Part 4 of the Duck hunting River House boat. This weekend was heartbreaking but we pushed through in our attempt to have 43 ft duck hunting house boat read for this falls duck hunting season. Stay tuned to see if we can overcome obstacles and complete the task in time to float down the Mississippi river and hunt ducks.

Cheering the team on for the win, but I like the idea of a Plan B to make it into an Air BnB somewhere if it doesn't work as a roving duck blind.

Jordan, I’m telling you this is a huge project, actually monumental and my fear is you’re going to get far down this rabbit trail, invested a bunch of money and time, and this flops. I’m a professional captain on the Great Lakes and wooden boat restoration is very time consuming and expensive to do it RIGHT.

To be honest I don’t believe she is too far gone for what we need to do. We’ll have her ship shape by season and there isn’t really a lot of major restoration that needs to be completed but then again I’m not a professional captain but never say never 🧑‍✈️

Eva foam the floor after you seal it instead of painting it then it wont get slippery during the season when it gets cold

you will have to replace the keel section, so it would be a good idea to find the lowest point, next to the keel and remove a plank. Then the rain would have a place to escape. Also are you going to fiberglass the plywood deck when it is all in place?

Good idea. On the decking we will caulk all the seams and then paint it. If we fiberglass it it won’t be till next summmer due to time constraints

There are a lot of experienced people telling you to run from this project. “A tough man never gives up but it’s a fool who doesn’t know when he is beaten”. I want you to be able to keeping making content and not lose a tone of money. Have a boat restoration professional, advise you on how much money you will need to accomplish what you want, then you can make a decision. Just a 43 year old guys advice from Canada. Stay well.
