Re: barn cats. Our local animal control periodically offer feral cats to farmers wanting additional cats for their farms. They are spayed and ready for homes.

Canada Geese are frightening. We have had such a mild winter they are still around here in Nova Scotia. I appreciate the inclusion of the Kids in the Hall, absolutely classic. How did this comment become an homage to Canada?

I remember my dad saying they put some carp in a pond on the farm where he grew up, so when they wallow on the bottom, it helped seal it up.

A muscovy duck can learn to fly but they will stay around. I also seen wild ducks end up staying around but you can't use them for anything.

Very well explained Morgan!! I raised Pekin ducks myself for 3 years. Those guys get as big as turkeys ( if not larger) as you know. Their wings aren't meant to carry a bird that huge.

I always thought when they said "clipped their wings" it meant they disabled their wings surgically, it makes me feel better it's just clipping their feathers.

If when you expade your fence line to include woods/tree stumps beware mosses/fungus/mushrooms that grow on them will KILL your goose's when they eat them. (was watching another youtube up north with geese's/goose's) his died to a tree stump that had some growing on them. hours after eating them.

Can I just say that the relationship between Toby dog and you is so heart warming it makes me so damn happy. He is such a loving calm proud boy and your love for him truly shines through the videos. Dogs are awesome. Sometimes though we are gifted a soul mate, something that we didn't know we needed until it arrived. I feel that Toby is that for you. You are growing your farm and that is awesome. I am learning so much from you about so many different subjects --thank you for making the videos. I get that question a lot ...I always say “they are too fat to fly!” Why would they want to go elsewhere they have 5 star 🌟 accommodation and are loved 😍🦆

Can't help but wonder what Victor's story is. A stray? Lost family pet? Abandoned by his family? Though be extra careful when handling him until you've taken him to the vet. Wear protective gear so you don't get bitten (like thick gloves) and don't take it out of the trap if it's struggling or shows signs of aggression. It's a traumatic experience I'm sure and you won't really get to know it's personality in that moment. It might be terrified and aggressive when you trap it but later turn into the sweetest snuggle bug. Only time will tell. Good luck.

On occasions when we eat meat we will only buy from freerange, sustainable, local farms. It's not even more expensive than the "free range" supermarket stuff because we have 4 other families who are part of our rotation. Have any of your ducks and/or geese ever mated with their wild counterpart?

I started hanging out with Mallards and Canada geese this year at a riverside park near my house. It's pretty funny, and kind of adorable, when the ducklings and goslings start flexing their wings. And there's nothing more gratifying than a flock of birds running to greet you with wings a'flapping.

I like to duck hunt at a refuge in California, and I've noticed a couple things. Most if not all ponds have some form of grass growing in them whether or not they're flooded for the hunters. This helps develop a root structure to help keep the mud in place and prevent the ponds from getting too mucky. And as you mentioned about adding a clay layer to your pond, the idea is exemplary. Your pond will hold water for a while, but your ducks or wild ducks will flock to if in search for food as well as water. This will damage your layer of clay and cause leaking. An idea would be to thicken the layer of clay and add a layer of silt to cover the clay. This way the ducks won't get too deep into the clay and the clay can hold more water better.

The first reason they don’t fly away is “they can’t fly”. The second reason is “they can’t fly”. The final and most obvious reason they don’t fly away is “they can’t fly”. Why doesn’t the dog fly away? I think I can guess.
