Why mix your own substrate? 

Why do most plant fanatics mix their own soil?!
I get asked « what is your soil » mix more times than I have hairs! In fact I see a multitude of videos about what substrates to mix and what %age of this and that HOWEVER not many deal with the WHY is enough detail.
