I keep my Philodendron Brasil under a lamp because I have low light from a North window. I turn the lamp on every every evening during the winter about 530pm.and turn it off at about 11pm. I turn the lamp on a few hours during the day on cloudy or rainy days. The plant is close to the lamp and the bulb is 100 watts. (Fluourescent lights work too as long as the plant is close to the light.). So far my Brasil and even other plants have kept their varigation. (The light is not a grow light, just a regular lightbulb.).
Kamusta! Thanks for this informative video! I just got my own philodendron brasil and am so in love with the different variegation. I will look for a suitable spot for it to grow beautifully :)
Hey there new plant friend! I subbed. I noticed this as well when I put mine under grow lights lol wow your big one looks soooo cool with all the different colours!! 😍
Love the little rings on your plant. Its so adorable! I have a brasil that has fully reverted to a neon philodendron. If I chop it back to the brazil leaves it stil grows the neon leaves even in lower light. Its so weird. I still love it though. I just bought another brasil so I can try again to keep it like a brasil. I will just have to give it a little bit less light than my other one.
My plant is also producing only completely variegated leaves (all-neon), can those leaves still produce new darker leaves when I put them in a dark spot? Or do i need to cut off the fully neon leaves?
You said both low light and high intensity promote variegation. It seems youre trying to say that low light promotes it? Everywhere else I read said bright high intensity light is what you need. I’m so confused lol which one is it?
