One thing i genuinely hate When the game guilt trips you in September, he leaves and gives you 0 choice to side with Ryuji. No, it forces the game to guilt trip you and try to feel bad for Morgana, and i hate it because he was the one to start crap with Ryuji then got told to back it up before getting sad and leaving, i truly think September isnt just persona 5's worst, but the worst month in all the persona games
Is that really guilt tripping? It doesn't really force that, Ryuji just crapped on him at random points when they were chilling or when someone else was helping or when Morgana was trying to help them think of a plan, he already has a fragile ego so that wasn't helping at all. Getting told he's a useless cat is absolutely going too far.

I honestly like Morgana. Mainly because I find him really funny, and he can SOMETIMES be endearing. That being said, I always keep him out of my party for better or worse so that I see less of him.

Morganna is the devs vehicle for saying 'stop trying to have fun' 765679 times in the first hour. If any other character had taken Morgannas place, they would be despised for it. Bring back #3's stamina system, hell even 4 let you do things most of the time.
Morgana I like him, besides his mistakes , I like his Way of thinking and I always am happy when Morgana says something like " of course MY Phantom Thieves won't lose to that"

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if he had a reverse Walter White/not-reverse Puss In Boots The Last Wish arc and if his palace arc was in Yaldaboath's palace instead of kneecapping Haru, with it developing throughout the palaces as Joker pushes him to do tasks to better his relationship with the rest of the PT, and slowly tear down his own superiority complex that slowly devolves into an inferiority complex that is compounded by a body dysphoria, which all culminates in a final battle post-Okumura palace in which the PT have to reason with him in Mementos as Mona has to confront each of the PT, which in turn have to confront him as well. Mona could even be the team's collective "shadow" that they each have to face, with two alternate boss forms being one where Okumura was spared from The Black Mask's hitlist, and the other being where he died. The spared Mona form is more dangerous than the dead Mona form, as dead has him have sympathy for the PT, which gives him a Shadow that is much slower and more easier to manage, where spared is just him having no reservations against the rest of the PT and he just hammers all of his problems and dumps them all on to the PT. The various tasks could probably replace The Velvet Twins exploration of the real world, as The Velvet Twins could use this opportunity to use Mona and Joker's potential relationship development to gather information on humans. It could tie together everything that Mona and The Velvet Twins want in their characters and would progress both their arcs. TL:Dr I want Morgana to define transition from his younger, more naive self who hates his own body to someone who is both proud to be who he is and is far better accepting of himself. To do this, we'll probably have to put in multi-interconnected-arcana to give Morgana a rank "when Haru is in the team and after Okumura is either saved or killed off" intervention with all of the Phantom Thieves, and a battle similar to Akechi's, in which it is Morgana's Shadow vs all of the Phantom Thieves, and you have to defeat him by letting Morgana accept each of the Phantom Thieves as his friends and then himself. Would you like to Mr Blue Medic your way through P5R?
I don't understand all the dislike surrounding Morgana. I played Persona 5 royal for the first time myself just recently and as a new Persona 5 fan I really like Morgana. I don't find him annoying as many seem to do. I find him likable except for the rather yes annoying pity sulking tantrum in the haru arc. But even then Morgana does make a valid point with that the entire rest of the Phantom thieves are becoming conceited, letting their own popularity get to them. I was actually feeling that too. Morgana called them out on it and rightfully so. But then later the party comes back and becomes more whole.
I used him from start to finish because he starts as your only healer, and he got the ability to rez dead teammates once all the insta kill enemies showed up. That's why when he had his whole arc about being useless when I had been completely dependant on him I just -_-
Idk, i always stick with my fully jazz club leveled morgana when i play a hard run to relax mostly because at cap level he never runs out of sp and can keep Ryuji going for longer, Makoto is an ok replacent in the mid game but she tends to gas out sooner and she drops in value as a healer in the endgame when Salvation pretty much blows mediarahan out of the water in terms of utility. I always find myself using Pulimpa and lucky punch as they are actually pretty reliable sources of techs and crits. Past 80 luck, it feels like lucky punch never misses. At least as i see it, he rarely loses utility cuz he has a bit of everything unlike Ryuji that falls behind when enemies have phys null since he has no utility other than some rng based ailments. Yeah he has some of the highest outputs, but that's about it. The things i hate about morgana is that you can't power level his confidance so you can't get his evade passive until the late game. I don't find his character particularly annoying and he ads some well timed comic relief, but the part where he almost runs you over with his truck form because he is throwing a tantrum just ruined him for me. There are limits for what I'm willing to forgive and putting others in real danger of suffering grievous wounds or even die, just because he is throwing a b1tch fit? Nah man, that's the difference between him and other annoying, womanizing mascots like Teddy. As annoying as i found Teddy, he never crossed any lines.

