it so simple but i never thought of that. I’ve been in those echo chambers of muslim men where the imaam made a great show of seeking the truth thru ‘rationality’ and ‘serious question’, but the sermons were little more that just singing to a choir who already accepted the premise - allah is god, mohamed is his final prophet, the Quran is the literal word of god and we submit to this premise. It was little different when i was younger tho, around 10-13 years old. To a slightly larger degree, some imams at the madrasahs half-heartedly started with the assumption that the kids were ‘just yet to be guided to the truth’ and made a slightly more genuine attempt to proselytise.

Da’wa (A) : call, the invitation; propaganda. II 168a; pretension. IX 432a; and Da’WET In the Quran, is the call to the dead to rise from the tomb on the day of Judgement. II 168a In the religious sense, is the invitation addressed to men by God and the prophets, to believe in the true religion, Islam. The concept that the religion of all the Prophets, is Islam and that each prophets has his own, was developed by the Ismailis. As an atheist coming from judaism - i salute you. Leaving islam takes much more courage than leaving any other faith. I always claim religions divide people, and what happens here in israel lately demonstrates that more than many realize. it is not only jews vs muslims, but israel is on the verge of civil war, as secular people and religious people have completely different ideas on how the countries' future should be. Your channel made me realize that atheism, is far from not being devisive. it is uniting. in islam, judaism and christianity there are so many groups highly separated and some times at war. as a fellow atheist i feel much more commoradery with an ex muslim than with a practicing religous jew.

I'm an atheist coming from Catholicism and I agree with your analysis perfectly. Although Catholics, in the main, do not take the Bible literally, especially the Old Testament, but try to derive messages from God in the text, I was still told that our brain is not developed enough to understand the workings of God. The more things are different, the more they are the same!

I started to have doubts about Islam and so far not a single Muslim could answer my questions :( EDIT: Because RU-vid won't let me post long replies, I need to share my responses here as an edit. I thank Muslims for attempting to answer my questions, but I'm still not satisfied with their answers, and here's why. **On why infinite punishment?** Muslim answer: Because Allah states in the Quran that people would have disbelieved for eternity even if given the chance, and that's why He punishes them for eternity based on His foreknowledge. This remains unjust because people are punished not for actions they have committed, but solely on Allah's foreknowledge. It's akin to Allah creating people He knows will disbelieve and putting them in Hell immediately. Muslims agree this is unjust because people would argue they weren't given the chance to prove themselves. Therefore, punishing disbelievers for eternity based on Allah's knowledge that they would disbelieve eternally, even if given an endless opportunity, is equally unjust since people are not actually given an eternal chance to prove themselves. Moreover, justifying eternal punishment on the grounds that Allah knows disbelievers will disbelieve forever is illogical, as it's impossible for a person to experience two eternities. In response to this question, another Muslim pointed out that paradise applies as well, asking why I don't question people entering paradise for eternity when they have only worked for a finite time. I must agree with this point. If God hadn't created us in the first place, we would never have needed or deserved anything, neither Hell nor Paradise. **On why does Allah create people He knows will forever burn in Hell?** Muslim answer: Because Allah grants people free will, and people choose to go to Hell. However, this response misses the essence of my question. Free will comes after Allah creates people, and I'm asking why Allah creates people He knows will misuse their free will and consequently burn in Hell for eternity. Please don't answer with what happens after people are created. I need an explanation for why Allah creates such individuals in the first place.

Personally I think the reason or rather one of the main reasons people do leave Islam is 'Sincerity' Most so called ex Muslims are the most honest & sincere & helpful people... They have taken their religion the most seriously , that after exploring the depths , and especially with regard to the Qur'an being The Source Creator's Word or speech , is quite frivolous as it's basically old Jewish folk tale , just twisted to suite a particular narrative... it's very childish tbh... When you come to the conclusion that Islam is true then you accept that it came from God and you can logically infer that God is good and therefore whatever the Qur'an says must be true and Muhammad is his messenger and therefore what he is saying is the truth. So to them that's what it means to submit to God. First you come to these conclusions and you accept that morality comes from God and when God says that something is moral or immoral, that is the case even if it doesn't make sense to you because that's your limited perspective and you can't understand the wisdom behind it. That's muslims' thought process.

@@dimitritome5118if you were to come to that conclusion, then they would ask you why you are not convinced, etc. The idea of morality is that believers would say that it must be grounded in God for it to be objective bc otherwise it would just be subjective (even though there are atheists who think that morality is objective) and if that's the case then whose idea of morality is the correct one? So God being good would define what's moral. You could do an internal critique e.g., that religion says one thing is moral but goes against that in action or there is some other rule tajt oppose that.

Christians in chat lmfao. Glad you addressed them because Yasir Qadhi's rhetoric is almost word-for-word Christian apologetics rhetoric. Even if the specifics change, the general current of anti-thinking (in places where it's inconvenient) remains the same. That said, answering your question near the end, I honestly clicked on this to gain a better understanding of why Muslims might leave Islam and came away with Qadhi's nonsense apologetics. Like I suppose I could infer one reason Muslims would leave Islam specifically because of this high-control, anti-intellectual environment, but Qadhi never actually bothers to answer the question himself. Of course, you guys are best able to answer because you yourself have left Islam for reasons that you (thankfully) give in the video. I guess it shows the similarity between Christians and Muslims with regards to apostates, because most of the effort goes into addressing the already-believing flock and ridiculing and misrepresenting apostates, rather than actually addressing apostates' concerns. Though I suppose that's the most pragmatic move, because realistically there _is no_ way to address apostates' concerns without outright commanding them to throw away reason and to obey and submit.

