6:00 that's interesting I worked for a rental company in the 90s and we would just run the charges on their cc if the customer didn't return the car. One time they kept it for over a month and the manager charged enough to buy the car again lol. Course we also had to reposses cars from people who refused to return them. Interesting business. I guess times have changed.
I was going to say they were racing because it was impounded for 2 weeks but it was probably drugs if they ripped it apart… when they took my car for a week, they destroyed the interior, plastic pieces broken everywhere, just damaged it on purpose on top of dog prints everywhere
This is why renting high end cars is dumb. Way too much liability. If the rental place is not providing insurance, what is the point? Its like you are borrowing a friend's car with all the liability, not renting.
Rob, there are credit processors that will place a hold and allow you to finalize the charge for a higher amount. Most rental agencies do this. Even if the amount hoes over limit its authorized. File an open records request with the city for the police video.
We have a small business and there are times it's hard to catch all the calls -especially that late. However, once the car was impounded the customer's phone call became a courtesy call.
There has been one in impound (orange as well) in San Marcos TX for over a year. The bank is arguing they can't auction it off because the criminal owes them way too much money for it .
Rob why don't you just require a larger cash deposit for rentals? It will usually eliminate these people from getting the cars and causing all these problems.
Every other main stream rental company will charge the credit card on file. They don't need permission again. The original contract states this. Hotels do the same thing. Somehow they are all charge back proof.
Lol, it seems like a c8 would make for a great rental. Maybe not in Halloween colors. But, to any average person it looks like a million, and performs as such, and it can be rented at a reasonable price. Get more, so you have backup, they're relatively cheap...

You need to learn how to do authorized holds. When i worked at Hertz, we could 100% charge someone credit card even if they didn't have a balance on it.

Well, I did watch but miss where the two weeks come from. They went to collect the car before the police called the next day, then went back to get notarised paper copies and then he jumped to two weeks for the car's release. So, yeah, unsure where that downtime in between comes from.
Renting a corvette is 100% stupid. $700+ with only 100 miles included..lol. I just 'borrowed' one that was nearly brand new for free with unlimited miles for 10 days (which I then put 3k fun filled miles on). I'll let you guess who I borrowed it from with the included details.