You're wrong. Morgana cannot be the worst character in Persona 5 because Ohya exists. *I rest my case.* Seriously tho, Mona's a pretty good character imo. Unfortunately, he suffers IMMENSELY in the Okumura arc because of how much he just takes it over when it should be all about Haru. ESPECIALLY in the beginning when he leaves the group. Royal does imo help mitigate this in a few ways; if you know his leaving arc is coming it's actually pretty well set-up. I even noticed in Futaba's palace that a lot of the enemies you face reflect or resist wind attacks, encouraging you to pull Mona out of the front lines. (Side note: Mona stop simping for Ann and go for Haru; she's cute too and the two of you seemed to have an actual emotional connection)
That would undermine Morgana's thematic role. Morgana is the literal embodiment of hope. His pining for Ann is meant to thematically represent the hopes that can never be. If he did go after Haru, that would fail to represent the other side of hope because Haru would likely accept him. It's the very thing that makes Morgana nuanced.
I'm doing a new play through at the moment and I did get a few mods for this one, nothing really major, just makes the game more colorful and removes some of the censoring, but one mod that actually made a big difference to Morgana's character for me was one where his portrait image was replaced to his cat one any time they're outside the Metaverse. Not having to see that dumbass face as much really makes the whole mascot thing less annoying to me, and I like the idea on the protagonist just having a cat in his bag. Would highly recommend if you're playing the Steam version on PC and don't really like Morgana, it's very easy to set up, and it's actually a big improvement imo Also, Strikers handles Morgana a lot better I find, it's sad to me we couldn't get the same sort of improvements that game got in Royale tho
I was worried that when I eventually play Persona 4 I would be greatly annoyed by the mascot character Teddie, just looking at him pisses me off. But given how much I like Morgana and how much scorn at least half the community has for him, I probably have nothing to fear right? Because it must be that they are just dissatisfied with the usual god tier mascot characters Atlus must be known for making in the past. Yes that must be it. So many people wouldn't hate Morgana if he wasn't much worse then the other mascots before him, and given that I don't think he's so bad at all, it follows logically that past mascot characters must be that much better. It's either that or it could be that most haters of Morgana have limited experience with other mascot characters in past Persona games or just other games in general, and if they did then they might complain that Morgana isn't annoying and 1 dimensional enough, all things considered with him being a mascot character.
Morgana is a cat. You have to keep that in mind. If you're judging a human, then everything is valid. A cat? Cats are naturally selfish and very territorial. He was behaving like a cat, which is what he is. Try thinking of Morgana within the context of a cat
I don’t think Morgana in combat is as bad as we’re all saying. I found that he was actually somewhat useful early game as his combination of early Media + proud presence gives him the best healing at that point in the game whilst also being able to go on the offensive with wind magic. His damage is actually quite respectable so he can also be decent for clearing shadows. He just falls off in the mid to late game because: 1. Makoto gets AOE healing skills too and is better in every way possible (better stats, better moves, better element, way better trait) 2. His small benefits over Makoto such as healing statuses and reviving people can be covered by items 3. His trait becomes useless when you get Mediarahan, as opposed to every other party member having a pretty useful trait 4. He gets easily the worst 3rd awakening move of everyone. Ryuji and Ann get AOE charge/concentrate yet Morgana is stuck with Miracle Rush? The only notable battle I used him on was shadow Okumura, where I ironically think he’s really good because one of the tougher waves is weak to wind
When I fought Maruki, I really didn't get Miracle rush. So much so that I never used it during the whole fight. I will admit that he did me some good in Okumura's palace when I needed him the most.
I dont know how they made characters that are as likable as Ryugi (fight me) and as deep as Futaba (emotionally, you weirdos) and then fumbled the bag SO hard with morgana. NO I DONT WANT TO SLEEP CAT, I WANT TO SEE DOCTER GOTH MOMMY

I more dislike how out of place Morgana feels and looks with the rest of the Phantom Thieves. He designed like a cartoon character, not a cat. Also, why is he the only character whose dialogue portrait is of his Metaverse self, not his real life appearance? I have the same issue with Teddie in Persona 4; however, they give a human form and his TV World "body" more or less juat becomes a costume. Koromaru is probably the best non-human party character. It is still uncertain if he is just a very smart and loyal dog, or if he is aware of things like humans considering he understands human speak very well. I am just hoping for Persona 6 that there is no weird non-human character like Morgana or Teddie as well as no damn Hot Spring scene. That's my minimum wish for Persona 6.

he's also really annoying. the battle quotes were fun and charming at first but they lose their charm really fast and just become annoying and I just wanna shut him up during battle
hes not teddie lol but honesty its his/her voice actress for me voice actors most of the time make or break characters and i cant stand cassandra lee morris she puts in zero effort in trying to make him/her sound like a dood and the crap before haru joined with him/her and the thieves solidified him/her as one of if not my most hated character in any form of fiction hell i may despise him/her more than i do tifa lol