Different from 'Seasoned Reasoning,' Common Reason is basically defined as exercising obvious critical thinking since Yasir Qadhi would not jump into a pond full of gators but he is a shrewd 'dawa'-gandist (propagandist), selectively asking some people to not use reasoning since he needs them to mindlessly submit to his perceived deity or him as alter ego, but thereafter once the fool has entered his cage under the assumption that it is a castle, some reasoning is allowed within the confines of the conquering castle. Instead of him advancing religion to strive only for peace he is employing a muddy philosophy to counter the quest for freedom from religion and perpetual membership dues, but nothing wrong with being spiritual and appreciating creation or nature as there's poetry and beauty even in science (not scientism), perhaps the only revelation of a Divine Mind as God doesn't write books, assuming one appreciates intelligence regardless of name or region, complexity over chaos and fruitless fear.

What happened to those before Jesus has arrived on Earth? Have they all immediately sent to hell because they never got to see & believe Jesus is God or are they currently in purgatory, just waiting for the judgement? And if it's true that Jesus is God in Human Form, did Mary, his earthly mother, worshipped him? Was the very God from the old testament who punishes people both in life & the hereafter, because they don't believe in his existence, the same as Christ whose portrayed by the Bible's New Testament as this supposedly merciful, kind & faithful prophet? When I was trying to find ideas about Christianity, I could at least find a lot of good points made by Jesus that even a non Christian is likely to accept as true, such as love your neighbor. But when I looked up Islam, all I could find was Islam is true because Islam is true, and if you don't believe it you will go to hell. As a former atheist becoming christian again I totally get the points made about slavery in the OT. The difference is that the Bible is not the litteral word of God, but a collections of stories about the interactions of God with humans, written by humans for humans. It is also a product of its time, and so historical and cultural context (symbology, numerology) is essential understanding it and that the authors and people depicted there are very flawed and not devine. A read thread going through these stories is the protagonists making progress improving themselves. And denial of Slaves and concurbines in the OT is illogical. It is like hiding mistakes you made prior. Jews do not do that either with their Torah. Christians that loudly have to proclaim they are christian and pray in the open do not behave the way they should. Jesus explains not to do that as the prayer should be a personal conversation with God, not self serving to look better in front of others. This is seen in the new testament as hypocracy. I sometimes have the feeling many christians can cite quotes by heart without even understanding the texts meaning. The main purpose of christianity is saving the soul and creating a paradise on earth as well as in the afterlife. There are rules- or the philosophy taught by God and Jesus how to achieve this. The main way is through altruism and forgiveness. And while the big christian congregations are so emphazised on dogma and that you have to believe the right way, Jesus is not in those stories, criticises the Jewish rabbies that do something similar. Deeds are emphasized the more then faith by jesus repidetely. I actually can reccomend to look at the Bible text not from a deeply religious perspective but a secular one with an open mind as you might actually miss it's message otherwise.

You don't really understand Jesus or christianity. Christianity was about believing Jesus was a Christ or Messiah of the jews, based on nothing but manmade stories and unsubstantiated nonsense, claimed to be prophecies fulfilled by Jesus. Christianity was never about creating any sort of paradise here on earth, and the NT and Jesus are very clear on that. Jesus even called Peter Satan in the gospel of Matthew, only for caring about earthly views at all. Christianity was all about the mere belief in salvation through Christ only in afterlife, allegedly because of sins against God but invented by humans, which allegedly required a human sacrifice provided by Jesus. Without Jesus cult bias, you may understand a few things better if you read Flavius Josephus, Jewish Antiquities XVIII, as his prequel to the Jewish War. It's all about the growing misery of the Jews here on Earth, which had started with preachers and religious zealots like Judas the Galilean and Jesus, who wanted others to follow them and willing to die for a religious and political agenda. The Romans had actually been friends, nice and tolerant to the Jews, for most of the time, until religious loudmouths like Jesus began to turn jews into intolerant ancient Taliban- like fanatics, who started to oppose the Romans, to refuse to pay taxes like everybody else, or even to show any bit respect for Roman traditions, beliefs and authorities. Jesus and the entire New Testament glorified martyrs and cruel suffering all over the place, for blind belief in a death cult, invented by obsessed cultists, fundamentalists, jewish nationalists or insane zealots, who were often willing to die even for very bad reasons. Early christians preferred to make enemies all over the place over mutual respect and tolerance, making everything on earth only worse all the time, for just anybody who fell for them, for jews and christians alike. What you know today as christianity, was already very different from Jesus and christian lunatics of the first century, after it became a universal state religion of the Roman Empire from the 4th century, after it was several times reformed or divided, after its power was eventually suppressed and limited by reason and secularism and it became mostly harmless or irrelevant. If Adam isn't true history, so his god.

Because of the fear of death, people did not dare to raise questions. Right after Mohammad's death, the people who could not dare to question his prophethood left Islam, and it was Umar who killed a lot of apostates.

This all starts from indoctrination as a child, and starting with the notion that your beliefs are true and unquestionable. And the idea that to question your belief is itself a sin! You are basically "fucxed". How do you break free from that grip and echo chamber? One can hope that the internet and shows like this spark inquiry in a curious mind, but the way out of religion is a minefield of tribalism and family and social pressure.
