Minimalism is the perfect solution right? Everyone will feel better with less stuff right?
Come along as I explain why that wasn't the case for me, but some idea can be useful for everyone!

I think that the way you talk about living intentionally, and curating what you bring into your life, is probably the most accurate definition of what minimalism actually means. To me, minimalism is more about having an awareness of what you need to live a fulfilling life than a preoccupation with having less stuff.

Oh I like that. I guess I hadn't thought of it that way before!

I think you nailed it at 6:09 - De clutter is the key. People shouldn't try and have soulless apartments/houses just for the sake of some dumb term/idea. But I firmly believe no one should hoard or even keep useless things that don't bring them joy. My apartment is probably neutral-ish in the sense that I don't have a lot of things, but what I do have is important to me because there's meaning behind it. I got to a point where it became unnecessary to continue to "declutter." So I stopped and didn't make some weird attempt to have absolutely nothing; just for the sake of having ... absolutely nothing. xD I'm also in my 30s by the way so I identified with pretty much everything you talked about.

Absolutely. If all our belongings have purpose or meaning, then we can feel so much better in our space. I think so many of us in our 30s are struggling a bit to find meaning so we are all working on similar things.

the meaning of minimalism is different for everyone. but in general - to have only the right things😊

Wanted to listen to what you have to say, however, I found the music too loud and very distracting.

Indeed. I don't see the point having music. When the point of the video is to share the message.

Look at nature outside - there are things everywhere, thousands of leaves on trees, flowers, insects, animals. I’ve found the easiest for me is to put sculptures & ornaments in the garden outside the window - no dusting or cleaning them - just a hose down or let them get rained on. I like the timber organising crates. Clothes are sorted into colours for each month.

I like that idea about the clothes! I am currently contemplating trying to dig out my fall stuff and want to find a better way to organize my summer stuff when I put it away.

You go girl! If some of the minimalist ideas/methods work for you, great! The others that don't, don't worry about them! If you like blue, great! Keep your books, they mean a lot to you. Create your own cosy and safe home, the important thing is that it works for you. I am not a minimalist myself, but interested in intentional living. Good luck with everything!

Hi there, thank you for sharing your experience with minimalism. I have been interested in this concept for the last 8 years or so and pursuing minimalism, but trying to figure out what minimalism means for me. I am also someone who likes to have a cozy and inviting space. I love decorating, so I'm not going to be that minimalist with white walls and no decor. I actually did a no spend year and it was life changing! It really changed my spending habits and made me much more intentional about what I do bring into my home. Thanks for sharing!😊

Was 4 months out of work last summer between two jobs and I loved that as well. What you say about financial minimalism is so true. Having the ability to walk away from a job you do not like anymore any time you want is very liberating (a friend called the financial buffer for that the "fuck-you-account" 😂). It also is great to be able to get things fixed if needed or replace broken stuff you really use and need without worrying if the money will be enough to buy food for the rest of the month. I've never been a person who liked to shop and I'm grateful for that. I like very much all of the home I live with my boyfriend in, I only have to come up with a concept for "my" room (office and crafting area). At the moment it is a patchwork of furniture from my teen years to now (nearly hitting 40...) what does not match and honesly does not work at the moment. Maybe starting with another round of decluttering might start changes. Thanks for your video :)

Everyone is an individual, so the minimalist lifestyle isn't for everyone. This doesn't make you a failure. I do agree with you on buying intentionally and being wise with spending. I personally put money into an account and save for something that I really want. BTW I loved this video!!!

Thanks! I am glad you liked it. I feel like financial minimalism has been so helpful for me, and I definitely like to pause before making big purchases to ask myself if it is something that will really add value to my life.

This is understandable being a minimalist can be rather difficult for females.... It's just their biology nothing personal.
