the series and Twintelle is a similarly offbeat choice They would by no means be a "waste" but don't feel like prime characters to represent the series further

As much as people don’t want to keep hearing this, someone is still going to be angry with this video and others so just hear me out. There are a lot of people that were upset that it wasn’t Twintelle, because she would’ve been Smash’s first black skinned (by default) character. I know it’s annoying and SJW-y to point it out, especially for the people that say that the people who put Min Min in over her are racist to black people and owe representation to black people (especially with Black Lives Matter and all that). But as a black person myself, I’m not too upset Twintelle didn’t get in and I’m not going to call Sakurai, Mr Yabuki, the Smash Team, or Nintendo racist for not putting her in as one gift of respect to them in these trying times. It would’ve been nice if it was Twintelle, but I honestly think it’s for a completely innocent, non racist reason to why Min Min was chosen instead, Mr Yabuki just wanted her in, that’s it. So for those who feel like it’s a missed opportunity that they didn’t pick her as their first (not alt) black character, especially since they were really close to, I want to kindly, respectfully, sympathetically say this, it’s fine if you think that way, it would’ve been nice for her to get in, but it’s not the end of the world nor is it a betrayal to black people everywhere if it doesn’t, it doesn’t make Sakurai or anyone else immediately racist for it. Besides Min Min is at least the first Chinese Smash fighter, so I don’t think it’s as fair to right her off as another generic white character when they could’ve picked a black character. Any of the Arms characters would’ve been fine regardless of who they were, or what skin color they were. I personally don’t care about it that much, I just care if they’d be a cool character. I mean something I haven't seen Twintelle fans really argue about that much is her ARMS. Since it is part of her hair instead of her actual arms, certain actions such as pummeling, grabbing items, and even small things like the clapping animation during a victory screen if she doesn't win would seem more natural. And it'd be kinda weird to some in general (even those who love ARMS) to see springy arms clapping without it being awkward. And maybe it'd add a bit more to the moveset. And also, timestop is a thing (though it's more like a time slow down) added with the arms mechanic (probably into her dodging?). I'd personally argue for twintelle because of certain aspects like the ones I pointed out. Sad to say most arguments towards how Twintelle should've been the rep regard her race, her sex, or her figure. I was also bummed out that Twintelle didn't make it, but hey, Min-Min is no slouch. RIP Spring-Chads though ;-;. Press F to pay respects for them.

As a black guy myslef i had no expectations for anyone of our race to get in smash let alone anything made by people from asia i never get mad about us not existing in anything of theirs i watch dragonball there isn't anyone black as a character except uub who is claimed to be black by fans but i don't know if he is really because of his hair being straight like the darkskin people in naruto. People in Asia knows very little of us some think we naturally have straight hair some only knows how we are portrayed on the media some think that our skin tone always matches our biological parents (which some people of every race thinks). Have i ever got excited about a black person existing in asian entertainment yes of course. I never expected to see marina in splatoon 2, Carole from carole and tuesday, neither pokemon characters in the series and games but excited they are there.

Yeah I honestly thought Min Min was perfect for the job, perfectly representing the game's mechanics while also having a very unique design to set her apart from other fighting game characters. Spring Man and Ribbon Girl as well as Max Brass all fall into that category in a way of being mostly generic fighting game characters, just with extendable arms. The fact that Min Min is so unique compared to the rest (I mean she literally has spaghetti arms), as well as the unique selection of equipment for her as standard with the dragon arm and such. Plus the fact that she was amongst the first fighters revealed for the game also helped.

I don't know why you people even respond to Twitter crap like that, some people just like to stir up issues. As a darker skinned person, I do wish it was Twintelle. I do like Min Min, and as someone who knows Chinese, I think it's cool to have a Chinese speaking character. However, excluding pallet swaps, every human character in Smash is White/light-skinned Asian. I definitely don't think skin color is a major concern here, but at this point in the series, there's no reason why we shouldn't have a dark-skinned character. Twintelle is just cool, aside from being a first party dark-skinned female, she's unique as she punches using her hair, also she for some reason speaks French, which is pretty cool. I wouldn't call Nintendo racist, but my issue is that she was probably my last hope for having a character of dark skin to join Smash

I agree with everything but Dr. Coyle being a main candidate. I'm pretty sure no villain was added to smash without a protagonist from the same game already existing as a fighter. Since this is the first ARMS character (And probably the only one), the antagonist wouldn't be nearly as likely.

Characters made for representation makes for a bad character overall. Change my mind.

Here's the thing: let's say that you couldn't use the ones that was already an Assist Trophy and Spirits. That eliminates SpringMan, Ribbon Girl, Min Min, Twintelle, and Ninjara. So the remaining are Barq and Byte, Master Mummy, Springton, Lola Pop, Mechanica, Misango, Max Brass, Kid Cobra, Helix, and Dr. Coyle. They each have their own uniqueness to them. Barq and Byte as tag team fighters Misango as a naturistic fighter. Master Mummy as a reanimated fighter. Helix as a stretchy fighter. Mechanica as a armored fighter. Springton as another robot fighter. Kid Cobra as a rad kid fighter. Lola Pop as a goofy clown fighter. Max Brass as a buff heavy fighter. Dr. Coyle as a villain fighter. They all are unique, but if one of them were to make it in... I would have to go with Dr. Coyle. Here's why: 1. She is a female fighter, the roster kinda lacks in females. 2. She is a villain fighter, which also lacks in the roster. 3. She doesn't even walk, she flies... which is kinda awesome. 4. She can grow a THIRD arm, meaning more of an advantage. 5. She has a cool, complicated backstory. 6. Her stage looks awesome and creepy. 7. For her Final Smash, she could use Hedlok and just go mad with power!!! So as you see, in my opinion she would've been an AWESOME choice. Don't get me wrong, I freaking love Min Min, but if they couldn't use any of the Spirits, I feel like she would've been the right choice.

The moment an ARMS character was announced to be in Smash, Min Min was my go-to choice. My personal favorite character and main in the game is Kid Cobra, but I thought Min Min had more potential as a fighter with a varied moveset (dragon arm mechanic, kicks used for certain attacks, etc.).

On top of that, from a game design stand point Min Min was the best choice. Samurai loves representing a games mechanics in a fighter's move set. But if you start arms reps off with Spring man or Ribbon Girl, then you have to take into account both arms when including the various weapons. And considering the use of A and B for the left and right arms, it would be awkward to sacrifice two potential attack buttons for arm switch buttons. But Min Min easily bypasses all of that. Because of her ability to turn one of her arms into a dragon, it makes perfect sense to make one of the arms exclusively the dragon while down B only changes one of the arms. Now bot the player and the devs don't have to worry about managing both arms, and future reps won't need t incorporate that same potential complexity if they had been the first rep. Further more, Min Min's kick abilities also add more to her kit while other characters don't have as much stuff to incorporate into a move set.

Kid cobra was my main and was hoping he’d get in if we were to get an arms rep at all. I always thought min min was pretty bland compared to other characters. I’m still happy that arms was atleast recognized again and I’m hoping for an unlikely sequel.

Min-Min strikes me as the sportier type. Aside from how she uses her ARMS in combat, she kicks, flips, etc. she just seems like a fighter overall. Twintelle, on the other hand, just seems a little too...glamorous. She can still kick ass with her ARMS ability, sure, but she’s literally wearing heels in battle- if you’ve never tried to run around in heels, lemme tell ya- it ain’t easy (I had to run in heels before for a scene in a play- not easy.) Idk, my take on it all is that min-min is a lot sportier and seems like a good fit for a giant fighting game like smash. oh and if the game is called ARMS, a character with hair for their ARMS would have confused the hell out of so many people.

When it was announced that Smash was getting an Arms fighter, my first pick was Twintelle. Mainly because she has actually human arms and could be simple to program and add a person of color to the roster. But I’m happy with Min Min

I personally was hoping for dr coyle in smash. Not only would it have added another villian to the roster, but her ability to generate a second set of arms would have been a cool special gimmick. Not to mention how insane it'd be to have her final smash or stage gimmick use the head bot that gives you four more arms to battle

I think that I am one of the few people who likes Misango and wanted him. I know he is a DLC character, but his mask mechanic for me would have done some Shulk type of character (Other thant that I like him a lot for his design, he reminds me of Star Platinum from JoJo [no, i'm not a weeb, I only like JoJo]) . I imagine him as some middleweight character, with his 3 poison weapon, as some ranger/ledge trapper. Similar to the Belmont, but basically an "more Risk More Reward" character. He would not have a great speed (exept when he uses his blue mask), but if you manage to stay at distance you can dominate without being touched. I like having a ARMS character, I'm not Upset of Min Min being the choice, I know is more recognizable and more Popular than Misango, I only like to imagine him in smash. Blease do not be upset at me qwq

Twintelle has an inherent disjoint with her ARMS having a head-level position, she can float, she has a Witch Time effect, and one of her signature ARMS is an advancing offensive barrier. Chalk that up with the range on a two-dimensional field of movement, hand that there's a solid *_fuck_*_ no._

Not hating on Min Min at all, but I always thought the guy with blue hair or that other blonde girl would have been the arms rep from a purely recognizable standpoint. And you can tell from the way I'm describing these characters that I've never played arms. But that kind of my point, I always thought Smash was a place where the most iconic character from a game should be represented and I always seemed like these guys were the mascots of Arms. I'm sure other things like movesets come into play but I always thought recognizability was most important and I never even heard of Min Min before this reveal. It's like if they wanted an Overwatch rep and instead of going with Tracer they went with Widowmaker. Is Widowmaker popular? Sure, but she's not as famous as Tracer. It's this line of logic that made me think blue haired guy or other blonde girl would get the invite. But then again, I really don't have any stake in this controversy. I never played arms so I don't really have any reason not be for or against Min Min. But as an outsider looking in, it still does seem a bit odd if not unintuitive to make her the Arms rep of choice.
